I honestly feel so lucky that I got to play Spyro as a kid. A lot of people my age didn't get to play it. But my older brothers got it for Christmas one year and since they played it, I played it. But growing up, none of my friends knew about this game or even the Spyro franchise. I'm so happy that my siblings played it, otherwise I probably wouldn't have been given the chance. It's such a fantastic and magical game, I would have really missed out!!
Anna Harkins my situation exactly! Our generation sure did miss out on these fantastic games but im glad some of us were lucky enough to experience them
Very similar to my situation. First PS1 game that my brother and I got on Christmas 1998. Paid careful attention to the credits to figure out who was doing the music (because I couldn’t check the internet for that information back in 1998). Was super surprised to find out this dude was drummer for The Police. I’ve always thought Invisible Sun by The Police sounded like a Copeland melody.
Year of the Dragon is special to me as it was the first game I ever owned (around 2001ish) but I thought that was it! 😖 Didn't know about the past 2 games until much later on.. Finally redeemed myself by playing them on the reignited trilogy, so glad I did.
I had it as a kid, but I hated it because I thought all you were supposed to do was "collect" the dragon statues. What an idiot I was 😂. Love the game now, of course.
Stewart Copeland, you genius. Good God, SOMEHOW I managed to forget how much of an absolute masterpiece the music in the original three Spyro games were.! Seriously I'm getting crazy nostalgic goosebumps listening to all these songs again.
This song still stucks in my head and I never forgot it even to this day. It sounds so magical and mysterious, kinda like a dream... Seeing all those islands floating in an alternate dimension full of magical creatures floating in the corners of space felt like the most magical and beautiful thing to me when I was a kid and I'll never forget this game and this music in my entire life.
This piece seems almost incomplete without those Gnorcs grunting when you flame their balloons and they start falling, and the noise of freeing the fairies from those wooden cages
+AntiFormKeyblade Me too. I get so lost in the games when I play them and get so distracted from reality. I wish those sort of peaceful worlds were real.
Playing through this level and hearing the music was truly one of the most magical moments I've ever had in my life. And I played this game when I was eighteen. :)
Stephen's YTP's I only grew up with "Spyro 3: Year of the Dragon", which was my favorite game as a kid, and I didn't get around to playing the other games until many years later.
***** Oh my God I'm the same. I grew up with Year of the Dragon. I remember having the Demo of Molten Crater with Fireworks Factories soundtrack, Seashell Shore with the Enchanted Towers Skate park soundtrack and Sunny Villa skate park with the Enchanted Towers Skate park soundtrack. I got the second game two years ago for Christmas and I want to own this one now. I recently did a full playthrough of it on my gameplay channel. but I'm still to actually own it on disc.
applepornography :D Sadly I have no idea what happened to mine. but I remember everything about it.I own the actual game now though so that's the main thing. Haha. but yeah I suppose I could still download the Demo online.
What sets this game's music apart from the other two was the similar theme in many of the songs. So cool how Copeland was able to differentiate the theme, but keep it the same theme nonetheless.
Brett Donaghue I have a preference for the first game's music and aesthetics, more atmospheric and mysterious than the more cartoony (and slightly saccharine) sequels. Some of the later games additions like improved move set for Spyro and other main characters like Hunter and Ripto were good, but for some reason I still love playing the first game more. I also think the first game had the best title theme, wish it stayed as the 'bootstrapped theme' for Spyro, like Warped's did for Crash Bandicoot.
***** I'll give credit, I liked the bosses in Ripto's Rage/Gateway To Glimmer a lot more (I can see why Ripto stuck around as main villain till the reboot). But otherwise I preferred the simpler more mystical first game. I wasn't much for all the NPC missions in every game after either.
+ToonReel001 I prefer spyro 2, even though spyro 3 was more enjoyable to play. The beautiful home worlds of summer forest and autumn plains made me wish I could actually transport myself there. And the peaceful music gave a sense of tranquility that the 1st and 3rd game never had.
Like you, this was my childhood. I don't get sad that this is over. I appreciate that I had this. It inspires me now. I am entering the game development profession to try to make more of these wonderful games. I hope that you are inspired by this for whatever you do in your life.
I actually like what they did to the sky boxes for Lofty Castle. Giving it a dream and nightmare crossover. with the light blue sky in the center surrounded by maroon, magenta colored clouds.
I’m on the opposite side of the spectrum, I prefer Lofty Castle’s Skybox to be it’s original color scheme like Magenta, Hot Pink, Red, Orange, Purple, and Blue and I prefer the bricks too be pink as well
@@kirillassasin strong disagree, I think it's the best use of supercharge in the game and it's super fun to use that to explore. I think it can be a pain if you just so happened to leave behind a gem or two somewhere but finding those last few is almost always a pain in Spyro levels so that's not a problem unique to Tree Tops specifically.
@@goldsmith8502 tree tops is horrible for these people who didn't assumpt that you had to run behind a bunny (not literally of course) on first minutes of level (so for me when I played it for the first time)

I however primarily stuck with Sony my whole life and have been basking in continued great Exclusives from Naughty Dog (Crash) & Insomniac Games (Spyro of course) everything is fine here at PlayStation Nation xD
I first played this game this year, when I was 23, but immediatly Lofty Castle theme and level felt so nostalgic! I just realized I was playing something really special that day
I grew up with this game. Today, Spyro inspires much of the architecture that I design and build. I was 7 years old in 2001, and this was my favorite game.
I have to admit that i am so glad they allowed the original soundtrack in the reignited trilogy. its just not the same without the OG music, it just isnt. i am so glad they did this and i am so glad i had many good memories of this game as a kid.
This is what a lot of games are missing these days, Music where it actually fits the theme of the level and that it gives you goosebumps every time you here it. I love this track! Every time I here it, it seems to get better and better. Love it!!!!

This game is so full of many unique levels that each world seems like its own game, making an entire series altogether. Also, each level has its own feeling to it. I always forget every level until I go back and play them again, and they each hit me with nostalgia.
