For the soft spot, I'm in ND similar soil, strip 6 inches below grade lay matting, put crushed concrete down 2 inches at a time and lightly water than 2 more until about 6 inches above grade. Rough numbers but you will love it and it's cheap. The cement isn't all hydrated so when you water it it will harden and the rock locks together really well. I do a few drive ways a year like that and never had any problems.
@Wikkitt Klown hahaahahah that's exactly right I have 2 kuhn mowers and 1 had a gearbox go our dealer located 1 at john deere because they used to sell these haymowers only green and they wanted 35% more for a green one so we waited on ours to be shipped
Mr Millennial, I are a old logger so call me a cavetime adviser: Take something that can get down in that soft spot a good three minimum feet, It would be better if it were a good five or so till you figure out how this works... stack logs from your forest there, like the one that has little value as it will here. Build a cord wood bed across the muddy spot an past a bit. Then fully bury with your rock mud making sure that the cord wood is totally covered. What happens is above ground and not touching dirt, it dries and hardens or in the ground totally buried it will stay sound for years but if it gets air, then it will rot in a season. It is the same as using mats to move equipment across the mud / muskeg here and lasts for many years as in like some here are twenty to thirty years old and we are driving various rigs across it for miles as it just is ice deep down an our warm summers is bringing the frost out of the ground. I know it is embarrassing to have rotten corn, bean or otherwise laying around the food bins but it happens. I think if it drys enough then you can get to it and shovel it into a area that the skidsteer can load it up and your can use it for composting the soil. I don't know if it would try to seed the area or not but I am confident a farmer can figure it out. Those logs should do the trick but try to get a couple layers on the spot needing covered
To fix the frost heave, dig out two feet deep, check how soft it is if it is soft (can push a #4 rebar in the ground) dig another foot, place non woven geotextile and backfill the excavation with gravel and sand fill that has less than 8% fines. That should support even your loaded semi.
Zach, get a safety harness and a tie off lanyard for when you need to climb a) up the bin ladders and b) need to crawl around in the bin on top of the grain stored. As kids we used to play in the bins in the stored barley / wheat, never realizing the danger present. Until one of my brothers almost got swallowed in the grain. Harnesses and lanyards are a BIG issue in the oilpatch and I've learned that they're cheap compared to a lost life.

The corn/beans when wet (moist) tend to stick to each other and while filling a bin can form air pockets that stay there tell they get disturbed. Person climbing on them
Poor quality grain caused by poor growing conditions (weather) means the crop doesn't store as well and have tendency to rot in spots, causing crusting, air gaps, and more reasons to need to enter bins. Just a deadly combination that has claimed many lives lately

Im going to start reaching out to all farmers regarding this notion so we can all be ready from the wrong doers in control of this government who are threatening our freedoms & rigjts each day. I hope & pray that you could share this notion with each & every farmer you know regarding, paying it forward with love and kindness insted of using money. If this nation would turn to kindness to pay it forward, then all the simple essentials would become free! We need to neighbor up our surrounding communities and password on so we cansupport each other and be ready for what's to come. Aslo do not use violence, because thats what thay want us to do so that fives them probable cause to harm us and brand us domestic terrorists. Plz start to neighbor up and pass the word on to all because our rights & freedoms depends on everyone neighboreing up wirh eachother. @05:30: What you call the "brow", I have always heard people refer to as the "moustache". When you look at one all by itself, you can probably see why. Regardless, the function it serves is to make the gauge wheels walk over bumps, like the Roll-o-Matic front end on narrow front end John Deere row crop tractors from the 1950-60's. The row unit end up lifting only half of the height of the bump that way. I an employed at John Deere.

Thanks for showing your appreciation to us. Most people don't understand that there is more to it than putting seed in ground and harvesting.
Also, shout out to the people who keep energy and water infrastructure maintained and running as well as thanks to all the clerks still working in essential stores.
”Don’t touch any buttons” usually translates to “push every button at once “ for anyone younger than ten...
Few years ago young kid chewed up his dad in a combine here
Climbed out to unplug a bad block
Kid put it in gear by accident just fiddling
Bloody rough
Becky doesn’t know you bought that missing tractor?🤣🤣🤣
You never wanna tell the wife about big purchases until it's too late to take them back, right?
And when you die hope that your wife doesn’t sell your tractors for what you told her you paid for them!!
@@paddylur Ouch, never heard that one before OUCH! lol
Thank you Zack for farming. And keeping us fed.
Love your channel. Love you. Your a regular good guy. Im very fortunate to work from home right now as well. Thank you to everyone in the trenches right now!
