If your main goal is a cruiser, then this is perfect. You can always add as funds permit like I do.
Yeah I’m glad they gave this option
“That one time I went to Mexico...” Gets me every time!
I’ve got an 2005 Electra Glide Standard that I ordered new back in 12/2004. There was a shortage in new bikes back then. My bike came in 4/05 & I loved it from the start. My Twin Can 88 has never had any issues & nothing has been done other than routine maintenance. I changed out the cam chain tensioner & oil pump as is necessary. Stage 1 only. Wife & I have toured on it many times, plenty of power. Amazing aftermarket stereo…you can make this bike anything you want it to be. Glad they brought it back. I’ll never sell mine.
Yeah I’m in love❤️ this thing is right up my ally. Thanks for getting us a video on this beast so quickly🤙🏼
Love the test rides. This bike wasn't even on my radar. Glad I know about it now. Thanks for sharing as always!
I have a 2014 police model. I have ABS and cruise and my vent closes. My first Harley. Two tone paint. Love her!
Thanks for the post Block. Anything that gets more of us on the road is a good thing. Now if the weather up north would improve i could get back out on the road. I can deal with the cold. I can deal with the rain. Just not together.
Not a touring bike guy but I was excited when you said this was coming on Instagram. It’s cool seeing how Harley is changing it up for newcomers like myself. Loving the content lately, can’t wait for more truck and gun stuff too 🤙 Thanks Block!
Nice ride. I like that your not paying for stuff your going to mod or take off.
ピーチャン I did my ironworker apprenticeship at local 736 Hamilton Ontario Canada.
I'm not sure the executive office at Harley is getting the concept of how to draw in younger riders. I wish them the best of luck.
They certainly drew me in (SOA actually drew me in but HD was my go-to).
drew me lol
Great honest review Mr. B! Nice bike for sure. Fills a void in the HD lineup. Hope sales show that this year...It'll be nice to see them out on the road this season!
Great review. Thanks Blockhead. I’m still convinced it will ride better than my street glide because of the front wheel.
I thank you so much for this review. I bought one today.
Hey blockhead one of the best reviews I’ve seen on any motorcycle. But especially this one since I’m interested in and now I have one in my garage and that you’re funny so thank you for your post love you man take care!
Orlando to Daytona a distance trip? I used to do 400 - 500 on my sportster 72 once in a while on my day off. Now I have an electra glide standard and wow this is a comfortable bike to ride.
Awesome. Picking up my FLHT tomorrow. Even more excited now
Great review! I've been saying this for years. I wish more car and bike makers would do super stripped down versions and let people build them how they want. Great to see its kinda happening with somthing.
Nice to see your following the breakin procedure per the owner's manual.
I saw one in person on Saturday. They said it had sold two hours earlier. I think it looks better than a Street Glide - all the little retro touches like the mirrors, bag trim, and taillight.
Enjoyed it, I wished you would of took it out on the highway. I like cruising 70 to 75 on my bike, I have touring bikes blow by me at 80 to 85 cruising, they look real stable at high speeds. I like the bike strip down lets you customize it your way. Take care, Merry Christmas!
I enjoy this because I could add on the radio which is one of the big reasons I want a street glide/electraglide/road king. I don’t mind using headphones but I test rode a 2018 street glide and having that radio CHANGED EVERYTHING. I want a touring bike so badly. Thanks for uploading this Block.
P.S. I enjoy your taco, I bought a 96 and it has a hole in the frame I can’t fix and I’m very sad. So I’m jealous of your new taco. Can’t wait to see upgrades and mods to it. Keep rockin🤘🏼
I’ve always believed this FLHT is probably the best and cleanest bike in the current lineup. Less doo dads, less complications, more reliability, and ease of use/maintenance. It’s a down to earth motorcycle.
Great review as usual mate. Entertaining and honest. Nice bike.
First review of this bike I only knew of today, thanks. I just got a 107 Street Bob so obviously not into all the electronic coms stuff and frills ( don't even have or need a sena or phone holder). This would be a bike I would be interested in when I go for a tourer, I would need a dual seat or as you guys say "do all" . Heritage classic and Road king still a good bit less though.
