#ASRock #X570Taichi #X570
Another great video Luke. Your board coverage and analysis videos are by far the most comprehensive and in depth on youtube. I have the x470 and x570 taichi, they are great stable boards i wish Asrock spent a little more on the onboard audio solutions their purity sound 4 is very basic albeit works without fault. Really looking forward to your thoughts on the X570 Impact when you get your hands on one.
Thanks to my local Microcenter, I got this board for $250 when I purchased it with my 3900x; insane deal.
What do you think about this motherboard ?
4:30 Regarding the USB C, bought my Taichi from Newegg late November 2019 and looks to be revised. Instead of Vertical orientation, it is now Horizontal orientation and should not be blocked anymore.
They rotated it up and out of the way yeah. As can be seen in this recent vid from 2:25 on:
ua-cam.com/video/zgKC6VoajTU/v-deo.html&ab_channel=WirPackenAusHardware
I really wanted to see what it looked like now, since I already axed one potential x570 board cuz it didn't have the usb c that my newly ordered case will have. But that was a bit of a hunt, seeing as every reviewer out there pretty much did their thing 10 months ago with pics and promotional material of the original layout. ;)
Should I go for Asrock motherboards or Asus Motherboards???
Great vid! Just got my x570 taichi and the USB C header position has been fixed!
Can you share a picture of what it looks like now?
Should I Buy Asrock x870e Taichi in 2024??
Definitely one of the best X570 motherboards out there. Sub 300$ is the best choice, have the X470 Taichi and love it...
Should I go for Asrock Taichi motherboard or Asus Hero??? 🧐
Brilliant note on the USB header mess up. Due to buy this next week and will check with supplier it's the newer style! Thanks.
Well done review. IMO Dual BIOS is pointless if you can use flashback to recover from a bad flash, in fact, I very much prefer the flashback option because it tends to be more foolproof than dual BIOS solutions. As for the poor SB cooling design, this seems to be common across numerous manufacturers with a lot of them positioning the fan directly under where most GPUs will cover, not exactly ideal.
luke mentions this at 7:46
@@KitGuruTech Missed it, good stuff.
The capacity to create or alter the chipset heatsink is hopefully an issue I won't encounter, I have however recently purchased this board. It's one of few that have 2 16x slots with 8x 8x lanes. Very hand for a workstation with many screens - few alternatives exist and I didn't want to go to intel.
TY for the review I chose this motherboard for a 5900 x and 6800 video card with a Seagate 510 firecuda 1TB nvme with a clx 360 water cooling block with 32 gigs of xpg spectrix d41 ram at 3200 mhz
What does everyone think of the current crop of X570 motherboards - is the Taichi a good option or do you have your eye on something else?
I own this board and I love it!
Waiting for the X570 Impact if its ever released.
X570 is kinda a minefield. Im happy with my X470 Taichi board from ASRock. I might get the Impact for an ITX system when its released but Im not really interested in it to be honest as I won't be upgrading for a while yet.
No complaints so far; the chipset fan can be adjusted in bios
I'd like to see them release a v2.0 and correct all the areas you mentioned. If so, I think it'd be a 100% win case at $300.00 USD.
An awesome review and video Luke 😁 👍
Excellent, informative video! I’m not a tech by any stretch of the imagination, but I feel I understood at least 85% of what you said. Thanks!
Good review. Thank you!
I like the fact that you don't need to purchase a heat sink for the m.2 drives as they're built in. Of course, you can't use one if you purchased one with your m.2 drive you'll be a bit disappointed, but considering that most drives don't come with a heat sink, I like the X570 Taichi solution.
This is an exceptional review, balancing depth and insight with clear, accessible language.
As a side note, ASROCK doesn’t seem to have addressed The issue where the USB-C header access is stifled by the GPU. Big ooph.
EDIT: USB-C placement has since been revised.
