  • Who was Nestorius? What did he say about Jesus that was controversial? What do Nestorians belive when it comes to Jesus' birth? What did Nestorius say about Mary? In this video, we'll take a look at one of the earliest schisms in Church History as it relates to Nestorius and Cyril of Alexandria.
    Excerpt:
The fifth century is inundated with numerous theological controversies which left
the Church in schisms persisting to this very day. Despite being a tragic century in
this sense, it included numerous figures who upheld the Orthodox faith.

Way too much time is wasted on discussions of creed and dogma. The real question is: Are you doing the works that Jesus commanded - are you healing the sick and raising the dead? Do you have the Mind of Christ? Are you bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ? Do you love God with all your heart and soul and mind and your neighbor as yourself? If you're not doing all these things, how can you call yourself a Christian? Stop debating and start following the Master.

I side with your words on this, Afterall, we can't challenge the facts that Jesus was a Jewish person, and he lived doing a real person of that time, Jewish, so he learned the Jewish life, I disapprove with how much the Christians church changed it, from the Jewish man who was Jesus, to fantastical fantasizing Jesus, I love that you have stated that.

Who is this Jesus you are saying to follow? Is he just a man or is he also God? Was it just a man who died for us or did God the creator himself take on flesh and die in my place? That changes everything including how you forgive others. People can get so focused on theology that they forget about living it out but the other ditch of saying dont really debate this stuff is equally as bad. Theology matters, you said if you dont love God with all youre heart mind and soul then how van you call yourself a christian….. that is law and christians should try to obey the law but they cant actually do that. The thing that makes you a christian os that you have faith that Christ did that in you’re place. Thats theology and its how we properly define who is a christian. Its easy for us to throw out or minimize theology when we have 2000 years of christian history but it doesnt honor God

Nestorius was not an adoptionist, that would be Paul of Samosata. Nestorius believed the Word was conjoined to Jesus before birth.
Nestorius quoted by Saint Cyril in his second tome against nestorius: "If in simple faith you had been putting forward the word Mother of God, I would not have grudged it you, on examining the sense of the word. But since I see that you, on plea of honouring the blessed Mary, are maintaining the blasphemy of the heretics, I therefore ward off the putting forth of the word, suspecting the danger that is concealed therein. But to speak clearly and more intelligibly to all, it is the aim of the party of Arius and Eunomius and Apolinarius and of all who are of like brotherhood, to bring in Theotokus, as though, a mingling having taken place and the two natures not divided, nought of the meaner things were taken of the human nature, and they had place at length against the Divinity, as though all things were spoken of One, not in regard to the rank from connection, but to Nature. For One is Christ, and One Lord: but in respect of Christ, I mean of the Only-Begotten Son, both Christ and Son are said, one while, of the Godhead, another while of the Manhood and Godhead."

The Antiochian school pre theodore also had a unitary Christology as seen in fathers like Saints Ignatius and Eustathius. It shouldn't be taken the state of the antiochian school in the 5th century is indicative of its previous state. The Syraic Orthodox church and her theologians are a good testimony to this.

@@paul11magdy Thank you Paul for your precious comments. We did not mention that Nestorious is an adoptionist like Paul of Samosata. Also, please remember, each school was calling for 'unitary christology'; however, they expounded on this in different ways. We hope this helps. God bless.

Im gonna be really disappointed if this is planned to be a build up to say that the schism in the council of chalcedon was caused due to misunderstanding

Thank you so much for your comment. In part, and we will have more to say about this in future episodes, the "Formula of Reunion" became the source of the schism between the Antiochene and Alexandrine churches, which led to the ultimate division between these two schools of thought at Chalcedon. Even at Chalcedon, the fathers on either side debated what Cyril meant when he mentioned "two natures" in the Formula of Reunion. Please let us know if you have any further questions, comments, or concerns.

flesh fully man, born to Mary. spirit, eternal God, no mother. one person.
Nestorianism, Christian sect that originated in Asia Minor and Syria stressing the independence of the divine and human natures of Christ and, in effect, suggesting that they are two persons loosely united.
catholicism mixes and commingles the 2 natures.
    God cannot die, Jesus died.

