    Thank you Phil, for the video. I recently purchased a Samsung Q80T QLED TV with a Marantz SR7015 receiver. Both have HDMI 2.1 capability. I'm also using a high performance HDMI 2.1 cable to connect the receiver to the TV's eARC. I'm not a gamer, but do I need to make these adjustments in your video to get the highest quality broadcast TV and movie resolution on my TV?

    Hi Sound United, i have applied the HDMI adapter through my local dealer. I have 1 question, now without the adapter , why am I not able to get RGB colour space with the PS5 and AVH 3700 ? Is that due to the HDMI bug as well?
    Just an update i plug the hdmi to 8k port it is now showing RGB. How come Game HDMI port is limited to 422 chroma?

  • @Cblan1224
    @Cblan1224 3 роки тому +2

    Yea I figured this out a few days ago. I wonder if it will work when they do the firmware update for 8k(making it 40-48gbps as oppose to the current 32gbps).
    The ps5 doesn't have allm yet unfortunately, but it will, making it easier to switch between hdr formats while plugged in to the avr. (The only thing I watch that also has hdr10 is Amazon prime. I have an LG..so everything else is Dolby vision or SDR. So for now I am ok to forget...and leave it in game mode, or to remember, and switch to cinema home manually, then back to game mode when I'm done.)
    The LG CX does not have an info bar that will tell you its playing back at 120hz. However there is a little glitch that I first heard from Vincent at hdtvtest, where if you press the green button on the LG remote fairly obnoxiously, it brings up an info section in the corner of the screen. Giving you bit depth, real time refresh rates. If its locked or in vrr. If its freesync or regular vrr. Its pretty cool. Shouldn't be hidden. For the ps5 in 4k60 with hdmi 2.1 it will say the resolution, refresh rate, fixed, RGB 12B 4L8, meaning full rgb 12 bit and 4L8 is the hdmi information. Like Phil says, its traveling across 4 lanes. 4 lanes 8gbps equals the total current limit of 32gbps. After the 8k update, in sure the bandwidth will be increased and it will say 4L10, which is the maximum the tv or receiver can receive.
    As an owner, and an enthusiast, I really do appreciate this channel.
    Thanks Phil

    So if I have 3 4K player connected to my 2700h and my PS5 (to the 8K input) and I select ‘4K/8K Enhanced’ and then out of the Denon to my LG CX, will I get a picture from my 4K players that is ‘Normal’ or will I need to change it back to ‘enhanced’ ? As my E8 didn’t like ‘4K/8K Enhanced’ I know it’s because it is HDMI 2.0b, is that the only reason ?

    Phil just to clarify. I have all my equipment going into my marantz 7015. Only my ps5 and tv are hdmi 2.1...do I have to change it everytime I want to access 120 htz or can I do it once. As my other equipment is hdmi 2.0b don't want to change it everytime I want to play my ps5. Then wheni try and use my other 2.0b equipment have to change backwards and forwards. I see your video dates from a while, but I've got a question since I tried to set my devices up following your instructions: I've got a PS5, a Denon X4700H AVR and a LG OLED CX6 television. I think I set the PS5 up as I should (leaving almost everything to auto), the Denon is set to "8K Enhanced" on the PS5's input. But I can't seem to get the 4K120Hz working. Do you have any idea of what could be wrrong?
    All devices are up to date on the firmware side, cables are either AudioQuest HDMI 2.1 or the one sold with the PS5.

      On PS5 you have to do this in two separate areas to gain Dolby Atmos/DTS:X:
      From your system settings menu, scroll to sound. Set the sound to Bitstream Dolby. I've found that DTS:X also works in this mode.
      Put in a 4k movie. Go into the ps5 movie options menu, find sound settings, and set to Bitstream Dolby again.
      There is are videos out there that explain the differences, but I do not recall the details. I think Techno Dad had a nice video on that. Im sure there are others out there that can help explain. I could not get Atmos to work in movies or games without making the above changes.

