Totally agree, would have been so cool to put an IPS in there! This was an older Boxy Pixel shell and it could only fit the AGS101 lcd. However, all the newer shells can fit both the IPS and the 101. Cheers!
@iVirtualPlays Based on this side by side (ua-cam.com/video/NQ59cYJDGqg/v-deo.html), the colors look about the same, and the IPS screen is so much easier on the eyes and just all around better looking by not having the lines between each individual pixel. There's always rechargable AA for batteries.
I do appreciate the video! Not my favorite method so far for the mid pieces used but it looks nice! I am trying to get a GBA to do a mod here soon. Never soldered before , am nervous. The Funnyplay IPS V2 LCD really doesn't function well in the aluminum casing, (Unless you don't mind the picture in some GBA games being cut off on the right front side and bottom front side of the console.) 1. because the screen ratio is much larger and portions of the screen will be cut off. 2. a custom ratio glass or plastic lens cover would be needed from funny play. 3. You'd need to dremel the right front side of aluminum shell the average person is not well equipped for that. Final thoughts: The best method in having an aluminum shell is going the AGS-101 screen.

Great question! If I remember correctly I think there’s a hole that allows you to see the led light on the charging pcb. If there isn’t a hole (I know the GBC boxy pixel shell has a hole) the LED is bright enough to see it through the USB opening. Hope that helps. Cheers bud!

Macho Nacho Productions yes, the new Mario laser shell, with a funnyplying IPS screen. Everything worked to a T until I swapped new L/R bumpers, not sure the issue.
Nice, that’s a really cool shell! What I would do first is double check your solder joints on the power board. Since it seems to be an issues involving power. I agree! It is expensive, I wish it was cheaper but I think the price that Boxy Pixel charges is fair given the amount of work that went into the design, materials used, and low volume of manufacturing.
So its okay to use a 5 V pcb to a 3.7 battery? Just wondering because I want to mod mine. If wording it correctly dont know if you understand what Im asking. Lol
Hmm that's a good question but I am not sure I understand. Can you send me a link to the PCB you are referring to? That will help me understand. Cheers Jonathan!

Haha, it is extremely solid!
Looking to get one of these relatively soon, but I'd opt out of using the sticker on the back. There's no exact spot for it, and I think it just looks out of place.
It’s a great shell! It’ll look great without the sticker too!
Ive got a question the shell isnt openable so how would i be able to hold the batterys in witouth a battery holder
If they only did this with the original DS so I could trust the hinge not to break.
It's beautiful, yet way too expensive. How can you afford that, without it hurting you?
I agree! It is expensive, I wish it was cheaper but I think the price that Boxy Pixel charges is fair given the amount of work that went into the design, materials used, and low volume of manufacturing.
Would have preferred the IPS screen..
Both have their pros and cons. The IPS is definitely a great option! Cheers buddy!
Can you make holes for the GameCube and Wireless controllers accessories support on the BoxyPixel Game Boy Advance aluminum shell?
I’m sure it could be done but I think it would be quite difficult. Thanks for the question!
Macho Nacho Productions You’re welcome! You should make a video about that in the future! And also, what video will it be about after this
Vitzie629's Gaming/Technology Channel I’m still thinking about it, but I may do the McWill recharge kit for the game boy color.
@@MachoNachoProductions the pcb you have linked on the description is a input 5V pcb type c and in the battery shows 3.7 V. I want to know if the amount of voltage through the pcb 5V will affect the battery that state 3.7V. If Im making any sense here . Thanks for replying
Ah gotcha! It should be totally fine! I’m not extremely knowledgeable when it comes to electrics but this was the recommended board from boxy pixel and he really knows his stuff. I don’t think you need to worry. Thank you for asking and apologies if I didn’t help too much. Cheers Jonathan!
@@MachoNachoProductions thanks! I'm just over thinking too much about those little things. Lol love your videos.
Haha! Your good man! No worries! So glad you enjoy the videos bud!! Cheers!
Hagane no Gameboy? Or Full Metal Gamboy?
That's a tough choice, Hagane is a pretty rare game.
@@MachoNachoProductions I meant full metal alchemist lmao
ultimate all meRal gameboy advance
How much does it weigh?
Such a shame these shells don’t offer support for the hdmi mod
... it needs a rechargeable battery too
Are the two holes in the side for the GameCube cable there?
In my version there weren’t any. Not sure if he updated the design though
@@MachoNachoProductions good timing. I had just started watching a different video on this same product.
Ahhhh yes, what more could somebody want. A cold, ugly and stupidly reflective GameBoy Advance that breaks your back as well as your wallet! Neat!
I know I’m in the minority but I always thought the aesthetics of the original design were much more attractive than the SP. now, I need to say that’s only in regards to design. I much much prefer the SP
I too am a fan of the horizontal layout! Cheers!
