Excellent video and it's clear as day how you have the Pike's welfare first and foremost 👍 it's just a shame there's inconsiderate anglers out there 😣 I've just subbed to your channel and look forward to watching more content from a Really Good and Respectful Angler 👍👍👍

Fantastic video mate, and it was good to see you saving the pikes life. Any idea when you will make your crimping video as I am sat waiting to make some the same 💯😊

As others have said, great job taking the time to get those hooks out... having the right tools is what its all about, why these guys can't fork out for a few unhooking accessories is beyond me... 🙄
I really like your vid style, quiet and laid back, not overly verbose... my kinda fishing partner.. I was also rivetted (crimped even !😂) to the titanium "mini tutorial" , gotta get me some of that stuff, your way of making the trace "modular" is a great idea, especially as these traces last so long... yer not stuck with traces that only match particular deadbait or fishing method...
The drone footage really shows the drop-off clearly... that pipe looks sketchy, hopefully its just field drainage of rainwater.. 🤔
Keep the vids coming mate... and have a Happy New Year !!
    Tight Lines

How do you access Windermere for fishing? Seems really hard to get bank access.

Well done m8 nothing piss me off more than finding trebles due to inferior tackle or knowledge. That pike would be a good 5lb bigger at least it had obviously struggled to digest food. Deffo earned my sub 🤙

Happened to me a few years ago ago.
Struck into a fish and when it ran the bush next to me started shaking about, I realised the fish was hooked already to a line tied or snagged in the bush.
Landed the fish, removed my trace, removed the other trace that was also fairly lightly hooked. Noticed another deep hooked cut trace and I had to pull the stomach to get that one out. Small section of lamprey still attached and the smell that came off it will stay with me forever.
Fish returned safely after a long rest.

@@paulwhite2458 well done mate. Can’t understand why anyone would think it’s a good idea to cut the trace 🤬

I use fully barbless now, holding the hooks in place with a few winds of bait elastic... it make it so much easier in the rare event of deep hooking (usually in Autumn when they inhale baits ) ...
I usually use a baitboat so I can drop free offerings with my deads so light hooking is fine... Jens Bursell in his book "Pike Fever" (my piking bible, HIGHLY recommended) uses sliding rigs which release the deadbait as soon as you get a bite as the bait is only in the way by then... 🤔
Deffo gonna get that titanium wire... 🤗

@ when searching you’ll see 2 types. A multistrand and single strand. Avoid the single strand it’s way to stiff for dead bait traces. 👍

I have seen many "pike anglers"who go fishing without being properly tooled up , just a forceps... they are usually the types to sit over a bite until the pike has almost shit the deadbait out... "bastards" indeed... 😕

No need whatever for using two hooks, and best to go in through the gills with smaller forceps
