Your attention to detail is excellent man. I’m just starting to build out my lady’s 2015 2 door rubicon for camping trips and these are the type of videos that really help! Thank you
Nice. You should check out the Titan Trail Trekker 2 - it holds twelve gallons behind your spare tire. 12! It saved my ass on more than one occasion and really lets you get way off grid without worrying about gas…
Plz need help I have the propane tank mount similar but I don't know how to Strap it to the tire plzz plzzz asap if possible I leaving soon for my big trip and I would like to have info about it
Awesome! How did you mount your power tank propane mount to your rocks like. I have the same, but the holes in the rocks like don't kine up with power tank holes?. Thanks
You can't crank a ratchet strap to the point of tight on a flat tire? Seems like this would work even if the rubber completely came off and you just had the wheel to strap to. Am I missing something?
@@macairtuber No, simply. Look at the base plates, they are too shallow of an angle to mate to the right angle of the wheel, unless you tightened them to the point of bending them to fit, in which there’s a good chance they’ll break anyways. If you don’t tighten them to this point they will definitely slide and fail with so little surface area and it being metal on metal. Maybe if you had a flat you could torque this against the flat tire until stationary. But overall it’s a bad design. Best bet is to not use your tires as a mounting surface for extra stuff.
@@turtledunkknucklebaby8089 yeah might not work on a bare wheel but just a flat tire will provide plenty of ‘meat’ to tighten the strap. And worse case scenario - dump the 5 gallons of fuel into the Jeep to reduce the strapped weight or to toss the empty jerrycan and small propane tank in the back. The average off-roader / overlander won’t ever get a flat on the trail in their lifetime. Ymmv - literally.
Is that your original license plate holder or did you move it there? Need to relocate mine and the center of the tire where you have it, would be perfect for mine!
Hi, i like this set up and thinking about doing the same thing. Did u happen to buy the gas tray by it self? I called the company and they said they sell the mounting bracket with it. Thanks in advance.
That bracket is specifically made to hold a 5lb tank and a 30lb is significantly larger in diameter and length. They do make brackets for tank that large, but it would be hard to make it work in that location. Did you mean a 10lb perhaps?
Yes! The pattern on the rockslide mounting surface is drilled for rotopax mounts. I went down to the hardware store and bolts some large grade 8 stuff then if memory serves me I drilled out the rock slide plate, but either or
I’m honestly not familiar with the lifesaver jerry or it’s dimensions sorry 🤷♂️ if it is the same size as a standard Jerry can then it will for sure work 🤷♂️
Thanks. Anther great setup idea I like for the propane. Is there a reason for the gasoline tank mount you didn't use the 4 gallon rotopax mount and container? Would it block access to the tailgate handle?
Just wondering since it's now been about a year, how has it worked out so far? Rock Slide's not saying whether or not they support the LP mounting there and Teraflex (or was it Northridge) asked me why I would mount it there instead of somewhere "more solid". In other words, I bout the EZ rack kit too for the same purpose and want to make sure it's viable. Thanks
The setup is still perfect for me. I can’t imagine where else I would mount my jerry can and propane tank. Other than taking the whole setup off to get new tires put on a month or so back it has been on my spare every single day with zero issues and hasn’t budged. It’s still rock solid and sitting on my spare as I type this. The tank is in a perfect location for my stove when it’s on my tailgate table and also perfect for powering my on demand hot water heater for my shower room which sits just above it on the passenger side.
I used 4 grade 8 bolts with washers on both sides to secure the power tank bracket to the rock slide plate and it’s as solid as can be. The holes didn’t line up perfectly so I had to drill new holes, otherwise it’s flawless.
Yeah I can see how that would be a concern, especially if you already have an oversized spare, adding that weight would not be ideal. The reinforced hinge/tire carrier definitely elevate that worry.
Great video. I ended up getting the same setup with the rockslide strap and the powertank propane tank holder. The holes on the rockslide and the powertank bracket don’t exactly match up. Did you have to drill holes through the powertank bracket for it to fit the rockslide strap brackets?
No worries I’m glad you liked the setup, just make sure to elevate the tank mounting location so you don’t crack your taillight lol I ended up just centering the tank mount on the plate then used the tank mount as a templet to punch then drill holes 👍🏻
Nice setup. Do you know how well the mount works if you had it mounted to a flat tire? (If you needed to use your spare) I assume you would just crank down the ratchet and it would still fit securely?
Yes! I run the Teraflex Alpha Hinged Carrier with the HD Adjustable Spare Tire Mounting Kit. I’ve had it for about 5 years and I absolutely love it. It’s bomb proof! It’s the best thing Teraflex makes lol and is the most OEM fit & finish product of its type on the market 👍🏻
Hey boss this might be a stupid question but I’m just getting into overlanding/off roading. While starting to outfit my Jeep, I started wondering how safe it is traveling with your propane tank on the outside of your Jeep? With varying wether conditions, all the jostling around and the changing of altitudes have you ever experienced anything crazy or dangerous with the tank? I know it’s probably a dumb thing to ask but better safe than sorry right. Thanks in advance.
Should make tutorial on the propane mount
Your attention to detail is excellent man. I’m just starting to build out my lady’s 2015 2 door rubicon for camping trips and these are the type of videos that really help! Thank you
Perfect just what I was looking for WITHOUT drilling
Gregory Anderson glad you found it useful 👍🏻

