I chose The Church of Later Day Saints ( the Mormons) and The Nation of Islam (the Black Muslims). Yakub is a strategy used by the NOI to explain the presence of other races , particularly white. Myth is a powerful tool. It is used sometimes to enshrine the birth of a culture (like Romulus and Remus of Roman myth). Other times it is used to motivate change in culture ( like the Aryan Racial Superiority of the Third Reich). Or it can be used to produce a culture that did not really exist to blind those that emerged from a culture that did not evolve (the culture not the people) in the fields of science , engineering and technology at the same rate as most other cultures. I chose The Church of Later Day Saints ( the Mormons) and The Nation of Islam (the Black Muslims). Yakub is a strategy used by the NOI to explain the presence of other races , particularly white. Myth is a powerful tool. It is used sometimes to enshrine the birth of a culture (like Romulus and Remus of Roman myth). Other times it is used to motivate change in culture ( like the Aryan Racial Superiority of the Third Reich). Or it can be used to produce a culture that did not really exist to blind those that emerged from a culture that did not evolve (the culture not the people) in the fields of science , engineering and technology at the same rate as most other cultures. Yakub is merely a blinder.
Theres some truth to every myth just depends on how much is accurate. Now according to this so called myth, much of the information adds up which why I started looking into the orgins of this story.
