Raziel has been my favourite game character for decades now, and this bust is marvelous, straight up marvelous. I love the idea of his duality with normal and utlra-violet lighting.

@@SuperGamefreak18 Although, to be fair, despite his looks Raziel turned out to be one heck of a protagonist in no less than three outstanding games. With that in mind, mangled or not, allowing for a remake might be worth while. Naturally, getting some of the old crew mixed with some serious fans of the games to work on it might produce the best end results. Equally obvious is to stay away from greedy and abusive companies like EA, Bethesda and the likes. Personally, I'd love to see these games remade and resurfaced.

This is amazing. Yes there is still some Legacy of Kain fans out there. If any series deserves a remake it's LoK. The closest thing we got to a new game was Nosgoth and that got shut down before it could even find a player base.
I don't think multiplayer is the way to go for LoK, anyway. It was primarily a story-driven game.

If you want to understand the character, you really should watch the cutscenes strung together like a movie.
I've loved this series for more than twenty years. If anything is deserving of atleast an HD remake it's this series. Your work is awesome. Nice to know I'm not the only fan with fond memories of Nosgoth.

I actually cried at the sight of the finished product 😢 Raziel is by far one of my favorite characters in the history of my gaming journey. The clans tell tales of kain deified but few know the real truth.😋 That monologue and that soundtrack at the start of soul reaver still gives me chills watching it today i still play it atleast once every 2 years the whole series just for nostalgia.

Isn't LoK owned by Square Enix these days though? Crystal Dynamics developed LoK, yes, but it was Eidos Interactive (now absorbed by Square Enix) who were the publishers, so I believe they own the rights for LoK.

I was wondering how vids end up in the recommended section... my previous 2 videos did extremely well, and I checked the analytics and it showed that the majority of views came from "recommended"/"suggested" videos, whereas this one is only at 10% for that... which is likely why the viewcount is so low in comparison to Freddy and Pennywise. UA-cam must have an algorithm I'm unaware of - but I am glad it appeared in you rec section. Gotta figure out how to get it categorized that way.

Update: The one and only original sculpture of this character, shown in the video, sold after 2 years of sitting in the garage. Oddly enough, I've received several requests for him since, and I am puzzled as to why they all came at the same time, but I had nothing for 2 years.... If enough people are keen to own one, I am capable of making a new, improved version of this character in platinum silicone, but it would be vastly more expensive and a difficult project - hard to justify doing again unless I had several people on board to buy one. If anyone is that serious about it, please email me and I can compile a list, and you can essentially crowd fund a recreation of this character in platsil gel 10, and the UV effect intact (with better hair this time too). There's also a Kain crowd funding pool on my website if anyone wants to get in on that (I bought his eyes, but you fellas need to chip in for the rest). @@Iamthenoi I got stuck lol I think it's right after you get the axe if I remember correctly? I'm surrounded and no more hearts of darkness and low health. These hard to fight enemies got me trapped lol
@@lucid3944 definitely worth giving it another go. Fairly early on in SR1 it's really easy to have no idea where to go - enemies and any dialogue is a good clue. Abuse the weapons you can pick up in the early game as the combat (esp in 2020) is going to be dated AF. SR2 is much better, and Defiance better again. if you opt to watch rather than play i recommend TheElectronicBasement (TEB) playthrus as they get all the context and gloomy atmosphere from the environments leading up to the cutscenes. SR2 is where the story really starts fitting together

i hope one day i will be able to do that bc it takes more then power of will in terms of materialistic side but i am sure the wish is not enought i will work hard as i always do in order to not only provide help to my family but finally support ma wild imagination that is forcing it's way through, this is so incouraging for young begginer like me thanks

I'm a huge fan of LOK, but especially Soul Rever! The fact that you covered the material and spectral plane was very cool. For bringing my favorite video game character to life, you earned a subscriber!
This is incredible!! The LoK games mean so much to me and it is just AMAZING to see other fans creating such beautiful, inspired tributes to the series. I'm astounded by your talent, patience and dedication. YOU ARE WORTHY.

