his voice crack was so funny in the first round of the video. he sounded very nervous at the start but yeah probably the best pick for an announcer. made it very enjoyable to watch
@@sunny30675 not sure, but they probably paid him a pretty good amount to host. They needed somebody who knows the game incredibly well, and I don’t think any of the players would have as well as he did talking for that long.
@@sunny30675 He's not like the best but he could definitely compete. I think he's just a better fit for this role and he generally seems to like taking a more supporting role for the community in general.
I love the duo of a player who knows the game’s basics and an expert. Launders asks the questions we would ask because us average viewers don’t have nearly the same amount of information as rain does. It also helps that launders has so much experience as a commentator in CS.
@@if3763 I've never played geoguesser, but from what I remember this video was entertaining as fuck. Amazing production, great casters and some insane competitors. Overall a massively successful first WC imho. Big shoutout to Raingoat for popularising GG to this level. Can't wait for 2024.
IT WAS INSANE - i am so excited to see how this progresses now that productions, advertisers and orgs have an example and proof that geoguessr can pull in serious numbers and attention. It's so boomer friendly too so it might even attract conservative and hesitant buisnesses to lean into this type of esport.
I hope the format changes a bit in regard to the gamemode - I feel it should be about who's closest in each round (being closest gives 1 point), this would mean comebacks are always possible (more excitement) and each country has equal weight (means a round in e.g. Montenegro is suddenly just as exciting as one in Russia).
@@TheRubinho96he did well at talking to the players, but I feel like his lack of understanding in the game caused him to not ask meaningful questions. Reacting to all the big plays. Thank you for running this event. I feel so lucky it was in the next town over so I could come watch.
To spend an entire saturday evening pinned to the monitor and having the time my life was so special. And here I am today too rewatching the semifinals (holy crap that game between Fungus and Consus was amazing) and finals again. What an amazing event it was, production, casters, games. It really had it all and I already look forward to the 2024 WC. Because surely you make this an annual event from now on? :)
i'm a huge Counter-Strike nerd & i was so confused when this video autoplayed & i hear Launders casting something wildly different from CSGO/CS2. Respect to these GeoGuessr players - insane skill for a layman like myself.
I would have never thought that i would watch a 7 hour long stream without getting bored and enjoying every moment but this stream made the expection, what a championship!
I watch a LOT of DotA2 and CS pro matches/events.... and you guys did really well with this. I don't geoguess... I've heard of it but never really got into it in any way, but this was entertaining. Good luck to you guys, and congrats to the winners. This was fun, looking forward to more, and to what innovations and ideas get applied to the production in later iterations.
I've never been interested in esports, but by the end of this I was screaming out loud for the winner. I can't believe the final play came down to my home country too! I love how accessible this event was even as someone who knows next to nothing about GeoGuessr, not just because you as a viewer can try to guess at home, but also because the commentary was so engaging and they explained the rules and intricacies very clearly. Well done, organizers and participants!
So many emotions... I am very glad that such a large-scale championship was held in Geoguessr. It was very interesting and unforgettable. Congratulations for Consus❤
Make it more crazy and hype A two vs two format, one player has to describe the scenery while the other one is blindfolded and makes the call on where to pick.
The funniest thing about it is that it's so fucking intense and exciting xD Who would have thought that something like this can be so much fun to watch ^^
I will say this is a great cast from launders and rainbolt, launders comment and question and rainbolt knowledge and answer is really a great combination the banters between them is perfect, they really make this fun but also informative to watch. I will also add making game like this fun even for a newbie like me is a plus so kudos again to launders.
that incredulous smile in the final interview was so cute and heartwarming to see, and super well-deserved after such intense and close matches... What an amazing event, and so well-produced! Big props to the production team, the commentators and everyone involved.
Watched the final round on the edge of my seat. Kudos to all the players and the announcers that did such a great job explaining the rules of the game to a layman
Launders and Rainbolt casting together = 100% entertainment. Would be nice to see Srawny and ZigZag cast together when Zig isn't playing :D would be hella fun too :D
1:30:38 As a Filipino, when the German player changed his guess from a very flat area to a famously mountainous area, I just went "no, nooooooo, don't, oh nooooo"
Wow, what a fantastic show! And that Fungus vs Consus game was absolutely insane! P. S. That plonk by Blinky on 5:36:13 was just ridiculous for me :). Tatarstan is a rich oil region and road quality there is near impecable, you definitely wouldn't find a pothole-sprangled pavement like that nowhere near Kazan
Did Lennli not guess on purpose in the second game (after the tech issue) so that the score goes back to how it was at the end of the first round? If so, respect to Lennli. Classy move
3:21:16 no fucking way, I've been down this road a couple times for concrete cutting contracts at a freezing works on this road. I also have mates that live just around the corner from here. Small world.
Great event. One critique on the event: have more specific interviews with the players where you bring up highlights of their guesses and ask them to explain their choices.
Best E-Sport there is. Nothing comes close. I only play casually and I don't think I am bad, not knowing the meta, but this is beyond anything I thought was possible.
1:34:40 should have been an easy 5k for both! It's literally 10 meters away from the border, there is a giant Swiss flag, a Swiss customs information board, and the bollards switch from French design to Swiss design halfway trough the road.
Commentators completely missed that Lennli gave his opponent the points gap back from before the technical issues. He of course couldnt say that so that noone questions the outcome
As a belgian those first rounds where funny because... I think everyone has this but you can just immediatly guess your own country... So everytime I was like holy shit its BELGIUM