I have one of these that I bought around a year ago and it has a revised placement that put it just above the GPUs PCB / back plate. Just in case you or anyone else is coming across this comment while researching the board
@@Jordan_C thanks for the update. I’ve added a clarification to my original comment.
Just bought this board in March 21 and can tell you they have repositioned the USB port that you cant use due to the GPU.
Awesome thanks I plan on getting this board 👍
i just bought one for $205
This board is amazing. Love it.
When you did the OC to 4250MHZ 1.35V all core, was that the type of OC where the CPU and Voltage always run at that speed even during idle? If yes do you recommend this for people who have this cpu/mobo combo mainly for gaming and just some occasional video editing etc. I ask because I'm used to setups that boost up when needed and then idle at much lower volts/mhz and not sure if that type of OC will lessen the life of my system. I know some people might not mind but even when I build a new PC in say 2025 or something I still want this one to work good as a second/third pc. Also I liked your video a lot by the way. I seen a few others from people I consider to be in depth, like way more than Linus (least level of in depth) but yours was great, you really cover all the bases, I was glad when I subscribed to you after watching because I could tell you care about this a lot in your reviews. So many other reviews leave people in situations they didn't know were gonna come up.
I think I'll be giving X570 a miss, hopefully they'll have a better solution to do away with the fan & it's noise on the next gen boards, I've currently got a last gen Ryzen chip on the Asus Prime X470 pro m/b which I'm told is okay with the latest bios and Ryzen 3000 so if I do grab a 3000 series I'll be okay to stick with what I've got as I can't see anything to warrant upgrading to a first gen pcie4 board.
I have an X370 Taichi, since 3950X will work with it I won't be upgrading to X570 as it only offers PCIe4
Sydney Murray lol what?! You’re getting a $750 USD CPU and you’re putting it into an X370? Why do you need 16 cores? Wouldn’t you be better off getting a 3600 and a new b450 motherboard?
@@hantzleyaudate7697I need to run 4 VM's, that's why I require 16-Cores. But I also like to game that's why I have two 2080 ti's

@@waitandhope Yes. Two 4 Disk RAID 0's in Linux, a Primary that runs as me and a Back-Up that Runs as Root. Just in case I catch a Virus and it corrupts/deletes/encrypts the Primary.
I’m having problems with mine can you test the motherboard and chassis fans without seating the CPU? I’ve RMAed one board already. I get no power up, basically. I haven’t been able to find a cpu as of yet but wanted to see my Corsair 680X RGB working at least. Other people say I should be able to boot up the board without the CPU for BIOS flashing. It has a flash button? I’ve cleared the CMOS, I’m not sure what else is going on other than I need to seat a CPU.
great review.
I would have said the biggest design flaw was to locate the PCH fan directly under the GPU, at least they had room for that cog graphic.🙄 There was me thinking heat rises (Asus have done exactly the same cockup on their x570 boards).
I seriously dislike the current trend for bulky motherboard shrouds, they block airflow (especially for GPUs in passive mode) and cause compatibility issues with PCIe cards.
I'm looking to move off an Asus x570-P, the main reason is the fan (current workaround is blasting it with a 140mm fan), yet I can still hear the PCH above a desk fan semi-closed [velour earpad] headphones. It's like a fcuking dial tone, but a higher pitch which keeps shifting. When the motherboard temp is 30-31c on a hot day like today (high 20's outside). Was thinking about getting a B550 board, but their pretty overpriced, and I can see the PCH getting saturated fairly easily (I'm a software dev and some testing can push around a fair bit of data to/ from disk). I'm kind of tempted to see what x670 looks like in just a couple of months...(hopefully sans fans)🤔
There was a time when I found upgrading computers to be fun, these days it is more of a hassle.
How are u suppose to access the headers on the very bottom of theboard if u populate the last slot with a graphics card or other card plz tell?
