Morrissey is a hilarious national treasure. His "yeses" and especially his "noooooooees" are uttered with so much confidence and conviction. I still can't quite come to terms with the fact that his great humour flies way above so many peoples' heads.
Dermot (desperately trying to portray himself as an adoring fan): "Never meet your heroes people!" Morrissey dispels his bullshit so easily with his two word reply, cutting through all the pretence and falseness with two sweetly spoken words, the simple, but deadly accurate: "You haven't!" Just a different class of minds! Like Morrissey puts it, both men could be considered "famous" by today's standards, it's just Morrissey doesn't bask in the media circus, appearing everywhere he can at every opportunity. Morrissey's renown was born of his sheer skill as a songwriter, or more accurately, as a poet... From Davey, a musician, and writer, from Éire (Ireland)...
"Never meet your heroes everyone." "You haven't..." Good god this interview is amazing. I hate O'Leary and it's amazing to see Moz tear him up. I guess Morrissey really is my hero. Dermot brought it all on himself!
i like dermot standing up to Morrissey..nobody usually does and the interviews are boring...never meet your heroes...and he does sound like a fan as he's desparate for them to be bedfellows! and typically moz chooses girl least likely to...; /
1:13 "... and Simon COWSHED said that, you know, they should be wheeled off and shot and so forth..." CLASSIC Morrissey... Also his subtle stab when he refers to the show as the "X-Factory"... :) A poet at all times! :)
"the next question... you DO HAVE a next question" ... I LOVE his sarcasm! ... "I operate from the back of a van!! People are overrated!! Hahaha! ... I prefer COWS!!!! I don't say 'hey' .." He is Such a witty guy, it is intriguing - cheeky/ intelligent/brilliant/profound/funny, all at the same time...Anything BUT dull
May be coincidentical, but "Girl least likely to" does apply very well to the situation, Dermot trying to be something he is not and just wanting to be seen - totally exposed from Morrissey of course.
Also search "Morrissey interview by Russell Brand - it's quite interesting, They are both so cheeky towards each other, and what's funny is theyre both so honest and it's bizarrely revealing... :) Really gooood!
There's been no such person as Morrissey since 1990. Everything since then has just been him waiting for that monumental mind-flattening down to pass. And if he reads this, he'd be the first to thumb it up.
Hello HitchhikersBlues- I'm a Canadian, born and raised, but both my parents are from Ireland. I've visited Eire, but I feel no more Irish than the man on the moon. It's silly to pretend otherwise
I've been hiding my identity for years, I'm impressed by your masterly intuition. Sorry for demeaning Dermot, your cousin. Clearly witlessness is not inherited in your family.
dermot can't be much of a fan, as the smiths were from the 1980s whereas his 4pm saturday 'indie disco' fails to acknowledge any of this music outside of the tabloid-ish 90s era.
Don't mind Dermot, but to not know he curated Meltdown is pathetic and really pisspoor lack of research, though if he loves Morrissey like he says he would've known that....
Morrisey is a classic shy person who comes across as arrogant because of his insecurities and Dermot does quite well to keep the conversation from splatting against the wall. Same cultural background.
if O'Leary wasn't a fan he wouldn't have invited Morrissey onto his show. Morrissey is being a tool in this interview and i think he needs to take a look at himself and realise that he is an adult and therefore should behave accordingly. This charming man my arse
I love Morrissey because he is just so honest and down to earth (down to earth is a trait of Northern folk). He stands strong and unshakable in his beliefs which is so admirable and refreshing. Dermot sounds really, really slimy, dumb and creepy. Declan is in effect well and truly cornered by an astoundingly articulate genius. Declan you are a tit. Morrissey 100 - Declan 0
@channman1011 She will be soon enough. "We don't want you?" err I am English myself you know, and I'm sure there are more people in England who are against the Royal Family, then those who are for them.
Because not everybody likes to be subjugated by somebody simply because of who their father impregnated? It's an outdated concept. I can understand there being a monarchy in 1066 but in 2012 it's fucking pathetic.
I love Morrissey as an artist but here he was just being rude! if he felt that way about Dermot he shouldn't went on the show, you get what you give in this life, anger begets anger mozza
It's always interesting when somebody as banal as O'Leary comes up against the truculence of a Morrissey. Yes he's probably 'rude' in this interview but then O'Leary's claiming to be a fan yet didn't even know that he curated Meltdown. Like Grundy meeting the Sex Pistols it reminds one just how anodyne 99% of the media is.
Love Morrisey's music, on his politics though, it is easy for anyone is be critical and cynical, hard for people to suggest an alternative. He is politically clueless.
