  • After cleaning out the fuel cells from the left over foam debris it was time to put the fuel cells back together. We received new fuel pumps to install in both cars to start fresh at the beginning of this upcoming 2020 season. It will be required to install foam again into the fuel cells but we'll be getting into that at a later time. The important thing about reassembly is to work clean and make sure everything inside the cell is properly secured.
I will be documenting the entire season from my perspective a Vlog style format. I plan on having technical explanations of these cars and their components as well as some footage from the races, the travel and everything/anything else that may come up along the way.

You would think vw motorsport would supply a new bladder free of charge to teams given this is clearly a manufacturing or design issue.. I'm sure they are stupid expensive though

It doesn't work that way unfortunately. We had an issue with one of these cars in 2018 where it was losing pressure internally due to a quick disconnect line not seating/locking properly.. Even though these cars had less than a few hundred km on them at the time it's still our responsibility to fix. No manufacturer warranties when it comes to race cars unfortunately. The bladder itself is very expensive and while this is a known issue it's considered fixable. The key is repacking the cell with foam without using adhesive.