Would that board with the AMD 3900X CPU have enough PCI-e lanes to be able to support 3 Samsung 970 Evo Nvme.M2 x4 storage devices along with an Nvidia 2080TI video card in 16x mode at full speed please? Would I experience performance loss due to an insufficient number of PCI lanes? I think the 3900X have 24 lanes but 4 lanes of that is dedicated to the chipset so 20 spare lanes in total? I am not too sure how is that calculated. Could someone with the necessary knowledge give me a definitive answer please?
Just thinking if you really wanted to use the nvme's with their own cooler you could leave off the cover and disable the fan .
What has similar features with easier M2 installs and silent chipset mobo fan?
Plz make a video explaining msi x570 tomahawk
Is it Daisy chain or T topology and does it even matter on ryzen 3000?
Darko Kutleša It is T-topology
It’s actually daisy chain in the retail versions, confirmed by Buildzoid himself on Reddit. They changed it last minute, so you’re better off with two sticks
Oh wow. You saved me 300$. So what is the best board to use for Ryzen 9 5950x?
Best bang for your dollar x570 board ? Thoughts ? Suggestions ? (This is the max of my budget)
BIOS lacks many features/options of other manufacturers, regardless, a fantastic AM4 board
Such as?
im at a cross roads between this board and the ASUS Prime x570-PRO. not a gamer, but i vlog and would like to edit my 1080p vids smoothly. any advice from anybody would be great.
is there a way to achieve 5ghz internet with this motherboard via ethernet? any option for a gamer/ streamer pov
I built pc with asrock x570 Taichi and samsung 970 evo plus 250gb but on first lunch nvme is not recognized, i got it in the same slot like u (m2_1) and graphics card is in top slot which is x16... Can you please tell me if its even compatible with latest bios or it is not compatible with my motherboard at all? Thanks!
@Rahq Vuth fixed it, just had to update bios... Thanks anyway!
Ive been using asrock boards for many years..i find them the most stable..
Should I go for Asrock Taichi motherboard or Asus Hero??? 🧐
this mobo or asus strix e gaming x570?
this
@@muntasirmahmudsaif6239 nope strix e is better overall performance wise bios wise too
Which ram will run at 4600mhz on this board?
This board supports the 5000 series cpu ?
What would be the best slot for a single 2TB M.2 drive.
First slot, is conected direct on CPU, others is on chipset.
Someone said the X570 chipset chip gets hot because it was made for next gen consoles instead of a PC mainboard, I wonder if that is true.
I thought chipsets for consoles are custom made for them 🤔
Mine stays bellow 38C at all times. I never heard any noise in it until i swapped my CPU cooler. My new cooler is inefficient and loud At times. This board is amazing.
See, this is why I am not enthusiastic about M.2 SSDs when you have to remove that shroud. No wonder there are 8 SATA ports. It´s much more convenient, regardless of being cheaper.
Thing is, how many times are you realistically going to be removing that heatsink?
@@bean420man . So you are going to make things more complicated simply because you probably are only going to do it once? Think about it. Imagine if they would do the same with RAM sticks. Doesn´t make any sense. Regardless, there are options for everyone so by all means...
@@PinkasBrown44 If removing 5 screws and your GPU is too complicated, lord help you.
@@bean420man Straw man argument. If it can be made easier and quicker, it should be made so. Otherwise you might as well go back to how PCs were built 3 decades ago. ´Lord help you´ then... :)
@@PinkasBrown44 Point is, it is not hard. It may be annoying but it is not hard to do. Being hard and being annoying are two very different things.
Also, PC building was never particularly hard or complicated. Sure, there were a lot more slots to put stuff in and in some cases, jumpers to set but it was by no means a hard task.

does it have front usb c header?
Yeah
Well that sucks, so the poor people who bought the first batch get a usb header that's in the worst place possible while anyone else gets the fixed design, they should offer everyone a 15 dollar credit for putting up with this crap I wouldn't buy it now LOL How annoying. How do I know if the one I find in the future is the fixed version too? How many of these will float around for years
