Top video mate, about to tackle mine this weekend on HZJ78R Troopy after LHR wheel bearings let go last weekend. Will have your video up on my phone saturday morning as guidance! Cheers, Mitch
Thanks mate - just did mine. Great video. Had a question about the axle oil seal with the spring retainer. I had someone do my bearings whilst doing my suspension and afterwards I had diff oil leaking out. Opened it up and both axle seals were damaged. Are you aware of what way they are meant to be installed. I had the spring retainer side into the diff as it seemed like a leading edge.
Cheap seals don't last long go toyota oem or terrain tamer. changing cheap seals isn't to bad on the rear but that cheap seal on front inner axle is a massive job
Hey mate nah you shouldn’t have to engage diff locks to remove I don’t actually have any diff locks in mine but if yours does it should come out unlocked if you’ve got trouble removing it it may be due to a twisted axle or some other issue
Hey mate, the parabolics are great, I went with westralia springs and got the heavy duty rated ones with weight in the back I find they ride really well and quite flexible.
Any seal or gasket you remove you should replace as they can get damaged on removal even if it looks like they are fine it’s cheap insurance to just replace them. That’s my personal recommendation and opinion anyway
Thanks for that video mate. It’s hard to find a good video in german ;) I discovered that my bearings are a bit loose. Do you think it’s possible to just tighten it up? I have the same problem at the front axle. I have a HZJ78 I’m gonna tackle the issue next week.
Hey mate thanks for pointing that out I definitely installed a new one I do talk about them when I take them but must have skipped over that bit when editing the video sorry
impact screwdriver about $25 from sca my problem was after snapping the studs twice in a month or 2 was that only was 1 lock screw not 2 fingers crossed local toyota has some in stock or looks like waiting a week to get them posted from all4x4.
What you are calling cones are actually the cups.what you calling collars are collets.40 years in trade.not trying to be smart, just for your information
Thanks, I’m also qualified and in the trade I’ve heard lots of things called different names depending on where I’ve work so maybe it’s one of those things.

Gady mate,
Just wondering if you had to engage your rear diff lock before removing the axle?

Very informative and well presented
Thanks
How have you found the parabolic springs mate? What make are they and load rating?
Thanks for the vid
Cheers
Mick

100%
Be nice if they came with sealed bearings like 200 series..looks like half a day on all 4 wheels if you know what you’re doing
@@17th_Street_Preacher yeh it’s a decent job
Thank you very little difference from my 80 series
Your welcome
Do you have to replace all hub seals if you just have to repack the bearings

@@dunne_family_adventures ok thanks mate very helpful video

G’day mate, yeh if they don’t need to be re-greased you can just tighten up the locking nuts
What about the axle seals? Did you forget to install the new ones? You didn't mention that during reassembly?
Hey mate thanks for pointing that out I definitely installed a new one I do talk about them when I take them but must have skipped over that bit when editing the video sorry
How many KM's did you get out of them. My 76 has done 130k and the rear bearing has very little to no wear
This video was taken at about 140k and that was the first time I had done them personally, not sure of the history before I got the car
Great video. Well done.
Thanks mate
THANK YOU😉👍️🎶
Your welcome
wondering know how did you measure and adjust the bearing preload ?
Hey mate I went off feel, as that how I was taught but you can you a preload spring if you want.
Well I already stripped one of those Philips screws 😂 I tried so hard with my best screwdriver and a hammer but can't always win 😂
Oh nightmare 😂 well it if it isn’t took far gone you might be able to still get it with an impact screwdriver if you able to get your hands on one

Yes there is a bearing each side of the hub

Hey Warren sorry not sure what you mean?
