Zach Johnson, the “Millennial Farmer” is a 5th-generation farmer who’s spent his life growing, working, and learning on his family’s farm. His wit and dry sense of humor appeal to children and adults alike. A product of the millennial generation, his appreciation of new technology blends with his old-fashioned work ethic, and he offers a unique ability to deliver his message in a way that resonates with lifelong farmers as well as those with no knowledge of agriculture.
With growing consumer awareness about where their food comes from, Zach has identified the need for an independent voice from the front lines of agriculture. Zach actively promotes agriculture by sharing his day-to-day experiences in the agriculture world while providing farmer-to-farmer education to help facilitate a collaborative conversation between farmers and the public.

I have no farm experience whatsoever but this has quickly became one of my favorite channels to watch
Adam Ellsworth You should look into “Mike Mitchell’s” channel. Mike has a few “Individual Fields” that are larger in size than Zack’s entire operation.
Same here, it has even motivated me to keep learning on the subject, and heck, maybe combine it with my own line of work.
That's awesome, thank you!!
I work in South Dakota as a seasonal worker and management. To watch your channel has kept me up to date and really like your channel. Feels like I know you personaly 😜 I am unfortunately stuck in South Africa because of covit. Hopefuly this will end soon. But for now. Keep on what you are doing. It's even entertaining for my 3 year old to. Thank you Zach.
I started watching him when my son was born. I had hours to kill while holding a new born. 2.5 years later, I still searching with Clyde. MF, Cole the Corn Star, Saskutch Kid and the 10th generation farmer are my news sources.

Thanks to you for the shout out for Andy! Nice to see others to care about others!
My 7yr boy saw the title and said "This is the day he sends the money! Not to us, but to farmers".
He's excited you hit your goal
The ultimate millenial way of farming is to watch others do it on UA-cam. No dirt on hands, difficult and tedious tasks are done for us and edited out with a snap of the fingers, exciting and educational commentary that makes us think we know a lot about farming afterwards, fun jokes and good vibes from a great family and all that tractor porn with amazing costly machines, high horse-power, advanced electronics and mechanics, all filmed with high-def cameras, drones and handheld shots for closeups. Also, I have checked out similar channels, but there is something about the star-quality "je ne sais quoi" of this UA-camr that can't be beat. Three thumbs up!
I like that tractor. I've been watching your channel for a few years now. Thanks for sharing what you do and keeping the nation going.
We at my home have the utmost admiration and respect for all Americas farmers. THANK YOU FOR ALL YOU DO AND FEEDING THE WORLD.
Love the shout out you gave Harmless Farmer. Andy is a huge inspiration to me and my family love his videos.
Andy is unbelievable.
Where did you get that stupid dum haircut !
@@petewilliams7425 in a previous episode he said it's his quarantine haircut he gave himself
Was thinking about Andy just before you mentioned it, made me smile. Good luck and hope the family is staying well
Wow, awesome equipment and great exposure for these companies and the equipment. Uncle Fuzznuts looks happy. Great video as usual.
Please keep giving the harmless farmer shout outs i just watched his story of his accident and that family is an absolute inspiration and stories like his are far too often ignored
As wet as things were since last fall, I'm glad to see things are going well this spring.
Zach i’m a new fan of your videos and I just watched the video where you had the oil filter get stuck in the engine. A way to make sure that doesn’t happen again is to dip your finger in the oil that comes out of the old filter, and lubricate the seal on the new filter.
Please like so he can see this
We do that but that filter was put on by the owners before us or the dealer, as we had never changed it since owning. That was crazy!
Isn't it amazing when the machinery is working 👍great? Getting out of the tractor to check last week's planting and finding a seed that's sprouted and is "reaching for the sky" was always a huge thrill for me too. There's nothing better than that! Hey Zach! Thanks for sharing your planting videos with all of us. Take care...and be safe.
Thank you Zach for these videos and feeding the country
Keep up the good work. I'm surprised you didn't have Becky and the kids out in the field so you could keep ahead. I'm sure she can get the roller pulled across the field.
