With the helo you can record locally on the storage at a higher data rate than your stream alleviating the need to bring a separate recorder if you wish to use the event footage at a later time you have the high resolution " master" or I should say usually higher resolution.

Thanks for the review. I am going to be recommending this to a couple churches I know that want to start live streaming.
Question: Is there an option to have the HDMI monitor output have an overlay of status information. So you can see the image on the monitor, but you can also read stream data (where it is streaming, bitrate, if its streaming if its recording etc).
This is definitely not a deal breaker for me, but would be very useful, and with scheduling would mean a church could have the stream box out of the way so the light is not blinking in the switchers face all service, but still be able to confirm it is streaming right from the live edit booth. Perhaps something they could add with a firmware update if its not already possible.
    Again, thanks for the review.

Beeing used to the Teradak Vidiu, I don't think I'm gonna like this AJA Helo unit.
    1. No ability to connect it to Wi-Fi to obtain internet access or local access to configure it
    2. No built-in AP or Blutooth to use an iOS app to configure it from anywhere even when you don't have Wi-Fi or Wired connectivity
    3. No ability to hookup an USB LTE Modem (Turbo key)
    4. No screen that show current streaming plateform, streaming bandwidth, status like "starting", "Live", "Stopped" (Stopped is frequent when there's a copyright trigger from Facebook)
But I like the fact that is has a SDI input.
    Question:
Can you live switch from HDMI to SDI while streaming like the BMD Web presenter does ?
    Thanks for reading

Many thanks for watching, ill try and answer most of your points:
2 if you dont have wired or wireless connectivity then there wont be much to configure, If you still need to then you can briefly tether to a computer.
3 true, but the operators that sell those tend to have a mifi type device to do the same but with a cat 5. Alternatively using an airport express or similar will help.
4 Initially that was a concern for me, but i realised that when initiating a stream, then id tend to have the cdn open along side to check the signal recieved anyway.
where you win out is the far higher bitrates available on the HELO. But i think its horses for courses on this one. If you need to move around alot then the Teredek is probably teh right choice.
      Thanks for watching.

      +1 for the bitrate

Can the Vidiu record at a higher bitrate than it streams at? Or are those 2 locked together?

I don't know this one, I don't have a vidiu that can record (the pro model)

How is the boot-time? How long it takes from starting until it is record/stream ready?

Can it stream simultaneously both SDI and HDMI as two separate channel to two separate feed ?

Does is support both SDI level A and SDI level B as an input ans what level is the SDI out ?

Can the SDI out be used as a preview of the HDMI in, and vice-versa ? I mean... if your camera is SDI, can you use the HDMI out to preview it on an HDMI monitor ?

Yes, but there is a limitation. I cant remember what it is. let me check and get back to you.

Are SDI out and HDMI out loop trough or are they meant to be monitors that shows the processed signal ?

SDi i loop through, and HDMI is processed.