Oils slicks lol James Bond bike lol nice Blockhead lol, great video as usual. I like the honesty and humor of your reviews not looking for a new bike but I always have to catch the test rides!
I love how you plugged Dan😂
Good review. The fact that you don't bash bikes and also own a Honda only shows you're a lover of all bikes. Me too.
Thx!
I had an 06' standard and I loved it. But mine came with the passing lamps and two up touring seat. Seemed like a better deal than this new one. Probably would still rather have this than a Street glide though. Don't need a radio or fancy paint.
This is the bike I own myself. I did spring for a few xtra options like the stereo and passenger floor boards
And I'm so very happy with it. Great video keep up great work.
Fuzzy President
Faithful Few mmc Tennessee.
Damm man, the bike has been out for less than 24 hrs and you already have a test ride and a video out lol. Nice work man !
Great Vid Block! Going over the accessories switched sounded like you were developing the next Twisted Metal game for ps5.... lol. RSSV
Love those test rides to Mexico :)) I can see the possibility of you adding one of these to your fleet sometime in the future.
I love the test ride videos’ intro. It’s soo badass. Nice bike too.
Blockhead, would you ever rest ride other cruiser bikes other than Harleys like the Honda shadow or Kawasaki Vulcan?
I bought one today, and love it!
Currently run an FLTRU and have been looking for a solo bike. I think this will be the one unless they come out with a Road Glide “Standard”, which I kinda doubt.
This would also make a great bike for my daughter once she graduates from the inexpensive sacrificial first bike.
I would get the one with the most on the dash. I love that style of bike.
Excellent review! Thanks.
Damn nice bike. Been considering getting one and my local HD dealer is pushing out the 2019’s at great deals. I see a lot of folks complaining about price. Personally, I feel it’s right on point and well worth the cost. Especially after being on one.
There ya go! Nice vid and review. On the road again...
No worries about ABS in Australia. It is mandatory , I believe, on all new vehicles.
I think you’ve convinced me to get this bike over a used Ultra Classic. Im a touring guy and I have a com so I would just add a tour pack and taller bars and call it good!
I dig it. I would add a radio but that's about it.
From my calculations, they removed about $4200 worth of stuff from a Street Glide, but they reduced the price by $2000, typical Harley, trying the screw its customer again.
I don't understand why someone would buy this over a used 2017 or 2018 Street Glide...
@@Silidons91 Exactly
Snake Bite removed from an ultra classic
I just bought one for $17,813.00 that's many thousands below any street glide I priced in North East Ohio..... This is my 4th Harley and my 17th Motorcycle, for me this is the perfect bike, low seat height completely customizable not too heavy for around town with some detachable things such as Trunk and Tour seat good for a 2 up long haul, I had a better stereo installed than Harley's for way cheaper and don't need stage upgrades, I went with mini floor boards for the passenger so no more hitting my calves with a passenger and the Power and torque of the 107 is light years beyond my old RoadKing I won't have 20 grand in it and it turns heads, it unique and does everything any Street Glide or Road Glide can do and will most probably last me the rest of my riding life at a ripe old age of 55.... It's PERFECT
@@TheShotakan40 Congrats on the purchase of your new bike. I was thinking about a 2019 H-D Street Glide in scorched orange but we are only a few months away from the 2020 models so i think i will hold out. I am tossed between the 20XX Indian Chieftain and the 20XX H-D Street glide. Harley does have more options and more colours but Indian has the better bike and i HATE the dash cluster on the Indian but i also hate the shocks on the Street Glide. Don't know which way i will go yet, but i have a few months to figure it out.
For $300 more msrp I would just get the Roadking. Plus it comes with the 2up seat, passages foot pegs, and the heel shifter. Other wise get a low millage used streetglide for the same price.
Totally agree.. And a much better ride. This one has 12 inch shocks and the road king has 13. The Road King is the KING! 😎👍😁
What if you prefer the batwing? I guess you could put one on a King but I’m not sure what that would cost.
