Deer at Airfield

E-M1MarkIII - Leica DG Vario-Elmar 100-400mm F4.0-6.3 Asph. Power OIS
Sequel to Deer between Trees, I found this one at the airfield of Brasschaat, just where the meadow around the runway changed into the forest.
It was late in the afternoon, and he'd crept out of the woods for a quick snack.
The first shots were at 45-50m, but eventually taking very small steps and being virtually motionless, I got down to just under 35m.
All pictures shot handhold, no tripod, also the video, and at 800mm FOV (35mm Full Frame)
I must say one thing : camouflage !
About a week or two, maybe longer,
I discovered a small group of deer,
I managed to hide my bike (which is very noticeable due to its yellow color).
The group was at about 120m in the beginning, near a forrest,
I stepped towards them, painfully slow and careful, with intervals of motionlessness.
Finally I got to less than 10m, never lowering my camera, electronic shutter, soundless shooting.
The group did notice my scent, (and possibly my heart beating at 150 a minute or more !)
a female at one point walked right up to me, to less than 5m, then she stopped,
but it seemed they saw right through me through the camouflage clothing.
For my Bushcraft outings, I have Belgian army camo clothing, but for wildlife I use more and more S. Hunting clothing these days - this seems to be more socially acceptable to other people, I don't see the difference, but anyway, I found it at D.
Needless to say, this is just where I found this, so this is not an advertisement, and I will not be compensated in any way for this. It just works !