“So I tore into the planter” that statement only means bye bye money
shoutout to heineken who make staying home with wife alot easyer :D
Thanks to you too Zach, and all farmers out there. People will realise in a few months, when food continues to miraculously appear in the stores, when milk is still being stocked fresh etc, that farming is an industry that doesn’t care for pandemics and it certainly can’t just pause itself for a few months. Stay safe.
Thanks for speaking up for the men and women getting it done S.Coulardot.
This is going to get looked over but what is your favorite John Deere tractor on your farm. Mine is the 8400 and 8235. Also hi from the neighboring state SD
dude, we all know why you're using the different tractor lol. You've teased that handsome tractor at Midwest machinery quite a bit now lol
I’m a 3rd generation vol. firefighter and poultry farmer I appreciate your thanks and hope you have a good harvest this year
Family Doc from a farming family, really enjoy your videos and keeping it real for the non farmers that get pounded with bad info on a regular basis
“Smush it into the hitch” - Instructions from a JD manual.
Oh good lord, I can imagine a drill sergeant farming..."CORN!! YOU WILL STAND TALL AND IN LINE!! DO IT NOW!!!!"
🤣🤣
Lol
Including YOU! Thank you too! You are feeding the country!
Thank you MN Millennial Farmer! Everyone stay safe and keep the greasy side down!
I saw the title of the video and said to myself what did you do this time
you know your getting old when you start saying things like " are you recking my lawn"
🤣🤣
Thank you Zach, I’m a truck driver and thank you and your fellow farmers for what they do.
Zach, I love your videos and have been watching for a long time, During this Covid 19 shutdown I keep hearing about healthcare and first responders. They are very important and I am truly blessed that they are all on the job. However every day, every video and every product that you and others rely upon has everything to do with having power. No one has thanked these people for doing their job. So here is a shout out to all the men and women who have continued to provide us all with the essential comfort we so readily forget.
Thanks
Same with phone/internet, can't work/school from home or swipe your card without it.
That 2nd tractor that Becky was talking about is going on your farm isn’t it
Not sure what you're talking about...
Millennial Farmer at the end when she said wasn’t there another tractor there I just think that it was a hint for future videos
He said that the tractor may be in the shop. how does he know that? It must be getting prepped for service!
Can you explain the issues with the 2019 crop in the storage bins? City boy doesn’t understand...........Thanks for such a cool channel and videos!
The corn/beans when wet (moist) tend to stick to each other and while filling a bin can form air pockets that stay there tell they get disturbed. Person climbing on them
Can also happen with dryer corn beans
Poor quality grain caused by poor growing conditions (weather) means the crop doesn't store as well and have tendency to rot in spots, causing crusting, air gaps, and more reasons to need to enter bins. Just a deadly combination that has claimed many lives lately
@@MillennialFarmer that dif explains it better dad started farming in the 80s money got bad went back to flying but I still worked on farms and family farm(nebraska) I remember that's how grandpa explained it
Millennial Farmer Thank you sir for the informative explanation! Thank you also for a great you tube channel and such great content! You’ve taught me so very amazing things I didn’t know and for that I’m grateful! Take care of your family and hoping we beat this virus sooner than later I need to get back to work!
Thank u for ur support Zack I have been a firefighter for 7 years still going so thank you
Thank you as well Zach❤️much love!
Anyone else thinking he is getting an 8RX
First thing that came to my mind
I am going with that too...wonder if they are trading the 8260?
As a demo yes
@@jamesbainton I dunno bout the 8rx, it might make an appearance for a quick spring Demo, I do think they might be planting with a shiny new planter this year though
19:11 was basically the give-away.
Did I really hear you tell a female “not to push buttons”? Umm... it’s there nature to :
;)
I Thankyou you Zach for addressing the important people during these difficult times, but most importantly this country moves by truck and as a extrucker I couldn't imagine facing these difficult times especially trying to find a place to eat other than a truck stop and the farmers feeding America. And all our medical workers and military stepping up to help out where needed. Watching you explain things about working your planter over as when I was involved with farming as a hiredman I would work machinery over during the winter in the shop where it was out of the wind in front of a knipco to stay warm. And I totally reworked every row on a 12 row from fold back in the mid 80's and the boss came in the shop and I said I was done with the planter and he says Oh
I have some news for you I traded the planter off for a new one and they will be coming out to get this one and I'm like really lol. I love your videos and your line of green machinery.
Great beginning comments, you and those you mentioned are the backbone of America. God bless and protect all of you. Happy Easter.
When’s the next off the husk the Mr.
millennial
Maple Rey Farm we released one on Monday the next will be two weeks out.
@@MillennialFarmer Greetings Zach im Nick. I hope you dont think im crazy from what I want to share with you. My dad is always saying something he tells me to share with others so when the time comes we are all prepared for the end game.
Im reaching out to you regarding a notion that my dad talks about. What do you think if this Nation were to Neighbor up with eachother & dishonor all money and turned to love & kindness to pay it forward?
