It's sad how dated this video is, and how the pipe band scene has collapsed in Northern Ireland. Sam's face was a picture when listening to the old guy playing
Not with a wooden chanter that’s for sure! I broke a lovely half ivory bowl Henderson chanter in the mid 1970s doing that. The Pipe Major used to tie flies for fishing and he put the chanter together, and with glue and silk thread, repaired it. Good job it wasn’t for playing in the band. He said “it’ll probably squeal” but it didn’t. He did a great job on it.
I am in a pipe band myself, the Great Falls Pipe Band been with the band since June of this year.
