@@GreenRC24 I mostly buy Athearn Genesis or ScaleTrains Rivet counter. Both companies have the best details in my opinion. But the last time ScaleTrains made some NS SD-40 is like 5 years ago? UP the same. And Athearn don’t want to upgrade to Genesis. Used SD40s are impossible to find here in Europe. Seems like both companies don’t want to swim in money. As someone else already said: they would fl off the shelf

No doubt this will be done in future runs, we'll do mainly as delivered in the first runs but additional tooling in the future will help bring in later versions.
Additional tooling will need to be done for the Conrail units but rest assured, they are being planned for a future release as well as many other roads.
What kind of lighting packages? I hopw they have lighted number boards, walkway lights, inspection lights, lit control stands ect, like the other top scale mfg's!!!
@@AthearnModelTrainsWill the new Genesis models with lit number boards and class lights also feature front/rear walkway and ground lights on the front trucks? SD50, GP40-2, and GP38-2 specifically? This info isn’t on the product pages on your website. I’m sure sure if these lights will be the new Genesis standard for future releases. Thanks!
Awesome to have a descent SD50. It took long enough, Hopefully you do Rio Grand & SP Speed lettered with ditch lights as I model mid 90s to 2007ish . How about a prime for grime black with faint speed letter SP as in when they were used in helper service California
CNW bought these orginally for powder river coal service... but they took a crap in the coal fields, bombed out bigtime... that's when the CNW went and bought some GE C40-8s... the C40s performed MUCH better
Plus, think of the potential of this model! Rebuilds, second hand owners, ditch light era versions, fantasy schemes, the possibilities are virtually endless with this model! Also, keep in mind, the last time an Athearn SD50 was offered in HO scale, they were RTR models, so the fact a Genesis version is now in the works is big!
@@randallellison6421 im super happy with the model. I didn’t want to complain. I just said that I am a bit sad, that there is no NS. But I can appreciate the model and hope that many many railroaders buy them.
Wish the SP units were in the first run. Imagine the second run could take this into 2026. Guess the old RTR run will have to hang in there a little bit longer...
Finally something new in Genesis. I wish you guys would also bring SD40-2 in Genesis.
That would be a hit.
GREAT COMMENT!!!!!... genesis SD40-2s would FLY off the shelf
Sd40-3 as well
God it’s endless but yes.

The story of the SD50 is a fascinating one. I'd really like to have a Chessie or Rio Grande example on my layout. Nice work, guys!
Glad you enjoyed it!
I wish you guys would also bring sd40-2 in genesis for connecticut southern with lit number boards

Hope this opens the door for modernized variants (SD50Ms, SD50-2s and SD40Es) in the future.

So glad you are offering the Chessie System SD50 in an upgraded Genesis model. How about doing the same for the SD35 units in CNJ colors?
Anything is a possibility, we have a lot of projects currently we are working through.
What about Seaboard System in gray and ConRail in blue with the extra long CR logo right before the ConRail Quality scheme ??
Additional tooling will need to be done for the Conrail units but rest assured, they are being planned for a future release as well as many other roads.
Thanks for the MoPac SD50s
You are welcome!
I like the CSX ones. They look very good.
Thank you!

These will have lit numberboards, classification lights (Based on the prototype) and any other strobes or lighting features, based on the prototype,

Any chance yall will do a norfolk southern sd40e rebuild?
There are possibilities.

Yessssss
It's just a matter of time.
I want to request an AC-9 in HO

The modelers perspective usually differs from the prototype when it comes to locomotives.
A bit sad no „real“ UP or NS Version. Hopefully the next run will have some.
But all in all awesome looking models.
They could only do so much in a single run. CR and SBD guys will probably get their moment too
@@CentralJerseyRailfan I don’t complain. I know they will make more runs. I’m just a UP/NS modeller so I wished for these
@@TobiasL1000 I’m a modern era CSX guy and honestly the 80s and 90s crowd deserve their moment. I would do my own ditch light install if I wanted to

Are athearn genesis sd50 genesis 2.0
We stopped using that terminology when we rebranded a few years back but yes, same features as a Genesis 2.0.

There were many roads to choose from for this first run and we knew we would disappoint a few but remember there are still more runs to do.
