    Hey, if you read this, the balloon trick does not necessarily require tape, just poke a hole through the balloon right next to the original inlet-hole, around a centimeter away.
    the balloon rubber is thicker there, and does not tear as easily, of course, if you poke it too many times, or too far from the thick section, it will still pop xD
    now, about that danger warning about the plastic can, and the san bruno disaster: in the disaster you mentioned, the gas mixed with oxygen, and exploded. but inside an aerosol can, there is no oxygen, which kinda defeats the purpose of your example/comparison. if you do light such a can on fire, the gas will likely just push the flame away, and even if the can runs low and the flame gets closer to the can, by then there won't really be any gas left to shoot out and explode in the first place. secondly, even if it comes out slowly to begin with, the plastic lid will melt and begin to seal it shut, or at least it will try, but the gas coming out will probably maintain a constant hole, even if the hole starts getting bigger, the flame will then get pushed away again as fuel comes out faster, and so it stops melting the plastic. but even if it kept melting, as the hole gets bigger, the gas rapidly comes out, and burns up, it would leave essentially no gas left in the bottle to explode. the gas has to have some time to mix with air in a stoichiometric ratio for it to genuinely explode, and that _takes time,_ which it doesn't get since its all constantly burning up, and not given any chance to thoroughly mix with oxygen first before igniting. trust me, aerosol cans basically never explode in this way, its just too improbable to get the perfect conditions, and honestly, *they often aren't even possible to begin with.* even if you stab the can with a knife, and hold a flame up to it, they usually just shoot fire for a few seconds before calming down, they still don't explode. on the other hand, they _frequently_ explode when left SEALED in a _heat source,_ such as outside on a hot day in the car, or in the sunshine, I had a lighter explode for that very reason.
    my point isn't that its impossible, just that its really not likely to happen, and it usually just melts and burns up, shooting some fire, but not exploding. so stay safe, but keep in mind that an exploding aerosol can and a big fireball are a fantasy expectation, and will never realistically happen.
    cocoa powder: extremely fine and dry powder is hydrophobic, since air is hydrophobic, and the powder is full of air, and since its difficult for water to flow through such small spaces because the surface tension and viscosity get in the way, this means that it takes forever to fully soak into the powder, and therefore it stays dry.

      @@LouisNothing but that's not true about what I said, yes he was giving the worst case scenario, but I was definitely not giving the "best possible outcome" or best case scenario at all. and its easy to tell, namely because I said so many *"but even if x"s* in my comment. (there were three in total) also 1% is way to high, you read what I said right?

    • @LouisNothing
      @LouisNothing Рік тому

      @@Metal_Master_YT Yes, i read it. I wouldn't comment otherwise. So first off even though you put "ifs" and "buts" you are still, in the end, describing the best possible scenario are you not? What could be better than what you described? Secondly, what would you put the percentage of possiblity at? Cause anything above zero is still not something i would recommend that the average person do under uncontrolled conditions, i.e. their backyard with a bottle of mom's hair spray and dad's lighter. Finally, there are a couple errors in your statement but i want to be brief so I'll give you one for now, (specifically the one that pertains to what we are talking about) oxygen does not have to be inside the container of flammable liquids for that substance to suddenly combust when it does comes into contact with the oxygen all around it, in fact, that is exactly what the OP of the video said. You watched the video right? Edit: btw, I do agree with 90~95% of what you said. Or is that too high? (Lol, Just joking on that last bit)