If I wanted a bike with the bat wing I would just get a low millage used streetglide that I can get in a different color other than black. But if your talking new for $300 more msrp you can get the Roadking that has the 2up seat, passages pegs, and a heel shift. what ever type of bike you have your going to spend money on add ons right, But for a new bike for the money they are asking for I just don't see it. Just me though! Ride safe👊
This is a beautiful bike. I also like the Road King, but I would remove the heel shifter and put on a solo seat. I like that you can take off the windshield and it has the driving lights.
@@thetrissynashville Reckeless Motorcycles out of TN can set you up with a stereo Batwing detachable for a Roadking or other Harley's I had one on my 06 RoadKing for 900.00 it was pretty damn nice too.
shout out to Orlando Harley for continually allowing you to take these bikes out of the country!! So nice of them!
Excellent honest review no bullshit, well done. 👍
nice bike. I like you can get it in that sort of stripped down version. a lot of people don't want a darn boom box on a bike. I am one of those. I hate to hear music on a bike. I want to hear the engine. also cell phone is good but it is cellular and not gps so you will lose connectivity when in dead zones where gps is satellite and you wont. good review I think.
Great vid Block. You should see if you can do a test ride on a Roadster
I like this bike. I would like to see a Road King standard same ground clearance as this Electra Glide standard and with just a lighter headlight assembly like the Deluxe, 5 gallon fuel tank and Softail Road King classic bags.
Exactly BLOCKHEAD I just mount my Cellphone to the bars with RAM mount and use google maps with blue tooth to my helmet. So music and maps, shows me and tells me where to go when looking for food or the hotel. HD made a good decision having a low, mid, and upper class Touring models. I'm a cruiser but am putting quick disconnect bags and windshield for long rides. Then I will pop them off in the hotel.
Just bought the 2021 love it
I dont know where you came from but you easily top ANY reviewer of ANY bike in the market with quick specs/facts spoken in clear English along with a comprehensive and detailed test ride. Other wannabe reviewers including motorcycle journalists should be paying attention. Five stars. And yes, I subscribed. Take care young man. You have talent.
Thanks Michael, I appreciate the kind words and support! 👍🏼
@@BlockheadMoto im considering an Electra Glide and spoke with the gal CC and was very specific that Im considering giving them my business because of you. Which is true.
I like everything about it with the exception of the lack of the closable vent, why would they leave that off?
I love how you mentioned the "compartment" up front for your sunglasses and then proceed to put them in the saddle bag... They probably would've fallen out.. not sold on that cubbie hole....
Nice bike I like it wish it came in another colour maybe next year it will have colour choice
That’s why I have a Roadking. All the ride comfort of the touring bike but I have the optional remove the windshield .and I hate having the windshield on. I’m also afraid it would hurt the quality of my videos if the camera had to look through it.
Nice review (as always). I kinda struggle with this bike. I love the looks and the overall concept. However: over here in Germany, it's less than 2k cheaper than a Street Glide. Talking about bikes in the 26-28.000€-range, this price-difference is just too small, considering what you're missing out on. If you're in for a "cheap" tourer: buy a Sport Glide (almost 7k less than this E-Glide!), put a bigger Batwing and higher bars on it, and you're good to go.
Great Video, touring bikes rock for sure, hence why its called a Geezer Glide. I have yet to find a bike that keeps me as comfortable on a long ride as a touring bike. I still love my fatboy though and hope to add a Ducati sometime down the road and even a Ural.
Finally some riding
Freaking love it, just wish for more colors, I wish harley would do a built to order kind of thing, all available colors as an option on all models, and tanks, fenders, bars, seats, etc. you choose platform (sportster, softail, touring, etc) every part for that platform is an option
Example: sportster with chopped fender solo seat, and the 4.5 gallon tank, apes, forward controls in wicked red.
This is the only bagger that I like and I think its beautiful!
If they make a Road Glide one I might have to get me one. That’s saying a lot for me cause I’m not a touring bike guy. I love how this is a bike that doesn’t come with all the crap I don’t want or need on a bike so I can make it the way I want it.
