    Gentlemen, always remember this Italian saying: L'educazione è come una camicia bianca: Non passa mai di moda! In English: Manners are like a white dress shirt: It will never be out of style! Cheers from Cologne, Germany!

    Can't forget industrial design and architectural detail from the ages from the Roman times. These have imprinted the entire culture in Italy, so one can only appreciate the styling of cars, painting, modern buildings, classical Roman buildings which is also reflected in clothing. But another is simply the Italian language. Italian is satisfying to listen to, and even disasters sound like romantic operas. Then the last names -- most Italian surnames ending with "i". This ending is wonderful to exhale and most design houses are based on the surname alone, because of the sophisticated sounds created. That's why Italians almost rule the world on trending exclusive design.

    Great video and 100% agreed. I'm an American and often feel guilty buying nice clothes for myself (I'm a huge Brooks Brothers fan) even though most are for work.

      Thanks Alexander! Personally I set aside 10% of my income so I have a budget for clothes and that helps me feel less guilty about it! Happy you enjoyed the video

    Yes, another enjoyable video. I have fond memories of growing up during the 1960 in America; everyone dressed well. People that did manual labor dressed better then than some do now while going out on the town. Salesman, bankers and news correspondents all wore suits. Spectators at sporting events and concerts were well dressed. I do not recall the term used in Italy about how you should dress while out and about. The term makes reference to dressing well to represent your family.

      Thank you, Arthur. I do think the way people dress is a reflection of society and I appreciate learning about your memories growing up in that time. I'm not quite familiar with the Italian term you are referring to, but if someone is able to point it out I would love to research that more.

    Very good video. You got me thinking about spending more time in the mirror. I am going to shave off this beard today. I have been wearing one for a couple of months. Not because of style but because as we get older shaving becomes so tedious. One thing about Italian style is to be cautious about fit. They seem to like tighter a fit. I get inspired by 30's and 40's movies. Elegance was seen everywhere. High rise and pleated trousers. Double breasted suits. Sportcoats worn in their private lives. Thank you for another great discussion.

      I'm glad my video inspired you to change things up! Yes, the Italian style is traditionally very close to the body, which has become the norm in US tailoring these days too. American 40s and Italian 60s are two great style eras in my opinion

    Gent I live in Italy...a lot can't be bothered with style, most have an eye on what they put on and some are very put together. I follow the colour rules..don't look like an ice cream and looked pressed

      Are you sure ? In London there were so many well dressed people I was stunned, I've only been twice in England for couple of weeks but I've spent a lot of time in Italy, and while there are some well dressed people overall I can't say it's better than Austria or Slovenia or some others, while London and Amsterdam definitely are standing out from the rest. The thing I like most about Italy is care free and relaxed attitude of people.

      I lived in London for five years and I never thought it to be particularly well-dressed, but I suppose it depends on where you are comparing it to?@@Denis-mg1wj

      @@Gent.Z well I'm comparing it to Berlin, Trieste, Hamburg etc Compared to London and Amsterdam I feel like people in Berlin dress quite bad, like they don't care. Of course not everyone but general population, people you see everyday on the street. And I also feel it has gotten worse in past couple of years. It might be just an impression because I've spent much more time Berlin.

    I live in the Como region of Italy. Italian style works well in Italy but often would not work in other European countries. Too often, it is simply over the top with flair to the point it looks like a costume. Another terrible fashion choice is Italian men wearing numerous bead bracelets, both on one hand or both. It's not a good look.

  • @Denis-mg1wj
    @Denis-mg1wj 6 місяців тому

    The most well dressed people I'we seen were English and Dutch, Italy, Germany and some others can't really compare, not that there are not well dressed people in Italy or Germany but on average, or maybe my impression, is English and Dutch dress better.
