    Today we are taking a closer look at the recently release Denon S760H 7.2ch 75w AV Receiver. Like a lot of you out there watching this video, I was struggling for almost a year to find an affordable AVR solution that provided me with true HDMI 2.1 connectivity and next-generation features such as ALLM, VRR, QFT, 4K/120Hz, and more. The current market selection either failed to meet my gaming requirements due to poorly thought out or cheaply made/sourced HDMI 2.1 boards, lacked the number of ports I needed, stuck next generations behind an unreleased software update, or failed to meet their projected MSRP or release date.
    This all changed when Denon launched their S760H. The Denon S760H is a 7.2ch 75w AVR with arguably EVERYTHING the modern enthusiast needs, all while maintaining the lowest introductory price I've seen in the current history of HDMI 2.1 compliant AV Receivers. FOr under $500, the Denon S760H provides 3 full speed 40gbps HDMI ports, 3 18gbps HDMI 2.0 ports, 7 channel inputs including a remappable selection for Atmos Front/Front Height/Rear Surround/ETC, enough legacy ports to make any enthusiast happy, 4K/120Hz support, ALLM, VRR, QFT, and so much more. More specs to follow:
    - Powerful and discrete 7-channel amplifier delivers maximum performance and 75W per channel to provide the classic and dynamic Denon sound experience.
    - Advanced 8K HDMI video with eARC support
    Three 8K inputs and supports the latest HDMI specifications-8K/60Hz, select 4K/120Hz pass-through, VRR, Dolby Vision™, HDR10+, ALLM.
    - Full 3D audio support with virtual surround sound
    Enjoy immersive 3D audio with Dolby Atmos®, Dolby Atmos Height Virtualization Technology, DTS:X®, and DTS Virtual:X™.
    - Easy setup and operation
    Once you connect your TV to the AVR-S760H, the Denon Setup Assistant walks you through the setup, step by step.
    If you've been looking for an AVR with enough future-proofing to satisfy your needs while still leaving tons of money in your pocket, then I would pick this up IMMEDIATELY as I believe the market is only going to get more expensive moving forward!

      I wish! I can’t even consider buying it for a video and returning it (Which I’m totally against anyway after working years of retail) as I would pay insane duties and shipping to do so as this model is a Costco US exclusive. It sounds promising based on the specs and wattage.

    I've tried several receivers this year including Yamaha, Onkyo, and Pioneer. I went with this Denon because it did not have the audio lag after pause using ARC that the others did when the source was DD+. It was an incredibly annoying issue with all the others.

    The 8k/4k 120hz situation makes me recall the earlier days of hdmi. Had to wait quite a bit until receivers met our expectations. Looks like in 2022 Denon will finally have the full lineup the way it should have been in 2020.

      I remember trying to find an affordable 4K receiver when we were making the transition to ARC support from optical. This is no different, and I’m sure we’ll see more advancements run behind in the future.

    I never understood the advertised wattage of avrs. Why do they advertise the wattage in a 2.0 stereo when we need to know power in a 5 channel set up? How much lower is the wattage in a 5 channel set up? Is it cut in half or something crazy like that?

    Definitely going to pick this up this year. I've been renovating my basement as a theater room. Inwall speakers (5.1.2 configuration ) / dedicated circuits / ethernet / 2.1 hdmi cable that goes up to where my projector will be located.
    My projector is older (Benq W1070) only 1080p/60 but really wanted a receiver with 4k/120 so that I can upgrade at some point in the future when 4k/120 is more common for games.

    • @robinv1485
      @robinv1485 2 роки тому +1

      @@LarsonChristopher How weak are we talking about? I'm about to buy my first receiver for a 5.1.2 atmos setup (klipsch 600m fronts, r 34c central and a SVS SB2000 subwoofer to start, I'll add the ceiling and back ones after). The room isn't that big tbh so I don't need to have the volume super high, I currently have a Edifier S360DB 2.1 on the tv and it sounds fine in terms of volume. I was wondering if I should buy this cheaper one, or go for a denon x2700h or above. You seem to know your stuff.

    • @qwazyd0gg
      @qwazyd0gg  2 роки тому +1

      Honestly I find this more than enough for me, and tend not to take volume above 60% without the room beginning to feel uncomfortable. It drives my 7 speakers and dual subwoofer well; however, I also have a smaller room and 2 kids at home. If you’re looking for massive gains in volume, it might not hurt to go one step up, but don’t think this won’t drive your speakers you have cleanly because it certainly will.

    Great video. Ordered this AV last week. I recently bought an LG C1 OLED and its incompatible with my older 1.4 Yamaha receiver. I understand running an HDMI 2.1 cable from the eARC port on AV to eARC port on tv. Regarding my blu ray and Directv dvr...do I run the 2.1 cables from those devices to the 2.0 ports on the AV or to the LG tv? Thanks.