I totally agree with all those options, don't need them. To bad the price tag is so much higher in Canada, That bike i would buy. You can charge GoPro batteries in that glove box lol. Bump it up to a 144 Stage 4,it will get up and go,like it does stock. I hate having to tuck my arm to see pass myself in the mirror.
Nice. But the price gap with Streetglide and Roadking is too small imo. Time will tell if it will be a succes.
I would get this one if I had the scratch . Also it would be cool if they did a road glide version .
The only thing I don’t agree with is the fairing not having the ability to allow the top vent to close. In my opinion, that could have been included and not stripped away with that price point. Other than that, it’s pretty sweet! 🤙
nice blank canvas. good on Harley
Enjoyed the video, smart move by Harley taking all the stuff off letting the customer buy and install.
Should have been 15,999 then it would b a hot item to buy .
I agree but was going to say 13 to 14kish, Harley is still overpriced and slow.
Totally agree for 3000 more you get so much more a lot nicer wheels radio stretched bags nicer instrument panel the list goes on bottom line this bike should be 1699
I agree with you, From my calculations, they removed about $4200 worth of stuff from a Street Glide, but they reduced the price by $2000, typical Harley, trying the screw its customer again.
@@snakebite6511 well bro i have owned several Harleys and enjoyed every one of them new ones and older ones for awhile it was every other year i was trading in one and getting a new one but now i actually own a 100th anniversary fatboy that I found in Arizona with only a little over 400 miles never thought I would own a 88 cubic inch always had the 103 and dug it i also picked up a 2006 35th anniversary superglid with low miles im totally digging on these two especially 35th Dyna im totally into HARLEY DAVIDSON MOTORCYCLES AND THE HISTORY OF THEM there's something to be said they have been around since 1903 that's a piece of AMERICAN history
@@snakebite6511 Yep, Harley is a pro at manipulating people out of their money with this kind of shit.
Nice but I'd still rather have the Road King standard. It has 2 up seating, passing lamps, floor boards for rider and passenger, and a windshield that pops right off for that wind in your face riding experience.
hmm, i see that they didn't apply the F-11 before you gave us the test ride vlog. lol
by any chance, did your legs fell like they were burning up? , reason for that question is because the '' HT '' stands for
'' high temperature '' .
besides i thought they done away with the HT line up. [ burning up peoples legs ] .
awesome video !!
I own a 2020 Eg-Standard.
Great Bike. It's more stripped down Ultra than Street Glide
The 2020 comes standard with ABS, linked breaks, cruise control as well.
anything that can go on an ultra/street glide, will fit this bike. (i put an aux headlight set on mine, among other things)
its a total blank slate for well under 20k new (sometimes it is just nice to be first on her lol)
the boom! radio is obnoxiously priced... north of 3k all in.
its plug and play if you pick up a used one, or grab a much nicer bluetooth capable amp and speakers, and use your phone as a head unit for far less
(or feed to your helmet, which is always better sound anyways).
there is a 12v port on the batwing on the right side already...
the glove box is handy in a million ways... wish it came with a door
its nice that you don't have to pay to take things off that you would normally replace and pay twice for
in a few years you will see a ton of these on the road, no 2 alike
ps. for those wondering about batwing visibility... i am 5'9" and look way over and down the road when riding, so its a non issue. there are a ton of windshield options for your riding style/needs
this is definitely an all day tourer, with in town runabout features. the M8-107 is a huge improvement over the twin cam (which was already a power plant) with a ton of torque. if you are a speed demon you can stage 1-4... (thats a WHOLE OTHER world lol)
Honestly for all that money, I think a basic am/fm/weather band radio an some good speakers would make this a huge seller! Maybe add that little wind flap back in also and I think this bike would take over the SGS market for a little while! Just my 2 pennys
Great looking bike, I like that they are doing a low-price no-frills option. But why did they call it an Electra Glide? No tour pack = Street Glide, yeah?
You should give some props to Orlando Harley South on Rt192 & Formosa Gardens Boulevard.
That's a great move by H-D. If they want more millennials buying their bikes, this is one way to do it.