You know it's a good day when the mnmillennial farmer uploads! I genuinely get excited 😂
Man Plant 2020 looks like its rolling right along smooth and strong! That's fantastic, thanks for taking us along for the ride! Stay safe out there as things get busy!
I planted with a JD 4020 / JD 7100 no-till 8x30 corn planter in 3rd gear in Virginia in the 80's / We had limestone rocks to watch out for / You land and JD tractor / planter make me home sick for the farm life / Keep the good work up!
I have a cattle farmer friend up here in Michigan but besides that I have no farming knowledge but your so entertaining this is probably my favorite youtube channel.
Ty Mandako equipment for more demo equipment we like to see how new machines hold up in the fields.
Wish to see the 8RX on the Mandeco VT. I'd like to hear Zachs thoughts on the old double track crawler design tractor vs. the front wheel steerable quad track under tillage conditions... in other words give that 8RX a real workout!
I have some plans for giving it a work out! 😉
Yeah get her dirty. She will look real good having a bath afterwards.
I was also wondering how would 8RX do in tillage. But I suspect it may be time consuming to swap equipment where the time is money now.
Think about it. Some day you great-grandkids will be watching these videos.
I wish I had a resource like this from my Granddad.
I don’t like leaving planters outside because our old 4-row Allis Chalmers has holes in the fiberglass boxes that aren’t big enough for seed to get through but big enough for water 😂. I guess everyone’s got their reasons. 🤷♂️
Mn Millennial Farmer I'm from rural Oklahoma and love your videos keep up the good work and STAY SAFE
Glad things are going fairly well for y'all during plant '20. I'm enjoying the videos of the new equipment. It's nice to see what is available out there!!!
Thank you for plugging Andy. He's great! You elevated yourself in my book, too!
We planting in some fields no till beans with a white planter in heavy corn stalk residue its looks the same like after harvest. In this situations you need row cleaners. But its not such heavy soil like yours up in the north. I'm always impressd how youre guys are struggeling with compaction and getting stuck. We never had until last year problems to planting fields with no fall tillage
You are a great guy to give Andy a shout out....he really needs it right now. Bless you Zach.
Becky is the perfect person for demonstrating farm equipment. She would not be partial for one company or another.
Great awesome video zach , we still haven’t started planting here yet , hasn’t been dry enough. Hope soon we can
Never mind the tractor, you gotta love that watch. I liked it so much I just bought one. UK Farmer
Really like the new equipment, you explaining what it is used for, and seeing how you use it. Your channel is more fun to watch than TV. I tried the finger snap with the clean dishes in the dishwasher but they are still there.
Wow I’m amazed how the technology has improved in planting the crops. Very Kool to see how the Mean Green Machines have improved also. I really enjoy watching your channel. Y’all got it goin on. 👍🏻🇺🇸😎
Thank you for working so hard to help feed all of us.

Dark Penny best finish in a long time
That was a crazy finish!
Darn it! I wanted to comment this!
I really enjoy the videos, I worked on a farm right out of high school...Loved it, Gratz on 500k subscribers.
8:40 , a great explanation of how the planter is running and how amazing of a job it’s doing
An excellent video. It is so exciting to those seeds germinate and begin to grow!
Hey Zach love your videos. In a couple of years I am gonna come over to America or go somewhere and drive for who ever needs another drive. Your videos have given my reviews of what to expect. Thanks. Keep it up. Go green
We're really struggling with corn planting in southern Ontario due to cold. I managed to get 105 in today and then stopped. Watching this makes me feel like im still working. Lol
Good thing about a 16 vs a 24 row is 8 fewer rows to change out for beans
Check to see if they put grease zerks on the wheels under the the seed hoppers so you don"t ruin the axles.
Zach since you can plant without controlling the planter maybe you can develop a way of running a tillage tool in front or behind the planter and you can control it from your seat in the planter tractor.
Enjoying your videos. Seeing what farm life is like.
