    I love when resellers on UA-cam complain about it being a bad week or no money week and they sold like $5,000 and I’m over here like wtf… a $300 week would be great for me Lmao

      @BethanySeanAZ Рік тому +14

      Exactly. I agree with you, Kristen because I just now started doing this full-time because I enjoy it and I can list 1 million reasons why first of all all I’m gonna say is I worked for a healthcare company for 20 years and I just had to get out of there I had to quit and the thought of going back to that makes me wanna throw up so I want to do some thing that makes me feel passionate and I’ve never done anything like this but my operation is small right now I have about 475 listings so to me that’s small only because I listen to UA-camrs all the time who say they list at least 40 to 100 items a day and it’s only one person working or maybe a couple of people working and I’m like how do they do that I don’t understand how they do that sometimes I get help from my husband but you know he has a job but long story short I agree with you. I am happy to get one to three sales a day. Sometimes I’m happy just to get five sales a week and a lot of the times I don’t get a lot of money for the items I sell yet I’m assuming the longer I do this the more experience OK and I will learn how to find better items to sell for a higher sales rate but long story short I’m like wait a second you’re complaining about 5000 6000 a week and I am lucky to get maybe 100 maybe 200 and that’s probably in two weeks and I’m doing this full-time. I know it will get better but I have to be positive and keep learning and keep growing but for people who are complaining about 1000+ a week I’m like get over it lol oh my gosh

      @@BethanySeanAZ right! And I know everyone’s business model is different and everyone’s costs for the business is different so I just think it’s comical cause I’m like dang I’d love to be making $5,000 a week lol. But it will happen for us one day!! We just have to keep working hard

      How many listings do you have? $300 per week is easily attainable. It’s all about the research for sell thru rate/ratios, and not about what you think will sell or what is popular.

    We don’t rely on reselling for our income. It’s supplemental and has helped pay for things that we’ve wanted over the years. It’s been slower this year for a variety of reasons, illness, loss of a family member, lack of decent thrift finds, the economy…..all of it plays into lower sales for us. We aren’t panicking because we have lived through times like this before.

    I am getting closer to start reselling. I actually sold my 1st item locally last week. I want to be part-time. Next year I will retire after teaching for 40 years, so I will have my pensions. I have been watching a variety of resellers. I have seen a couple of very negative peeps. I think they burned out. It could happen to anyone in any job. Thanks for your positive reminder.

    EXCELLENT advice!!! I’m a part-time reseller and have been selling for a couple of years. I think it’s easy to get stuck in a rut and a tendency to blame a variety of factors for slow sales. The resell/retail market changes frequently. What was a hot seller 9 months ago may not be the case now. You have to be able to adjust/update your inventory, hone your sourcing skills, and have excellent customer service. This is a competitive market!!!

    I follow(ed) a FT reseller who's been selling for 20+ years. Loved their videos and learned a lot, but I noticed they made some horrible life decisions and then play the victim. When something happens, it's always another person's fault and never them. They make lots of excuses and repeat mistakes over and over again. It got to the point where I can't listen anymore - you want to scream at the screen and say "WHY are you doing this?" If they were talking about reselling, I could relate but I don't want to hear their personal problems.

During those down times, I review my listings to make sure that I'm pricing competitively. I sell a lot of cosmetics items and my goal is move them well ahesd of the expiration date. I'm learning to be more flexible. Sometimes my profits are low. Sometimes I lose money on the sale. Then there are times when I make good money on a sale. It just ebbs & flows.

    There are a few resellers who I been following for a few years that have been posting videos like "reselling is starting to sink" or "reselling is a nightmare now"...anytime I see these titles, I ignore them. If i start seeing a constant pattern, I unsubscribe from them. Any form of commerce has its ups and downs. I worked Walmart and heard of Sam Waltons story. At first he had a bunch of obstacles to overcome and hardships. But look at what he created...the greatest retail giant. Things will not always be peachy...thats with any job. Youll have good days and bad. I see my bad days as inspiration to improve. Also, sometimes look at your "bad" days compared to that same day a year ago. If your sales this day was better than a year ago...thats something to celebrate!! We got this!! Ignore negative energy from others.

      neat!.. i know it's risky but i have been successful burning (carefully and while wearing a mask!!) the plastic off of one side. watch it burn until you've created enough space to easiy see the spring mechanism inside. blow out the flame. at that point you can easily take a knife or any pokey object and pry the spring out and then the whole thing just falls apart. obviously use this as last resort option. Ive done this hundreds of times but i have burned a garment before--- but really only once maybe twice.

    Also, with those magnet sensors, sometimes you really have to SMACK it on there lol. Try putting the magnet on a table and then holding the black pin part, smack the sensor on the magnet and it should come off. Years of retail work has left me with this (usually) useless information lol

    I had one of those huge 20lb bundle on Posh too, reached out to them & they said I’d have to cancel the bundle & split it into two. I did what you did instead & it worked out fine.

    Hi just discovered your channel. I've been reselling for 23 years and there are definitely good times and bad times but there is a lot more good times. The key is consistency. Sales have been a little slow the last couple of weeks but my average sales price per item is up. I'm still listing and sourcing because sales will come back.

    Hi, Nikki. I’m not sure if anyone has commented on your sensor remover thingie yet. Just wanted to say, while checking out at the beauty supply the other day, I noticed the gentleman had a silver one just like yours. It was nailed down to the counter. He removed it really fast, but it looked like he pressed the sensor down on it and pulled the top off. I hope this helps.❤️❤️❤️

    Love this video. I try to instill this to my kids that its ok to be realistic but not negative. A negative mind never leads to a positive life even through our current struggles.

