I wish the sks I bought in the 90's was this clean.. Mine came in a box inside the box was a bag with cosmoline in it. In the center of the cosmoline was the rifle. I have long since sold my SKS though I wish I kept it they are worth 3-4 times as much now a days. I absolutely hated trying to leach the cosmoline out of the wood stock.

Don't use grease- I tried that and it just gets filled with residue. Light oil!
Especially on the bolt and firing pin assembly. Veteran SKS owners can probably guess what happened :) Lucas Red 'N" Tacky is amazing stuff, including some firearms. Not SKS's.
As someone who bought two (and maybe some of the last) Norinco cosmolined imports, GREAT GUNS! I've kept one stock and the other (which was in pretty bad shape) I'm actively bub'ing.

I actually really do like this stock! I thought that I would not when i saw the photos, but its actually very nice! Perfect length of pull for my long arms, and the fit and finish is great. I also like the factory buttpad

Sure can. I'll send it with the Yugo I have that I cut down. Both in the same stock.

I always wanted an SKS. How do you feel they compare to an AK? To me the ergos are better on the SKS. What are your thoughts?

@Sigkim wow that was a great reply. Thanks for the info. I do appreciate it 👍🇺🇸

@Sigkim Awesome info here !!!! ^ I agree with everything said. The sks is so much fun. There are better optics mounting options for the AK, but it depends on how you want to use it. Definitely stay away from the NCstar clips. The surplus ones work fantastic, and carrying clips vs mags can have huge advantages

Yugos are great because they were truly designed for war and for its build quality and how thick the stock is around the pistol grip and being that it has a beefy stock its almost impossible to break compared to the Chinese. The Chinese is also good because of there chrome line barrel and makes it a lot better when shooting surplus. I recently picked up a Chinese sks as well as already owning a yugo and I run new factory tula through the yugo and it never has a problem I will most likely use the Chinese for surplus ammo. I wish they would have made a sks with a thick stock like the yugo and chrome line barrel all in one. But if you have a smaller hands you might be happier with a Chinese sks as I said the yugos have a pretty thick and beefy stock.

If the spring and and metal rod shoots out under the back sight to put it back in do I just slide the rod down into the spring and close it back down in and lock it

is the gas piston necessary in my Yugoslavian SKS. I noticed during cleaning that It did not have one in the tube

Where are the gas valves located or are there even gas valves on a Yugoslavia made sks

New to the sks. My piston in the gas tube doesn't move freely. Then when I shoot it, it pushes the piston under the sight out and hangs in the chamber and I have to peck it with a hammer to get it back in. Any thoughts? Kinda thinking that my gas tube isn't any good or a bad piston