So glad it's business as usual for you. Thanks for the update
Can't wait for the Millennial farmer map to come out on Farming simulator 19! Love the video
Better in the new one
Cheer for another interesting video
Hello from England 🏴. Stay safe everyone.
Glad to see the start of the year is going so well. Lets hope for a bumper crop.
I love the different events that you put in your video. I saw this video where drilling soybeans gets better yields. Is that what you have ever thought? Nice demo equipment! How’s the shed behind you house going?
We drilled soybeans some in the past but nobody does that here anymore, mainly because it's a lot slower and we can use our corn planters instead of owning another machine. Plus we have issues with a specific mold in drilled beans.
Thanks
I called that tillage tool a Mandingo and got laughed at. Once I googled that I realized my mistake.
🤣🤣
I have a device that not only deposits a beer in my hand, a sandwich at my recliner, and my cloths on the bed. It does whine and growl on occasion, but a good slap on the bottom usually straightens it right out!
It looks like you keep your equipment very clean. I like that. It usually means the equipment will run better and last longer. Do you have a regular cleaning operation for the tractors and implements?
My dad use to say farmers get old in a hurry because of all the hard physical work they do....I've watched your videos for over a year and I have to say.....I dont see it! Hahaha! I guess that is a testament to how far farming equipment has come in 2020.
Awesome video thanks for sharing and be safe amazing equipment 👍👍👍👍💯💯💯💯
I love planting bean no stopping for fertilizer fill the tanks and hammer down. We plant about 2000 acres of no till very seldom rare we plowing with row cleaners. Really not what they are designed for and it make it rough. We were hoping to call it a rap for planting at end of the week but I think Mother Nature has different plan’s
Thank You for posting.
The 8RX is a lust for the eye. You are so lucky to have the attention from manufacturers. You earned it man, always great videos.
I live in Illinois and my dad has planted 500 acres in 2 and a half days
Great video. We are going to start planting corn this week if we can.
That roller has the right colors. 👍🏻
It's sure been nice to have a such good conditions for planting this spring. It has sure been a while.
Thought it was “A Class Act” to give a “Shout Out” to Andy the “Harmless Farmer”. We could all learn a “LOT” from watching his channel and hitting the “Subscribe” Button because he certainly “DESERVES” more subscribers.
Jeffrey Simmons 😂
4:43 Zack don’t you think you could do your magic through out the whole farming!?
Your get ready for cropping CLICK and then planting done!
And 7:05!
Nice video!
Love your sense of humor, Andy is a great guy,
Any live streams with the fam coming up while planting?????????? And congrats on the half million subs to you and the family Zack. As a non farmer I have learned a great deal watching your videos and its turned to be my favorite channel on youtube and look forward to when I get a notification on my phone for a new video. Keep it up... Next goal 1 million subs.
Luv watching your videos they r so awesome watching the huge equipment
Really snappy with your planting this year!
@millennialfarmer you should do a video about the shop you guys have, I really like the layout for a possible shop we want to build.
Wondering at what point you can plant from home as the autosteer progresses.
Zach, you can get at thing you wear on your head like a flashlight but for your GoPro, loving your work from here in the UK but I lived in MN for 20 years :-)
Not having any farm experience I have heard you talk in your videos about avoiding compaction when working the fields, both during harvest and other times. Yet you run a roller over your fields. Can you explain to us why you do this and what the difference is that you talked about in your previous videos. I enjoy more of the how and why parts of farming compared to the tractor and implements. Thanks for sharing your world.
Enjoyed the video, as always ... your folks did good ... all the best!
Just hoping our beans that just popped up thru the ground don’t die this week from the cold temps.....fingers crossed. 🤞
I love 💕 your Christmas trees 🎄 you have planted! Zach your papa is one smart man 👨😎
Very nice quarantine cut 👍🏻
Probably an unpopular ideal, but I would find it really interesting to show the economy side of farming. So showing how much you make, or how much farmers like you make usually a year. Idk just something I think would be cool.
The ag economy has been in the tank for the past several years, and COVID just made it worse.
