  • The Woodill Wildfire was the first fiberglass sports car produced in the early 1950s, even before Corvette. The Woodill Wildfire was built by Dodge and Willys dealer Blanchard Woodill from 1952 to 1958 in Downey, California. It used a Glasspar fiberglass body and is the first complete fiberglass car available. There were 15 Woodill Wildfires produced and another 285 sold as kits. Woodill Wildfires were virtually hand built. each car was made to customer specifications. Three of the first cars had the Willys six, while two ran Ford flat-head V8s. One car used a “nailhead” V8, along with headlight bezels, all sourced from Buick, another was Cadillac-powered.