    • @Metal_Master_YT
      @Metal_Master_YT Рік тому +4

      @@LouisNothing I too mostly agree with what you said, I really just want to make some distinctions and clarify what I mean.
      I guess I'll just clarify on the things you mentioned. firstly, by saying "but even if x" I am essentially saying, "but even if things go wrong or get worse". and since I repeated this multiple times, I am making the hypothetical scenario worse and worse, (I'm making it a worst case scenario, _not best!_ ) and letting you know that _even when its this bad,_ its _still_ probably not going to explode. point is, its certainly not the best or second best or even third best scenario anymore. so, what could be better than what I described? well namely _a scenario where all the even-if's I mentioned, didn't happen._
      next, what is the percent chance? ok, I will admit, there's no way of knowing for sure, and it totally depends on the person and the can, but I know that its relatively low, however you look at it. next: *"Cause anything above zero is still not something i would recommend that the average person do under uncontrolled conditions"* well the problem here is that you imply that its a child, in which case the problem isn't the can, its the fact that its a child, doing an experiment with fire. you also say its under un-controlled conditions, in which case the problem once again isn't the can, its the dangerous conditions. you're also considering whether or not to recommend it, and once again, the problem isn't the can, the problem is the fact that a spray can flamethrower is not normally something you should recommend to people, namely because its a great way to start a fire or burn yourself, and its not exactly very useful. also, the statement: *"Cause anything above zero is still not something i would recommend that the average person do..."* is simply not logical. you are telling me that the mere presence of a risk, at _any percent above zero_ makes it something average people shouldn't do? listen, putting spray can flamethrowers aside, ANYTHING that you can do on this earth has risks associated with it, the idea that you must somehow avoid all risks when you do something, is not only unrealistic and ridiculous, but its also impossible. so yeah, that's not a very good reason.
      finally: *"oxygen does not have to be inside the container of flammable liquids for that substance to suddenly combust when it does comes into contact with the oxygen all around it, in fact, that is exactly what the OP of the video said"* well, there's a difference between "combusting" and "exploding". obviously we both agree it can combust, hence the orange flames that the can visibly spits out, I just don't think the can would cause an _explosion_ under those circumstances. here's a part of the video I clipped: ua-cam.com/users/clipUgkxFnfxhpw1aOtccwiDFwr8ejoBUMIRLIIH
      as you can see, he _also_ says that it requires that the gas be escaping, but *not lit.* otherwise it can't build up in the air. the same was true for the san bruno explosion he quoted as well. listen, I have studied explosives lightly in the past, and for gases, they must mix into the air or pure oxygen in large volumes for an actually significant detonation to occur, otherwise (for the spray can anyway) its just an overrated jet of fire. the thing is, _since its given that the spray can is already lit in our scenario,_ it therefore can't build up gas in the oxygen-containing air, because its constantly burning up.
      I'm slightly disappointed that I had to repeat this part, since this very concern was addressed quite clearly in the first comment, but no worries, if anything doesn't make sense, just ask! :D

    So the paper thing got me curious because intuitively there’s no way a piece of paper can be configured to reach the moon, right? If you’re using a standard 8.5x11 inch sheet of paper and fold it 42 times, it’s surface area would be 0.0005 nanometers, which is 1/1000 the width of an atom. Paper is made mostly of cellulose which I estimate to be about 1 nanometer wide. Assuming you can’t fold the cellulose molecules, you would need a piece of paper 41ft x 32 ft (rounded up) to be able to fold it thick enough to reach the moon, and it would be a little over 1 cellulose molecule in surface area.

    • @IDyn4m1CI
      @IDyn4m1CI Рік тому

      Of course it's not possible, you would need an absolutely massive sheet of paper to be able to fold it 42 times. It's easier to imagine that if you could stack 2^42 sheets of paper on top of each other, the stack would reach the moon.

    • @TheCandyManTeam
      @TheCandyManTeam Рік тому

      @@IDyn4m1CI I did the math at some point and I think I came up with a piece of paper that was 30 miles on each side.

    Watching this I noticed that the is water wet question was posted and he said it was moist not we. I would also like to point out the fact that the water made the water measure thing wet making the thing say it was wet. Water can’t be wet as wet would be if a liquid is on top of a solid object, not if water was on top of any other form. My proof? If you were to put water on top of high blowing air and it were to keep in place above the air, we wouldn’t call the air wet. Same with oil and water since oil can be considered a liquid, pouring oil on water would not be counted as making the water wet, therefore water can’t be wet. Wet is only the term we describe when a liquid is on/in a solid object only.