Love the idea, but how do you fix this setup when you have a tire blowout and need your spare. Will it work with a damaged tire the same way?
Plz need help I have the propane tank mount similar but I don't know how to Strap it to the tire plzz plzzz asap if possible I leaving soon for my big trip and I would like to have info about it
I secured it using the Rockslide Eng ez rack
Hey I like that. I’m gonna investigate this further.
Awesome I’m glad you like it 👍🏻
Awesome! How did you mount your power tank propane mount to your rocks like. I have the same, but the holes in the rocks like don't kine up with power tank holes?. Thanks
I drilled out new holes in the power tank mount to work with the rockslide plate 👍🏻
Nice lil set up
I have been searching for something like this for a 2 door, but props for the propane idea-I'll use that:) cheers
leftystrat62 Awesome! Glad to know you found this useful 👍🏻

@@KramerJunction just a quick question. Did you have to alter the propane mount in any way to mount it on the rock slide engineer mount? Thanks
@@davids5006 yes I had to drill out holes to match the bolt patterns
@@KramerJunction thank you sir.. Ordering my propane mount now
What size bolts did you use for rock slide to propane tank mount?
If I recall they were grade 8 M10, but they were oversized for the holes. Some M8 or 3/8” would be more than adequate 👍🏻
So if you get a flat tire. You now have to put these fuel tanks inside the vehicle. Till the flat is repaired.
Yeah it is dependent on your spare having pressure in it

Mind letting me know how and what brand rear license plate relocation bracket you went with?
Thanks.
Do you know which power tank mount you used? The mount I got doesn’t align with the holes on the ez rack mounts
The hole patterns ARE NOT the same. I had the drill one out to get them to match up 👍🏻

No I relocated it there. If you go back in my playlist, I actually made a video about the parts I used 👍🏻
Mind sharing what brand of rear license plate relocation bracket you went with?
Has it held up well?
Thanks.

Looking good, Kramer Junction! Looks very clean
Power Tank Official Thank you so much! I appreciate it!

A Rotopax would have also worked, I’m just a fan of steel Jerry Cans and really like the look and function of them 🤷♂️

I had that setup on there for quite a while before I made at video also. It’s probably been on the rear of the Jeep since nov 2019
@@KramerJunction ohh you did have to drill holes! Excellent will be doing that tomorrow!
Came over from FB 👍. How does the tail gate handle the extra weight?
I have the Teraflex reinforced tailgate hinge, so the tailgate doesn’t even feel it. I notice no difference opening and closing it 👍🏻
I have been looking at that EZ Rack but im always worried about extra weight hanging on the tires.
