people complain about combos, I mean I love Necalli, in SF4 all of the combo vids were amazing but mad impractical, atleast these make sense and people can definitely use them

That's the point of combo videos. They're supposed to be flashy and interesting, not BNBs that you steal for actual matches.

Apparently I'm the only person who believes that footsies, mindgames, and generally outplaying the opponent takes precedent over combos when it comes to the core of a solid fighting game. Because who gives a fuck about fundamentals when you can look flashy as shit, right?!
And yes, I realize that Desk thrives on creating impractical videos that are fun to watch. But these past few videos have been made purely for newcomers to develop ideas for their mains. He realizes that the combo system for the game is limited.
And pardon me if I sound like a Capcom dick rider, but I don't exactly see an issue with toning down the execution barrier of a game if it welcomes more people to the series. Isn't that the goal of every fighting game ever? To hopefully bring forth people that have never touched an installment in your series to finally do so? Seems logical to me.

+Narutou01 Combos don't make high level play engaging. Go watch SF4 tournament the best moments are those intense last pixel moments when both characters are playing perfect footsies. For example Daigo vs Infiltration at Capcom Cup.
+TheFuuru Every company needs more players in their franchise. More players means that we will continue to get more SF games, there will be more players a tournaments and also more tournaments themselves, it will also allow for mor future DLC to games such a potential second wave of characters in SFV.

I don't understand the fact that Capcom fighters always were proud about their fundamentals, but when Capcom make a game around them they get really mad.
Also, people want Q, Alex and Sean in SFV but it seems they forgot that in 3rd strike these characters barely had any combos.

whats even more impressive is when those reads require them to pull of difficult combos in a high stakes situation without dropping them in order to capitalize. nothing is more exciting than seeing players pull of things that people normally couldn't do in a stressful environment. and knowing that every dropped combo can lead to their defeat adds another layer of depth to the excitement of watching. making things easier and limited takes all of that away. its something that i didn't really notice until i watched kof13 at evo and its part of the same reason as to why umvc3 is still so exciting for people who don't even play it even after all these years. high level play is impressive because *everything* that they do requires skill and is difficult. taking part of the difficulty away simultaneously makes the players less impressive to watch.

Remember when SFIV was just coming out? And almost all the 3S players were bitching about the exact same things all of you are now. This game is still early, Desk didn't come out of the gate with the combos he was doing towards the end of SFIV, give it time. Fighting games aren't all about combos, they're so much more. That's why people love them.

So is his light stomp to cr. mp a 1-frame link? I've been trying to hit it during the beta, but I could only get it on counter hit.
there aren't one frame links in this game besides some very specific setups. lk stomp just doesn't combo unless it's counter hit.
+RagnellAlondite With V-trigger on he can do c.MP to MK stomp to c.MP, that's what you saw.

+Joshua Smith i remember getting my first stick and hating it because it felt uncomfortable, find your natural joystick grip and you can poke the buttons like a toddler on a keyboard and still succeed. im really quite good at 4 (3.5kpp) and i still press buttons like that. good luck!

I think Comparing SFV to SFIV is kinda not the best comparison...I'd personally compare it to the EX series becouse of the Slow'ish combos and 3rd Strike becouse of the use of Footsies...My opinion though. Comparing it to SFIV is lile Comparing Marvel to Tekken...

Seriously, you kids have too much time on your hands these days, finding all kinds of obscure combos and shit.
If you guys love stylish combos, Street Fighter is not the game for you. There is no Street Fighter game in its series that has a deep combo system (except for Alpha 3 of course, but that game was a hot mess).
Even if you said SF4 had an actual "in-depth" combo system...most of these long combos are basically just the same short combo looped over and over again after each FADC, and all of them are impractical. Besides, SF4 wasn't even about combos at all.
Idk why you're all playing Street Fighter if you play fighting games just to do flashy combos. Heck, the majority of the people play and like Street Fighter for different reasons.

They were fun, yes. Even the best videos of desk are from Vanilla. People love Vanilla. Yes, it was fun. But of course, USF4 is a much better game. SFV is boring, slow, lame, with a system copied from KI but worst, horrible design of certain characters like ken, ryu and so on.... Man, i could right a book about it. "It sucks -give me My money back" would be the tittle.

killer instinct got the combo system right. easy for new players yet hard enough to separate the weak from the strong. street fighter is going to die with capcom and that's what it deserves for not keeping up with the Times. even mkx's combo system is better and more engaging than this.