    I too have been selling part-time for many years. I’ve never experienced slow sales or summer slow down sales until this year. Hopefully it will get better. I’m sorry that the seller is experiencing difficulties. Sometimes it is necessary to have multiple sources of income. Maybe ride-share can help when sales are slower.

    Reselling on ebay is easy, is it work sure. Been doing it part time for 8 months now...what I have learned is, you will make mistakes on shipping, you will make mistakes on packaging at first, you will make mistakes on items you pic, so yes you will make mistakes. The one variable you can't change is where and what you are able to source thats been the huge factor. If you live in a good area with many yardsales and decent thrift stores you are ahead of the game. BUT if you live in a bad sourcing area, that's where you have to be creative. My thrift stores for the most part stink. My best money is in yardsales and estate sales run by the families themselves. So basically I have to drive further away and figure the fuel expense, but as a part timer it's like a hobby for my wife and myself. Sourcing that's the key, selling is the easy part...good luck.

    I'm sorry the seller you mentioned has hit a wall and is letting that seep into their channels but I also think it is valuable to hear from experienced sellers that you're not imagining it. Sales are slow for resellers but also for retailers. It could just be summer but it could also be a trend to watch. Retailers discounted in June rather than wait till after the 4th of July to move unsold summer merchandise and some of the largest retailers are not taking full orders for fall good from their vendors in anticipation of a slow season. I can't speak the exact person you referenced but not everyone who recognizes and acknowledges what is happening in the world is a whiner, loser or complainer. It is great that you are confident and savvy enough to think about your business more broadly and to share that, but there is no need to put others down to make your point.

    I use to work at Mattress Firm, and I would have weeks where I would do 4k and weeks where I would have 20k. Sales is a up and down market, you have to realize that and I believe if you are negative then your sales will show that! But great video! enjoyed it :) I just started reselling and I love it!!

    Honestly sometimes when we are feeling great, we can help others that are not feeling so great by giving them some encouragement or letting them know we are here for them if they need someone to talk to. Maybe she need some emotional support.

    There are a few Resellers I stopped following because of their attitudes. Some are too negative which makes me wonder why they keep doing it if they hate it and the others are too arrogant and one of them we ended up crashing hard because they weren't doing what they said they were and got caught.

    Thank you for this video!! 👏 you’re fabulous! I’ve been reselling for 8 months and have seen popular resellers talk about how they’re having really bad sales and it being the worst year to resell, things like that. It can be so discouraging since I just started and don’t have a baseline yet. I completely agree with you and I’ve stopped watching videos from a specific reseller because it was honesty making me anxious watching them talk about their sales in a high strung way. Their emotions are valid and I can’t imagine how stressed they are, but the content just wasn’t for me anymore. I’ve started to focus on resellers that are encouraging and sharing what they’re doing specifically to beat the summer slow down and decreased sales this year and they are killing it! That’s the kind of content that I’m here for. Thanks for your informative videos, I just found you and started binging yesterday 😂 Good luck to everyone on your sales!! 🎉

    New subscriber. I've been full time in the antiques and collectibles reselling business for 33 years, and have had a small channel for the past 4 years or so. I have friends who have been doing not quite as long, but some as long or longer, with some reselling non-vintage items as well. Most are not showing their journeys on social media, however. Our knowledge is expansive, and we all do share information amongst ourselves. Social media is not the end all be all of the information available out there, so there are many resellers who need to network with vets in the business, and not rely solely on social media for learning, and they should look beyond just major UA-cam (etc) channels for information, as some of the vets (I am a case in point) are not necessarily popular on social media, but have hard earned information they are making available on their channels. They may not be great at social media and online self promotion, but are stars as far as reselling goes. I see some reseller channels with major subscriptions levels, whose information they are present is less than stellar, not always very good and sometimes plain bad. Those supposed "resellers" are very good at social media and self promotion, but not necessarily great at reselling.

    Hi Nikki! Long time viewer, first time commenting (I think!) Love your videos and all the information you share. I just have to know how you get sooo much done?! I feel like you accomplish more in a day than I do all week!! It takes me forever to photograph clothing, I have the biggest death pile that has been growing for years! What is your secret?!

    • @BethanySeanAZ
      @BethanySeanAZ Рік тому

      Oh my God, I agree with you, Samantha👌 I have the same problem. I have a death piles that I need to steam or Iron and then take pictures get them posted to a draft and then I go back and keep taking pictures and keep making drives and then go back and do my descriptions but then you also have to do research on each item to make sure what to post the price as because I have realized after I’ve gotten burned that I’ve sold some thing that is actually really expensive and I wasn’t educated on the brand and I didn’t research properly so I have sold vintage Levi’s accidentally I have sold a book that is no longer in production and is highly sought after about Barbie dolls that is going for $300 online on various sites and my stupid booty puts it on Poshmark for $20 and it’s sold for $20 and my take out from that was only $16 to realize I could’ve made a profit of $100 or more so research on the item is seriously important and I’ve learned that over time the longer we do this the better we will get at it but there’s always the mistakes that I make and I feel like things take forever so I can’t wait to get way more efficient like Nikki and some of the other people out there who claim that they can post hundreds of items a day and it’s just one person working or two people working

    This is 100% why I'm not going to read fb reseller groups anymore because it's SO MUCH COMPLAINING about no or low sales and I'm like there's people killing it who know what they're doing and it's like there's so much of people complaining about their business when most of the time it's them making bad buys or not doing what they should to make sales. The negativity isn't motivating for me.

    I started selling on ebay in 2002 and I have always held a full-time job. I have seen it all from making a profit of $16K in a month in my early days when I sold designer goods to $1K a month. I am now retired and have plenty of money to live on but I still sell on a part-time basis. If someone only depends on making a living off of reselling, it is a full-time job with little time to take off.