    Hey Phil I’m using a Denon x4700h and following all your instructions step by step. The ps5 is listing the error under color format “ when displaying 4K HDR content at 60Hz , the color format will be YUV422 or YUV420 instead of RGB due to HDMI 2.0 transfer speed limitations. So then I unplugged ps5 from Denon and connected straight to my hdmi2.1 cable that runs to my LG ultra thin IQ OLED and low and behold it shows it at 120 FPS. What setting could I be missing in the Denon? I know it’s not the cable because I tried it with the same one I’m using for my 4K ultra Panasonic udp 9000 blu ray player. Your help would be much appreciated!!

    After 5 years, I'm back gaming, and I have some 1st world problems now.
    In the past, I never bothered about the best TVs and/or receivers, simply because even spending 200 euros for a TV for me was a miracle as I was dead broke; now fast forward 5 years I'm doing a little better than that and I just got a PS5 last week along with an LG CX; now the question is, as I'm completely clueless about these receivers, what would the advantage be in buying one of these as compared to sticking to current setup?
    Considering that I don't care about sound quality because I'd rather spend 1k on a pair of headphones before buying a soundbar or stuff like that, is there any sensible improvement in graphics, fps etc. while playing games online if I get one of these??

    • @davidneto6368
      @davidneto6368 3 роки тому

      This is only needed if you want to use a 5.1 setup. If you plan to use headphones, then no, this brings nothing. If you want to use 5.1 or 7.1 audio with your PS5, then you need an AVR to process the signal.
      Not even for the soundbar you don't plan to buy would you need to do this, so no, in your case, you don't need an AVR

      After they fix it, and start a recall on the avrs, I would imagine. I've heard around next summer. Although the timeline is speculation. The ps5 could very well develop the same issues the Xbox has once it brings its bandwidth up to 40-48 for "8k" support. Right now its running at 32gbps, so I'm curious if it will work when it reaches the same bandwidth as the Xbox.

    • @pcyopick
      @pcyopick 3 роки тому

      The Playstation 5 uses a Panasonic chip, as does the 2.1 receivers, so it works. The Xbox Series X uses another chip, so as of now you must plug your Xbox directly into your 2.1 compatible TV, then use EARC to send the sound to the receiver.
      As an added bonus, Sony's latest 2.1 TVs cannot use EARC when the XBox is set at 120 HTz.Either way you're stuck with 60 HTz for Xbox Seris X for now.

    • @Cblan1224

      @@pcyopick yea the ps5 sends an uncompressed signal to the denon which can only receive uncompressed signals (4k120a). Xbox uses compressed(4k120b). Denon and co. Really screwed up by not figuring this out. The AVR should be capable of receiving 4k120ab. Anyway, earc is great, in theory. In practice, its terrible and messes up everything it touches on certain TVs. I guess implementation is key. I had to go into another hdmi just so the tv would auto switch to arc. CEC is extremely frustrating when you have 4+ dedicated devices and are trying to get your tv to stop controlling everything and just act like the HDR format-switch that it should be.

    • @Cblan1224
      @Cblan1224 3 роки тому +2

      You can. Just without hdr or with higher subsampling. It adds more value than just for gaming. It can smooth out motion much better than a 60hz panel for movies. 24fps doesn't go into 60 evenly, sometimes resulting in poor performance if not compensated for by bringing the refresh rate down to 48. For 120, you have more even performance with less processing effort. All the major playback refresh rates go into 120 evenly, unlike 60. 24, 30, 60, and now 120 are the main ones. Most modern tvs do match frame rates to content now though. So I guess I'm just talking as if its still a decade ago. My fault, but what im saying does apply to some streaming content. 120hz panels have been a thing much longer than hdmi 2.1 has been.
      Plus, Samsung will do anything for a good marketing strategy. I'm sure they said this tv advertised it could do 4k120 on the box, only to find out it can't be in hdr while doing it and its subsampled to hell and back