Where do your brothers live now, Ireland? If they were born in the UK, but moved back at 3 or 4, then it makes sense that they don't feel English. Of course it's very common for Irish people to hate English people. I just think it becomes absurd in Dermot's situation where England allowed his parents to immigrate, and he has loved there all his life. I like Ireland when I visit, but it doesn't feel like home. It feels like someone else's home, and if Dermot was honest he'd probably say the same
Awful interview. Morrissey was unfunny and spiteful and Dermot was cringeworthy and insipid. Also, Dermot, if you're reading, please don't slurp your drink during a broadcast - it really grates on the listener.
he's made great music but his attitude stinks. Be angry at those who deserve it etc but just fuckin well sort ur life out in the company of an ordinary human being
I love the way Morrissey says he hated making a greatest hits album, but managed to do it for the MONEY. Why did Dermot ask him which song he wanted him to pay? They all sound the same. I'm amazed he doesn't get punched in the face every-time he goes out. Can't wait for him to be named in the Jimmy Savile investigation.
zJoking asides I am 58 and I have sung in many bands into most kinds of music but when I herd the smiths what a load of crap what a sad tit. Then he got reasonably famous and he fuckn started to piss me off after years hearing him droning on I though maybe im missing something so I went on a quest to study this band and there music I gave it about 6 months all the songs vid's of them and this is a person that get into a song straight away well maybe 3 4 times listening to a song. I am a happy person and my pints always half full coming to my conclusion a long painful end I came to my decision on the SMITHS that they are CRAP
Morrissey is a hilarious national treasure. His "yeses" and especially his "noooooooees" are uttered with so much confidence and conviction. I still can't quite come to terms with the fact that his great humour flies way above so many peoples' heads.
above everyone's head except yours of course. you must be really tall or really big hea.....oh, never mind
Well, we can say that I dominate most in height.
"The X-Factory", haha brilliant.
Dermot (desperately trying to portray himself as an adoring fan): "Never meet your heroes people!" Morrissey dispels his bullshit so easily with his two word reply, cutting through all the pretence and falseness with two sweetly spoken words, the simple, but deadly accurate: "You haven't!"

I think Dermot just does not get his humour, he is taking it too seriously, Morrissey is playing with him, its funny
Morrissey is amazing, I couldn't thank him enough for what he has done to me. And his voice is so pleasant!
This is a great interview with Morrissey..Dermot seems to bring the best out in him and they both sound like they are enjoying each others comany😊
Loved that Moz picked Girl least likely to it’s one of his best wish he performed it more live
"Most people have nothing to say....NOTHING TO SAY" - Morrissey
Sadly so very true. Morrissey is my God, he knows. He knows.
I love how sarcastic he is. About 'The Stunners' hahaha. Gee check their audition out, you'll see what I'm talking about.
just did! haha
His comments on the royal wedding are sublime and totally true in addition!
"Never meet your heroes everyone."
"You haven't..."
Good god this interview is amazing. I hate O'Leary and it's amazing to see Moz tear him up. I guess Morrissey really is my hero. Dermot brought it all on himself!
i love his sarcasm.
In stitches listening to him. Very funny man.
i like dermot standing up to Morrissey..nobody usually does and the interviews are boring...never meet your heroes...and he does sound like a fan as he's desparate for them to be bedfellows! and typically moz chooses girl least likely to...; /
Ha Ha Morrisey is great. I love the Royal wedding comments and was thinking the EXACT thing at the thing. Guy is a legend.
"I prefer cows." I do too. Well, pigs really. But cows are lovely too.
1:13 "... and Simon COWSHED said that, you know, they should be wheeled off and shot and so forth..." CLASSIC Morrissey... Also his subtle stab when he refers to the show as the "X-Factory"... :) A poet at all times! :)

I love morrisseys honesty. xx
I Love Morrissey!
I love how much disdain Morrissey has for Dermot!
He was definitely being genuine about The Stunners, not sarcastic.
After all, sarcasm is the lowest form of wit so they say.
"Never meet your heroes."
"You haven't."
Wittiest man on the planet, especially when he's cranky.
This interview isn't about slagging off Dermot, it should be about celebrating the celestial wonder that is Morrissey!
X Factory 😂 you never fight sarcasm with sarcasm it never ends well.
morrissey is definitley interviewing dermot.
O'Leary is cheap and tacky and Morrisey is well aware of that, and I think so is O'Leary. If not it should have hit home to him after this
May be coincidentical, but "Girl least likely to" does apply very well to the situation, Dermot trying to be something he is not and just wanting to be seen - totally exposed from Morrissey of course.
Well, they were have a joyful conversation, I think.
I'd love to see the video for this... The reactions and such...
