None of those seen were SFX, the car literally broke down on the Brooklyn Bridge because they'd left it in Sony's backlot to rot. If those issues had held up, Ecto-1 should've had even worse issues running by the time Afterlife rolled around.

I was so lucky to go see this movie when it came out, oh this reminds me of how I never got to see the 80’s but it has the feeling modern movies don’t have, the heart of it.. I wish more movies were like this, as one of my favorites
It was 100% Egon bonding with Trevor. With Callie it was super easy because she’s just like him, but Trevor’s really different. So seeing him take interest in mechanics and engineering like that with the Ecto-1 was Egon’s chance to say “If you can help me fix her up, she’s all yours”

@@tord6725 Trevor was also like Venkman in that he’s the one trying to be a ladies man, although unlike Peter it seems Trevor seriously sucks as it as he goes for somebody too old for him, not interested and isn’t confident enough to even really make a move. Whilst Peter did everything to prove himself to Dana and waits until he’s a big deal and proven he’s serious about his job, Trevor just builds his entire attempt at flirtation on a lie (a really bad one at that) and is constantly awkward and keeps falling for Lucky’s pranks
While I know it was Egon helping but part of me believes it was the Ecto herself, not because of some supernatural ability it had, but just an old beloved car deciding to help someone that showed it some TLC.

What's funny is that the starter noise on this is 1:1 accurate on the 58-59 model Cadillac's. (obviously they had to record a starter sound since the engine used in the movie is a lot different then the original engines). However it is a super nice touch that they didn't just go with a standard sound library starter sound and stayed authentic.
Thanx to Ghostbusters Afterlife, I think of this song when a rare supercar that has not been driven in ages is take out for its first spin in ages!!!! The thrill is back!
Or how about the Batmobile from the 1966 batman series, say what you want about the TV show, but I think that car is AWESOME. Same can be said for the 1993 Jurassic Park jeep. Edit: you can also though Herbie & The Gen 11 in there as well for that matter.
0:34 It killed me how they photoshopped a generic inline 6 for the engine bay shots….to a cat guy it’s so obviously faked it’s not even funny. But they also pulled the original Cadillac V8 out and put a modern LS engine in all the movie cars so I guess that’s why they couldn’t take any real shots under the hood.

The car in the movie was retrofitted with a Chevrolet "LS" small block V8. That is why in the scenes the car goes like stink, despite weighting a lot.
This ecto 1 uses a corvette LS3 engine because there is no way the original car would plow through a wheat field that easily
The original Cadillac V8 engine was quite bulletproof
