- Morrissey is interviewed by Dermot O'Leary on the occassion of the release of The Very Best of Morrissey. Dermot pretends to be a fan, but Morrissey isn't convinced. Especially when Dermot is surprised at Morrissey's comment about the royal wedding: everyone who knows him would have seen that one coming. Morrissey is more or less cooperative but does not hide his real sentiments towards the empty-headed and slightly rude X-factor presenter. He later apologized. He shouldn't have.
I don't know what all the fuss about. This is the best Morrissey interview I've ever heard. He's brilliant and I think O'Leary gives it back too. Who's dared do that to Morrissey face to face?
*Johnny Marr*
"You don't rule the world, Dermot... -_-" pure class
He's right, I'll support Morrissey until the day I die! He is my hero!
"you don't need an octopus, you really don't" morrissey 4:55
*we ALL do*
Oh Morrissey... How I Love You Dearly!
'You read?' haha, great snipe
He is an individual in a world where everyone immitates each other, thats why he seems odd or awkward, he hates to conform to whats expected of him.
*'Be yourself, everyone else is taken'*
*-- Patti Smith*
"How do you know that?" "I read it a couple of times." I'll forever be enchanted by how naturally Morrissey makes people look like absolute idiots.
Ah lads, great interview. it takes 2 British men who consider themselves Irish to have an decent chat in the BBC.
Dermot shouldn't have expected anything less than the treatment he got, given his octopi-based slaughter.
Only listening for Moz
My friend's band supported Morrissey on the tour mentioned here. They're called Flats, they're alright.
Dermot the 'superfan' doesn't know that Morrissey was in the Brookside spin-off.....
did they get a room after the interview?
Feeling the love bro:)
lol this was a funny interview. Morrisey cracks me up. Hes a true INDIVIDUAL who knows people well and deosn't give a fuck
*---- well ----*
Beautifully said my friend...
I think they had fun.
@sirtinycreep yeah thats pretty much what his whole career was based on, his legendary misery made him rich and famous, and of course a LEGEND
@Steerpike07 Why would you want Morrissey to mellow out, or rest on his laurels - even if he could afford to do that? Unless he wants to of course.
yeah but he doesn't conform to try to be cool and quirky and whatever, he isn't non-conformist he's anti conformist.
for someone who supposedly does very limited press, steven sure does have a shitload of interviews to choose from.
-_- shut up its MORRISSEY NOT STEVEN ANYMORE!
He's right about Corrie.
Ahaha spot on I think he would have liked Pat Phelan I reckon 😂
I thought that was a really good interview. I thought Dermot was good, too.
Morrissey actually apologised about this interview.
why did he apologize??
well dermot did say after 'you shouldn't meet your idols' about the interview he thought he was being off saying he was fine between being on air having a nice chat ect. but when he was on air he was being awkward, and after a bit morrissey sort of said sorry for being awkward, not directly to dermont though, just in general.
It must be great to have such low expectations.
*Malcolm McLaren*
The title of part 1 was slightly different when I first uploaded it, hope it will start to show up now that I changed it.
Not one good question.
Has he ever..?
4:28 onwards
Morrissey is just awkward and contrary and grumpy for the sake of it..like when he says 'no' to Dermot's suggestion to play Interlude, then apologises that he's just "so automated to say 'no'". Will Morrissey ever become mellow? He sounds like he makes himself nervous instead of just chilling out and relaxing on his laurels.
He looks like a bank manager n'all.
no shit sherlock! jeez
Morrissey doesn't seem very happy to me.
mozza is so scared and has to be in control all the time which of course is an illusion god bless him but still love him
Well, I think it's pretty self explanatory. For starters, he is so middle of the road it's a wonder he hasn't been run over. He's representative of today's politically correct moron. Just listen to his outraged responses to Morrissey, who is merely voicing his opinion- as he is perfectly entitled to do. Is it now law that we all must love Mary Nightingale? Or, that we should eat octopus? And, that annoying high voice he uses to feign surprise screams kid's TV presenter!
When I think O'Leary I think Morrissey