    • @qwazyd0gg
      @qwazyd0gg  2 роки тому +1

      You have options for sure. You can either choose to route your cables into the TV and eARC your audio down to the receiver, or you can use the ports on the back of the AV receiver itself. For regular hdmi signals your can use the 2.0 ports leaving the 2.1 ports free for future devices.

    * Update * - My speaker setup is changing, I am leaving my 8ohm Klipsch & going with a 4ohm Martinlogan Motion series setup at 5.2.2. I am worried that this S760H will not have enough power to comfortably power my new speaker array. What are your thoughts ?. The room is only 16x16 & I am using 2 powered subs and am looking into a cooling unit (receiver is in a well ventilated area already)......

    • @qwazyd0gg
      @qwazyd0gg  Рік тому

      I mean, you’ll get audio for sure… I’m just also unsure as you are as to whether or not this will drive sufficient power to get the most out of those speakers. Worst case is try them first and see how it works out. I would also anticipate some heat output if you’re driving it that hard. My unit has ok-ish ventilation and has successfully warped my shelf due to heat buildup and weight :(

I have an old onkyo so I think I’m going to get this demon model! My question is: I will have a 2.1 hdmi cable running from the ps5 to this denon. I would love a gaming AVR. I need a new one.
    BUT: I want a compact one. Not a massive one. Why is there not a 1U for factor for this? Like max 30 watts per channel, choice between 5.1 and 3.1.2 (I have a problem with placing speakers behind me, don't judge), just 2 hdmi in 1 out and 1 spdif, banana plugs. Maybe the incredible luxury of a single headphone with virtual surround, or not.

      Dual band 2.4 and 5Ghz wifi is present. Bluetooth I believe is 5.0 if I’m not mistaken, and when using eARC it can do full Bitstream Atmos in various surround profiles. Whenever I can get my hands on a PS5, I will be ready to go playing 4k 120, 4k UHD Blu rays etc... Such a great deal for under $450 USD. It supports Dolby vision I believe as well. It's not just Denon, most companies sourced their boards from one supplier and had problems. The HDMI board failures are more price point driven than brand driven. Onkyo has had the most problems. Sony ES and Anthem receivers have been very solid for a long time. Yamaha makes good receivers but the MusicCast firmware has had a bunch of problems this year and effects receivers, streamers, MusicCast amps, soundbars, self powered speakers, etc. but Yam's hardware is reliable, lol.

      It’s hard to calculate as different speakers output different wattage at different times depending on needs and content. The main issue is there will never be an update for that model unless they release a new physical redesign. Yamaha is offering board replacements starting this month for those who “need” the full hdmi 2.1 support but it requires you to send in the entire unit and with how many people bought that model in the last year, I would assume a board swap would take an exceptionally long time. Even at 75w, I can’t comfortably turn the volume up beyond 50% when gaming or 65% when consuming Atmos content without it being too loud. Onkyo remains trash. Stick with Denon/Marantz for the real deal.

      I always enjoyed my Onkyo receivers, but I have to say I’m really impressed with my Denon so far other than the CEC issues, but that appears to be less of a Denon issue and more of a “no defined standard and CEC is generally a mess” issue.

    This entry level receiver is mah at best...anyone who's serious about gaming knows it comes at a price and your AvR is gonna be the engine that drives EVERTHING. So you need to do yourself a favor and buy a MARANTZ and click the dislike button and do yourself a favor and subscribe to the "I sound like every other un boxing douch channel 😂.

    It's actually hdmi 2.3....bought this but since I'm not a gamer I went with a Yamaha Adventeg I prefer the sound and power capabilities of the Yamaha. The denon is great for beginners though or small rooms.

    Guys, FFS, this entry level price point gives up good amplification. A receiver's main job is amplification. BUT, you will never hear the amps
    'S limitations if you have speakers that are entry level. Step up to the 960 if you have decent speakers.

    • @qwazyd0gg
      @qwazyd0gg  2 роки тому

      It depends on what your needs are. For me, the 960 does not offer HDMI 2.1 VRR, ALLM, or 120Hz support, which is probably 80% of my decision behind changing from my Onkyo NR676 as I wanted to connect all my 120Hz devices and only had 1 available HDMI 2.1 port on my TV.

      Not yet; however, here in Canada they have I believe it’s the 1700x which seems like an upgraded variant of this receiver.

    Is there difference this one to the avr s960h.

    • @qwazyd0gg
      @qwazyd0gg  2 роки тому

      The s960h suffered from the hdmi 2.1 bug or incompatibility presented in 2020/2021 due to using the older hdmi 2.1 boards. It requires a patch box to function.

      Same concerns. To my knowledge Denon has released only 3 models currently with functional hdmi 2.1 that does not require a board replacement or additional external equipment.