It's better if they didn't. I highly doubt they would have captured the original brilliance, sophisticated, theatrical dialogue, amazing voice acting and captivating story, all at once. I saw footage (probably most fans did) of unreleased Dead Sun - it would be an abomination and an affront to the legacy of those titles (flashing tits, f... bombs every few lines - so modern gaming).
Not to mention Voice actor for Elder god died (ah that Tony Jay voice). Also writing for this series is just like out of XV- XVI centry (in a good way). The way characters speak and act is like from old fable rather that something that is made today. May be if we would rewind time and got 3 milion copies of this game... may be we would get that last one and finish that story.
The best way for it to work it should be rebooted completly. With good writing team and of corse CONSISTANT GAME PLAY. Preaty much just make it something akin to Devil may cry with some Zelda system, to reflect series as a whole.
But looking at how Square Enix made Final Fantasy 7 reboot with all this padding.... I hope they just give rights to someone who cares about the series and just SE will let them do what they want instead of going with EA "we need to include more demographic to this game" devs "what casual, pro, homosexcuals, feminist..." EA "All of them"
@Murtons Well, in overall, you're right. I was referring to bad modern gaming. This Dead Sun I mentioned, while had quite interesting concept, it was poor when compared to original.
I also do agree that this series needs a remake, a fully fledged one, with preferably all original cast onboard (without Tony Jay unfortunately). I highly doubt anyone else than Michael Bell or Simon Templeman would have captured the essence of their respective characters. But I have some doubts if it would be profitable enough to gain enough money to get the final we were always waiting for. Properly made it would definitely bring fans onboard. But with appropriate marketing, who knows... Sadly, I guess, we'll never know.

God, while doing my yearly run through with the series I came across this. As someone who grew up in the PS1 era I am so thrilled to see this! Legacy of Kain will always be my favorite game series, going back to the Blood Omen days all the way to the end with Defiance. You definitely did an awesome job

A sculpture befitting the Reaver of Souls. As I was watching this, I was also watching the cutscenes movies for Legacy of Kain: Defiance.
This is my go-to video whenever I think about a Soul Reaver-remake~
Raziel forever ! He looks great man . I felt like the game was never completed cause in blood omen Kain fights an older version of himself without the reaver blade and in soul reaver raziel is seen in a future scene with a red spirit blade known as the Kain blade so Kain and raziel eventually become one . Well I just thought that fans would like to know this truth also I heard yanos would have made a return as well but so many things happened that the story was just left unfinished.
They can finish it if they want to - but I think it's so far in the past that the whole series should be rebooted - but they should rehire Simon Templeman, Michael Bell, and Rene Aberjonois. Unfortunately the other key characters have left us.... but those 2 are still healthy and active. I tweeted the pics and video link to crystal dynamics the other day, so feel free to retweet it at them. Probably the only way to get their attention. I was really hoping the video would perform better, as that would be a good advertisement for them to encourage remaking the series... seems too few are familiar with the game now, but I am pleased to see those of you (like yourself) are really enthusiastic. Made it worth it. That and this statue looks absolutely incredible in person.

