This is the best video on assembling these kits! Twisting and soldering the all the G wires is the hardest part, I just did it.

What's stopping you from your first DIY speaker build? Let me know your thoughts on DIY builds, good or bad experiences. I would also really appreciate a subscribe as we are only 997,400 short of the goal! 🙃 Just kidding of course, have a great day!

Thanks for the instructions on assembling the crossover board and soldering the connections... Good idea to run the jumper wires through the zip ties.

This was far the best and cleanest work for both cabinets & x-overs, I've come across you tube.
Your very detailed explanation, inspired me to go and try my own DIY project. Well done. Happy listening.

Great project! You made it look pretty easy. For all of you guys that think you need 8 gauge $10,000 speaker wire, this is what's inside your typical speakers.

Thanks Mike, and your not wrong, on the typical crossover the wire gauge will surprise many.

One of the best solder guides I've seen, I'm sure a lot of people will find that super helpful for their first build. Also that resin inside the cabinet seems like it could be a nice extra step for any build you want to go the extra mile for. Not only would it make stronger in general added density and the fact that its a different density than MDF should really help cut down on box resonances.

Glad you liked it! The resin did have an interesting result, really did well removing resonance.

I would by carefull. When soldering electrolitic capacitors waiting a bit more time than necesary can melt internal layers. If you have grosser sold applying heat on vire and wait is not always good solution and created problem is a bit worst then just loosing junction on other end of vire

Thanks, it was rough when I started, took it down to the studs last summer and still a bit of a work in progress.

Over the winter I bought and built the 1-TDX kit from CSS. They sound incredible! I would say if I had it to do over I'd skip the Baltic birch cabinet option and go MDF. I felt I had far more experience with staining and poly than my zero experience with veneer. The birch is not worth the extra cost, did not have the fit I've seen in the MDF, and even with conditioner the stain didn't come out anywhere where I'd like it to be. I think I'm going to build the Torii set to replace the soundbar in our great room. I've never veneered before but I like the myriad of wood options. I'll have to figure out the amp situation afterward but I really miss the sound quality of real speakers over a sound bar but I have to balance that with what my wife wants. Thanks for part 1 and 2! Lots of useful information even after I've built a set.

MDF does tend to be a little easier to work with, just a mess when you have to sand or cut it. Don't be too worried about the veneer, the process isn't too bad once you get started. Have a good one!

My first diy speaker set was baltic birch which I veneered over, worked really well! Mdf is easier to sand and shape though. Although I shaped parts of my speaker boxes with a rasp and file, (don't have a router) that wouldn't be very feasible to nicely do with mdf. Both have their merits!

Would an electric sander suffice for those corner bumps in lieu of the router?

I sanded all the mdf away and found it was a little thin. Doh