So the BASED foundation of Catholisism.... is from Nestorius :'O , Literally from HIS LETTER I QUOTE :Theotokus, as though, a mingling having taken place and the two natures not divided, nought of the meaner things were taken of the human nature, and they had place at length against the Divinity, as though all things were spoken of One, not in regard to the rank from connection, but to Nature. @@paul11magdy he just explained that Jesus had two natures divine and human that they were in the same body and the Catholic thought that he was speaking about two different persons inside of his body but that wasn't the case and the stories was even a solo scriptura because every time to make a point he was quoting scriptures contrarily to the people from Alexandria and he was quoting that Mary was only had to be called mother of Christ and not mother of God because when he was playing who got is the godhead is the Father the Son and the Holy Spirit and Mary didn't give birth to them she only give birth to the Messiah to Christ which was a human but his divineity does it imply to her for those reasons so she should be called Mary mother of Christ and not marry mother of God even though that Nestorios already knew that Jesus was God and human so he accepted that she was God but when Mary had to be called Mary of God that was wrong because she didn't give birth to the god of the godheads which is the father Son and Holy Spirit which until last year's the Orthodox and the Catholic Church sign that they should be able to call Mary mother of Christ which is literally what nestorius was defending so he was right and even now when you say to a Catholic how is it that Jesus said to the father my Lord and my God they say oh well it's the human nature who's speaking not the divine well this is the same explanation that Nestorious was giving . So ....He was right 😔

@@TheBibleCode im pretty sure you haven't read the bazaar if you think it proves his Orthodoxy. This quote is likely from Saint Cyril being quoted by nestorius. Early Antiochian Theologians like Saints Ephraim and Araphat are the real representatives of the Antiochian school, not cursed innovators which came after like Theodore, Diodore, and Nestorius who asserted that God the Word and Jesus were distinct persons. Also your historical account for Nestorius' condemnation is over simplified and inaccurate. I recommend reading a scholarly work like the Council of Ephesus by Richard Price to have a more realistic view.

This video has already been able to provide proofs, that the church of the Roman Empire, liked to have a idea, on the perception of Jesus story, evolution in being a more so, individual rather than what he actually was, they seemed to have preferred to go ahead with the hyping up, the Jesus stuff, they resided to go with that, they sided with Cyril of Alexandria, and that they had removed the previous fellow, nestorius had been exiled for having the idea of Jesus, that they didn't like, they replaced nestorius with Flavian of Constantinople, it's Constantinople who had the change story of Jesus being godly, so this must be where the Catholic church, get the idea from, this is the chance evidence shift taking place, in the Christians Bible, the move away from the real story of Jesus, to fantastical fantasizing Jesus, so that they go simply say that God is on their side, that they have the correct power of attorney, to me this was the quick enough, information, end of the stick answer that the Christians Bible has had an evolution, in the Bible, because they wanted more power and punch to launch a new testament religion, it really does segest the Jews theory that the Christians are Edom idolatry religion, and not following the original religion at all, which disturbs me greatly, if they were following the Jesus instructions accurately, you wouldn't need to change anything, that is that you are truthfully holding onto the actions of realism, and that you can say God won't be angry at this, and we have nothing to worry about, with God when end of day's stuff comes, why mess with God, but these bolder than Bould brazen men did anyway, I'm upset because I have this explanation, of this with seeing the timeline, of these men making these changes, and so I have to put this into belief, that I must have this correct information about this, I have to put this into consideration now, that the Jews say the Christians are wrong, as info on the topic of Christianity, what is real is real, if you stand in front of God and stear up at God, and swear you know that you tried to find out what the truth is, hopefully God will take notice of this, I want to be able to say, hay God I found that the Christians church changed it, from the Jews Bible to something else, and I didn't say that Jesus is God, have mercy on me please dear God most high who created the universe and everything else.