LoreCraft well just to let you know square enix currently owns the rights to the legacy of kain series they bought edios 2009 and that same year they started development on a new legacy of kain game witch would be called legacy of kain dead sun with a single player mode and an online multiplayer mode you could actually find a 32 min demo on youtube of it it was going to be on ps3 ps4 windows and the xbox360 but it was cancelled in 2012 but the multiplayer mode survived and be came its own game called nosgoth it was a free to play game 4v4 it had an open beta from 2015 to 2016 witch i played it was an ok game so thats where we stand right now but there are still some fan games in development that look really good i highly recommend you look up soul reverent a fan made soul reaver remake currently in the works and it looks amazing and as far as i could see it's the closes thing we got at the moment for a new legacy of kain game and some of their 3d models should help you with your kain sculpture
In blood omen Kain gets to mobieous new time line near the end of the game then he fights warriors from different time periods and then mobieous says something like and times yet to come and there is a vampire that looks exactly like Kain that you fight against so I figured this was a future Kain from a different time line . I thought maybe since raziel had the Kain reaver at the last vision in the time chamber then somehow kain and raziel had become one ... And that's the story that remained untold .how did I come to this conclusion I just finished replaying the legacy of Kain series and blood omen was last so my memory is fresh on this one . But you are free to believe whatever you want. I wasn't trying to troll you man I was basing it on what I noticed and what many had forgotten .but don't take my word for it go re-explore nosgoth and find out for your self maybe you find something I haven't found . Have fun man☺
Please! For god sakes, you must do Kain as well! I found this by pure accident last week and have no idea how I got by without it now. Kain would truly be amazing to see, highly hope you do it. Not gonna lie, one of the Ninja turtles would be truly wonderful as well. Not a scary face, no, but certainly unique in terms of sculptury

This is just stunning. You absolutely nailed Raziel. Been a longtime fan, with Soul Reaver being my favorite of the series in both story and character.

Another spot on sculpt! I am amazed that you were able to paint lit with just UV. Whenever I draw, I usually have two fluorescent lights and a magnifying glass. By the way, how long does it take for your sculpts to dry before you can paint them?
The drying stage is what takes the most time, unfortunately. Days, sometimes 5 days or even longer, depending on size and thickness. It really slows everything down. But the painting i dry rapid with the blow dryer :D

Great work! I loved watching it shape up into Raziel. In general the LoK franchise has one of the best written dialogue in any franchise I've ever played. Simon Templeman, Tony Jay, Michael Bell gave performances that should honestly be the envy of any franchise out there, video game or otherwise.

Do mortal kombat characters
The only one I can think of realistically doing, off the top of my head, is Goro - but he needs a full body sculpt to make any sense of it (with the 4 arms), and that would be a gigantic undertaking. Maybe someday! If there's another MK character that you can think of that's creature-like, let me know. I'm not really keen on doing characters that I could simply buy a halloween mask for. Maybe Reptile in his reptilian form, but can't think of any others.

Absolutely amazing stuff man, Soul Reaver 2 was the first ever PS2 game I got back in the day and absolutely loved it. The glow in the dark paints was a perfect idea for this sculpt and even going to the extra effort of sculpting what would probably never be seen behind his robe, 10/10 stuff.
Yo should put more wear into the hair cause he is a corpse you know... that's the only thing I don't like put a wig that is more torn apart , more zombi like
yeah, the hair thing is an issue I am having, but mainly because of costs. I would use real human hair on everything if I could afford it. Unfortunately these synthetic wigs are very unruly and won't obey even hair products and waxes... the good news is, the wig is removable, so if someone wants to own it someday, they can do their own hairpiece if they like. Barring that, when the channel gets better developed and I get a good return from views and Patreon to reinvest (or if I get commissioned) I can order in better hair pieces. I'm not sure many people know I do most of this out of my one bedroom apartment. I want nothing more than to get my own workshop and address everyone's criticisms (that I often share myself).
@@LoreCraft At least he still *has* hair, which is impressive at his age. I'm not even 50 yet and my hair is thinning out on top. If the timeline is correct (which may be questionable with all the wibbly-wobbly timey-wimey stuff that goes on in Soul Reaver), he was around a thousand years old before Kain even has him thrown into the Abyss, where he spent a few more centuries.
And even though Raziel complains a lot about his current status as a soul-devouring wraith, he's overlooking at least one major benefit: He can eat all he wants, and never gain any weight. Do you know how much people would pay to be able to do that? Souls: Less filling, tastes great. ;-D