I have no use for built-in navigation (phone), speakers (Bluetooth, also don't like blasting my music), tons of chrome (blacked out all the way), passenger seat (forever alone). 👍
I can pretty much copy and paste this comment and it would be me speaking. LOL Great minds think....
Lol forever alone is so relatable
I like this bike more than anything I've seen. I could add a stereo in, just a basic stereo and banging speakers
@Johnny Appleseed I dont run into a ton of millenials, but I think they are buying smaller more higher performing bikes that do better in urban areas and not the 850 lb touring bikes. I also dont run into them at beemer or guzzi rallies - its all old guys like me at sturgis, bmoa and guzzi rallies, too. I dont know if this sport/hobby/method of travel is gonna see the sales peaks of years gone by.
@Johnny Appleseed alot of us old guys want med sized scramblers or enduros or dual sports. I think that segment is healthy. beemer sells a lot of its gs line. I have test road the scr950 yamaha and the dealers in my metro are discounting those to 6 grand. a steal imho. heavy, med power but fun and cheap
The standard is the best choice for people that dislike all the bells and whistles that the majority of the touring models have plus it provides a very good base for customisations.
This is a good move. I prefer basic over glitz.
Mark was my salesman for my 2019 FLTRXS.
Harley finally did something right and brought back one of the most customizable touring bikes at a realistic price point 🤘 rock on
If I were to buy a new HD this would be the one. It's still a bit more money than a Concours 14 or FJR 1300 though. I removed the stereo from my BMW R1150RT since I have a Sena and a cell phone as you mentioned.
An-Cap Roads 1150 RT rocks!
Coupon code do it with Dan lol! Been a long time since I heard that. Good info. Def a possible next purchase for me. Can’t wait
Personally, I'd spend a little more and get the Road Glide or Street Glide. We're talking only a couple thousand more for what I think is the better bike. I mean, why not?
because the extra money goes into a trashcan radio/speaker setup that you'd want to blow the $$ upgrading anyway.
This is pretty much all I need or want, I hope it's not to popular or HD will find a reason to raise their price before I have a chance to check one out.
Price point is good especially if your going to put an aftermarket stereo in it!
Curious....are the red strips on the back of the bags actual lights or reflectors? And if lights, what operation (run/directionals/brakes)?
I honestly am switching from the Fat Boy being my next bike to this being my next bike. Just the customization abilities a that much better. Another great vid man, thanks for not making our city look like shit lol
only thing didnt answer is the only thing that jumps out about this bike...... is it just reflectors on the back of the bags, or actually lights?
Its basically a road king with a bat fairing luv it! Brilliant move hd!
Nice test ride as usual. My offer still stands for you to test ride my modified Fat Bob the 1st week of May.
Blockhead, Nice Motorcycle and review.
i'm korean and i love harley, i'm very interesting about electra glide stranded model but abs is really option? For real? But plz harley we need cheap and nice glide in Korea
Hola senior Blockhead, we have radar guns down here too. Lol!!
Do you think it might have a fluid transfer issue or oil sumping problem? Did you ask the salesman about that? Did you research the issue?
I personally think less is better I've always bought the low end base model bike harly has to offer because
I like to heart your opinion about honda rebel.
i feel like when you were driving out of the dealership at 3:00 you cut out because you fell or hit something on the way out
So the cubby hole in the fairing looks like the dash kits in older cars where the CD player would be mounted above and you had a rectangular hole/space below it. It looks kinda weird but honestly I'd rather have the space over a Harley infotainment that I would never use. I fully support Harley making affordable options.
Phone GPS is great until you get up into the mountains. I love that it does not have abs! I'm not a fan of having to take my bike to the dealer to bleed the brakes.
@@-Jason-L never used them.
This is kinda funny. The Electra Glide used to be the full luxury bike with the touring pack, and the Street glide was the cheaper version minus the touring pack. Now the Street Glide is uber expensive and fully luxo barged out save for the tour pack and the new Electra Glide is kinda taking the spot the Street Glide took when it first came out, and of course the Ultra is the new uber luxo barge with touring pack.