He's such a fucking legend
"It was hilarious" HAHAHAHA
12:07 - Mozza's sneering giggle.
Also search "Morrissey interview by Russell Brand - it's quite interesting, They are both so cheeky towards each other, and what's funny is theyre both so honest and it's bizarrely revealing... :) Really gooood!

Ariel Burdett He prob wouldn't thumb it up to not come across as if he gave you importance lol
Hello HitchhikersBlues-
I'm a Canadian, born and raised, but both my parents are from Ireland. I've visited Eire, but I feel no more Irish than the man on the moon. It's silly to pretend otherwise
this is hilarious, i love morrissey and his awkwardness
"Hey Morrissey!"
morrissey.....class act
Painful for us , painful for them.
"the x-factory" LOL
Former singer of The Snuff's! LOL
i thought this was a fairly good interview. it was flowing, mozz was playing with dermot a little. good fun.
Finally, Morrissey admits he 'operates out the back of a van' :)
Morrissey is great here!
this interview is uncomfortable, Morrissey seems to be aware of Dermo's awfulness.
Clearly listened to a different conversation
I Agree. I think everyone with a functioning brain can notice Dermot's witlessness , and of course Morrissey would too.
Mary Reilly First you are not a Mary and not even a woman but you are a loyalist troll dng. What a saddo. Soon.
I've been hiding my identity for years, I'm impressed by your masterly intuition. Sorry for demeaning Dermot, your cousin. Clearly witlessness is not inherited in your family.
Mary Reilly Nobody is fooled by orange trolls
dermot can't be much of a fan, as the smiths were from the 1980s whereas his 4pm saturday 'indie disco' fails to acknowledge any of this music outside of the tabloid-ish 90s era.
Don't mind Dermot, but to not know he curated Meltdown is pathetic and really pisspoor lack of research, though if he loves Morrissey like he says he would've known that....
oh god Dermot is so cringy urgghhh
Collaboration...!? The Mighty Morrissey feat. The Stunners...!? How about 'You're the One(s) for Me, Fatties'...!?
Has anyone ever heard The Stunners and, if so, what were they like?
Does anyone know exactly when this interview was from?
Morrisey is a classic shy person who comes across as arrogant because of his insecurities and Dermot does quite well to keep the conversation from splatting against the wall. Same cultural background.
Please listen to Dermot getting mugged off
Would you say that to Barry Manilow?
"George Alagiah's, like, brilliant!"
the x factory FUCKING GENIUS
Who's Dermot O'Leary?
Well, people come second, or possibly third...
i agree i also think people are over rated
Morrisey for PM! he would sort out this vacuous narcissistic country who are obsessed with twitter and facebook, and get them to read a book or two.
I think both are joking around
What a contradiction he says he watches the news but in his song Spent the day in bed his lyric is Stop watching the news !mmmm
if O'Leary wasn't a fan he wouldn't have invited Morrissey onto his show. Morrissey is being a tool in this interview and i think he needs to take a look at himself and realise that he is an adult and therefore should behave accordingly. This charming man my arse
@simmy3000 You clearly didn't listen to the interview.
He hasn't owned a house ANYWHERE in five or six years.
my teacher is morrissey's cuzin
whats a meltdown?
Moz trolled Dermot - and most of the whiners in this comment section too
Is it just me, or is Morrissey really like Alan Partridge in this interview?
I love Morrissey because he is just so honest and down to earth (down to earth is a trait of Northern folk). He stands strong and unshakable in his beliefs which is so admirable and refreshing. Dermot sounds really, really slimy, dumb and creepy. Declan is in effect well and truly cornered by an astoundingly articulate genius. Declan you are a tit. Morrissey 100 - Declan 0
why did moz allow this prat to intrview him
Dermot O'Creepy.
@channman1011 She will be soon enough. "We don't want you?" err I am English myself you know, and I'm sure there are more people in England who are against the Royal Family, then those who are for them.
O'Leary well out of his depth here
They were just joking around. Some people are idiots if they see it as more than that.
It gives me no pleasure to say this but I actually found Dermot slightly more entertaining than the man. :(
No pleasure should be given
Because not everybody likes to be subjugated by somebody simply because of who their father impregnated?
It's an outdated concept. I can understand there being a monarchy in 1066 but in 2012 it's fucking pathetic.
@DoctorMeatDic u cudnt butcher a dead calf
I love Morrissey as an artist but here he was just being rude! if he felt that way about Dermot he shouldn't went on the show, you get what you give in this life, anger begets anger mozza

@JoeStunner Total crap.
he's made great music but his attitude stinks. Be angry at those who deserve it etc but just fuckin well sort ur life out in the company of an ordinary human being
I heard he might be gay:(
*****:(
Might be haha
