His answers are completely unorthodox. Any other artist on the planet when being told its "good to meet you" would reply with "thanks", or "you too"....Morrissey: "Why?". Very funny man.
If I had been the interviewer, I would have replied to him by saying another unorthodox reply, and I would have said: "Well, it's not good, I am just being polite with you because that is what people usually say when you meet someone but it does not mean anything".
I've been watching a 1984 interview, what a lovely young man. I wanted to jump into the screen and say that in the future you will be more than holding your own in interviews and will be going on well past your 30s. He is in my thoughts so much at the moment, so wish I could meet him!
i like morrissey because he’s an intellectual and a poet putting all his feelings and thoughts in music… he defeated the ubiquity of bigotry among people by propelling himself at the highest peaks of musical history, something not many people who are truly smart and peculiar like him are able to do, as they always get misunderstood and pushed down by the ignorant masses. he’s helping me realise my potentials, and not being scared to say them out loud. which is very important i guess, since i’m a young person aspiring for a literary career. morrissey is the definition of genius in my view, and i make no difference between him and the great poets of the past. intelligence sparks in him, but sadly the press and the music industry aren’t very appreciative of this and exclude him oftentimes… but i guess this is good in a way: morrissey is apt for few, the lonely, the wistful, and those who see in his words a reflection of themselves and their wildest dreams of self-realisation.
I’m so glad that I saw his concert after years of silence because he couldn’t find a record company it was 2003 and two nights sold out at the Albert hall the place came down and afterwards he signed a contract and you are the quarry came out He was my idol growing up I could see myself in his songs and finally I got to see him live Now I’m done after that concert I never went to see him again because it would ruin that experience I see him differently now , like some one I look up to but that’s as far as it goes He has moved on from the smiths era so have I
People love him because he is real, interesting, but more importantly FANTASTIC at what does. The most literate Songwriter in Music history, and responsible for some of the greatest songs of the last 40 years. From his comments you can clearly see that he, like many, pines for what England used to be before Multiculturalism and Islam ruined our societies in practically every conceivable way. He is an Icon of the right. The left just like his music.
LOL no you only idolize him to the extent that his racist twattery is commensurate with yours and to the extent that you need someone more articulate but just as confidently ignorant as you to justify your lack of critical thought. A good deal of his other positions contradict rightwing values entirely but that wouldn’t be convenient for your narrative
@@luked6849 Another prick who thinks criticism of a backward, medieval ideology is racist😂😂. You should try some 'critical thought' yourself, Luke. Before your nice, white neighborhood is colonised by the Islamic hordes. I can't wait to see idiots like you in 20 years, when you finally realise you have welcomed a Trojan horse behind our walls. Racist.. honestly!
Uh no I think rhetoric about “nice white neighbourhoods” being corrupted by “multiculturalism” and “colonized by hordes” suffices for the racism bit but I wouldn’t expect your obviously superior British wit to fail to enable the kind of mental gymnastics you’re dependent on (“foreign influence” is bad when Muslims exist or something, not when a “backwards medieval ideology” of imperial conquest under the pretext of civilization justifies centuries of colonialism and continued exploitation and destabilization of the middle east etc). You could stand to learn a thing or two from the left, who are actually doing the dirty work of fighting ISIS in Syria, which needless to say is more than you’ll ever accomplish by idolizing people who make you feel good about overestimating your intelligence and underestimating your cryptofascism, twat

Great interview. Morrissey is definitely an icon. I mean who else is like him? No one!
Morrissey brought me out of depression many times growing up through his music...Thank you sir
danny fisher interesting considering he's been depressed for the last 40 years ( he claims ) .
Only people with depression can reach people with depression..in my opinion.

he sent me spiraling into it

Morrissey speaks to so many across all divisions. Speaks to me, and i see a lot of myself in him.
Always loved Morrisey's respect for animals ⭐️
Never imagined back in the 80s that in 2023 I'd be more excited to see DANNY ROBINS in this video clip. Bloody hell Ken! 😂

I think he actually did appear in the public eye and say "here I am, I am an icon". And he was quite right.
Thanks for re-uploading this. I was looking for it.

How could anyone think this thoughtful sensitive man is truly a racist? Ridiculous.
