Oh I want to try these so bad, especially the chestnut and brown sugar. I think it's lovely the use of nature with the leaves and bamboo. And if I lived in Japan I would need a place for all the packaging. They are so beautiful I'd never want to throw them away.😆
These looks so pretty! i love the presentation for all of these. I'm very interested in the mugwort mochi. I've never had it before. I would imagine it to be very herbal and bitter. I like bitter flavors a lot. The idea of yuzu mochi has me salivating! I love all the artwork as well!
It is one of my favorite mochi. I hear that if it's not prepared properly, it'll taste bitter, but from my own experience, it has always had a nice mild sweet flavor. I'm guessing the sweetness comes from the mochi and filling so it battles out whatever bitterness is left from the mugwort. It's really good. I 100% recommend it.
Here's a dumb question (maybe): the mochi wrapped in leaves, do you eat the leaves as well or do you take it off before eating the mochi? I'd try all of them. So far, I haven't had a single Japanese sweet that I didn't like, it's all delicious.
The Sakura mochi? The leaves are preserved (usually pickled) and fine to eat, though too much is going to cause restroom issues later. The Sakura tree provides good flavors in small quantities, too much is toxic though a little is fine.
The packing for all of these sweets is gorgeous! Definitely would be a very special gift.
oh! thank you!!;)