Im going to start reaching out to all farmers regarding this notion so we can all be ready from the wrong doers in control of this government who are threatening our freedoms & rigjts each day.
I hope & pray that you could share this notion with each & every farmer you know regarding, paying it forward with love and kindness insted of using money.
If this nation would turn to kindness to pay it forward, then all the simple essentials would become free! Like free food, free housing, free healthcare, free travel without borders & free from crime because money wouldn't be the root to all evil anymore! And much much more if we all were to neighbor up with eachother!
Well with that said i leave you with 💗 kindness & blessings for you and everyone around in good times and in bad times 🙋
@stevemincer i dont know if you heard yet but the wrong doers in control of this Goverment are telling farmers to stop producing and stop farming as well. The end game agenda is about to roll out soon and that will be the end to our freedoms & rights as we know it. Its time to neighbor up and pay it forward with KINDNESS!!! And BEWARE of infiltrators that will create us from neighboring up and causing violence that will keep people from neighboring up with eachother. Keep in mind that the nation has been infiltrated by these vary same people who want to take our freedoms away and set their wicked agendas upon this nation. Blessings and may the Grace of God be with you all 🙋 i will keep doing my part on my end!
Kinda funny how farmers are considered one of the most important jobs in the world but yet we make so much less money how does that happen.
A BIG THUMBS UP for the idea of a flag on your grain beans. A son and son-In-law of veterans I say thank you
Hey zach, my son in law was stationed in fort Leonard wood. Him and my daughter just moved to Germany for 3 years. That part of Missouri is nice country. Lots of smaller farmers/ranchers.
Zac: Ila, don't push any buttons
Ila:Pushes all the buttons and the truck starts rolling
Zack, when you go through the top of a road, you have to dig it out a bit over 2 feet deep and pack in hard clay (pack it down), if you can find some, and cover with pit run, then screened gravel. Otherwise like you said, you will be dealing with it for 10 years or so.
God bless, stay safe
If it wasn't for people like Travis we couldn't do anything like we do on a daily basis. Thank you to all the men and women who give us the opportunity to do what we love and be free
Zack Johnson, the actor who plays Millennial Farmer (not the golfer) is a character!! The hints and build up for spring planting with an 8rx is suspenseful!! The question for fans is not whether there'll be an 8rx on the farm, but whether it's owned or a demo??!! Great vid
I absolutely LOVE how you are with your kids!!!! You are an amazing father!!!
17:35 "Don't push any button, got it?" **cut to a far wide shot with a semi truck exploding in the distance**
Thank you to all those that you mentioned.
I love these videos, my dad farmed for years before I came along. I’m now out of the house and in the Air Force as an aircraft mechanic. All of my military buddies and I watch your videos together during free times in the shop. And my dad absolutely loves them too, he watches every new video right when it comes out! Thanks for creating such a great channel!
Indeed, much better than whats on TV nowadays
Yup, the truckers, retail workers, warehouse eorkers, health professionals, police, firemen, EMTs, and thanking all farmers as well, for everything you all do to keep the food chain chainin’
Had a really good friend when I was early teens 20+ yrs ago hop in a grain bin, he never made it out. Stay safe, thanks for all u guys do.
This trucker thanks you back zach!!! It feels good go be appreciated every now and again. Thank you for farming also though without yall no one would eat
Thanks for sharing with us. You have a lovely family too! Stay safe.
Hi Zach!
What's up man?
My name is Yossi. I'm 36 years old. I've been in agriculture for about my entire life. I live in a small town in southern of Israel. We have 6500 acres where we grow wheat for silage, wheat for grain, corn for silage, sweet corn for eating, potatoes, carrots onions and beets. We also have 125 acres of almonds and another 60 acres of peaches. I am the one responsible for the irrigation of all crops.
I recently started following you on UA-cam, and man I have to tell you I am living my dream through your videos .. I think you are a great farmer and a awesome father and husband. I really enjoy watching your videos, even my 6 year old daughter sometimes sits with me and we see your videos together. My dream is to work on a farm just like yours in the United States.
Dude hope that you will continue the awesome work you do, in videos and especially in agriculture!
P.s
Im sorry for my english.. keep on rocking!
For ruts in the yard ill use filter fabric. Just lay down and cover with 3 inches of gravel and forget it forever.
Your little boss is soo cute . What a personality!
Zack, get yourself a couple rolls of geo textile fabric. Looks like a filter fabric.
Scrape up that stone, lay down the fabric, spread stone back over it-it’s like magic. Looks silly and doesn’t seem to make a lotta sense but it works.
Thank you Zach and the rest of the farmers. You provide for our country 🇺🇸🇺🇸❤️
thank you to all food producers, farmers and everyone u mentioned