Im sure for mn millennial farmer his profit would be very high. Looking at his machinery he only runs it to 5000 hours and his 9560rt which is way overkill for the work he has. Not to mention he has one if the largest combine harvesters in the world. He has it very easy compared to most farmers. Which is probably because his family has been farming for so long
@@lordoftherims436 That RT is not overkill for those soils. Doesn't matter where you farm; margins are razor thin.
Impressive operation you guys have there Zach i like it 👌 im a farmer in australia small cropping and feedlot cattle , i will get over to the US one day for a look great stuff 👍
I have seen very little tillage and absolutely no planting here in upstate NY.
You should do a shop tour of all your tools and tool boxes and all.
Zack I'm smiling as I listen to you whining about only having one hand free since you are holding the camera in the other. Welcome to my world! On 13 June 1973 I tangled with an Allis Chalmers round baler probably made sometime in the 1950s. I didn't win - lost my left arm above the elbow as a result. I guess I'd say you have not yet trained your mind to be thinking ahead about only having one free hand as you do tasks with the camera. For example when you had the cup full of corn to dump in a bucket I would have not taken the cup off the tow unit until I checked to be sure the bucket was open. Give it time, I'm sure yo'll get there sooner or later.
Have you watched the HARMLESS FARMER channel? Check andy out, hes amazing.
It's a work in progress for me 🤣
I'm a cattle farmer and a lot of times it's difficult not having three or four hands. So my hat's off to you.
Hats off to you. I know a guy that had one arm cut off above elbow and other hand only had 3 fingers. He was a heck of a auto mechanic
@@teaches2010 I'll do that!
You are the best ,keep up the great videos, great explanation, of how you do farming. I don't know how you do the long hours, but you are young 👍👍👍👍👍
It never fails to amaze me when I see thumbs down on this channel. Aside from a GMO/chem trails conspiracist on here a year or so ago who's rants were politely but ultimately firmly put a stop to. I can't imagine what drives people to be so angry and spiteful. It's a sad thing to see.
It's because he says "Mmmmoist"
People that do thumbs down are just jealous or ignorant or both, yea that's probably it!!!!
J Fiery some competitive equipment manufacturers/dealers/reps would be my guess
@Jeffrey Simmons so quirky and not like the others
Having equipment outside is ok for short periods and through rain. Just leaving it outside year around, then we have issue's.
Very cool, my father, brother and I are running a monosem 6row twin row and we wish we had that db
This is my favorite show in all of Television
We have had that in our planter for the last 7 years and it’s very nice
1. What do you do with the leftover corn and beans you clean out of the planter?
2. How much do you typically have?
Usually not much left over. For beans we can usually plant the planter empty or spread them out somewhere. Maybe keep a few bags over. For corn we end up with maybe 20 extra units we keep in a hard box for a year.
I love all your content it's great. I'm learning so much about farming I also love your hair doo doo keep going you're doing great New Jersey out
Just laid down for the night from planting Louisiana soybeans had to watch my favorite Yankee farmer and see what he did today.
man i really need to go farming again and leave this city life, congrats sir i love your videos!
You should put a canopy on the planter like the trailers to open when parked
What a welcoming change from last years cold start and freeze
Wish Deere would give you that 8rx and the planter congrats on 500k
You’d be lucky to get a few hours of sleep during planting ! Lol. As my grandpa said there’s a time for sleeping and dang it this ain’t the time ( I cleaned it up a bit ) you can sleep all you want in the winter !
Just go ahead and purchase all that new equipment y’all have been demoing ,ag futures looking awesome, nice video thanks for sharing
Zach loves Deere so much he even treats his corn green. 😀lol, love the vids.
Good to see all that loan equipment getting a good work out . Another great vlog
Dumb question. Back on the farm we drilled beans and row planted corn. Why do you have to change the planter over between corn and beans? Seeds are about the same size??? But we didn’t have computers, we were lucky to have a radio 😂
Hey Zach I just received another survey from John Deere. Across the comment section just left them a note .The best salesman they have is Zach the Millennial Farmer.
🤣🤣 awesome thanks!
