Years ago when I first started fishing many experienced fishermen advised me that Extra fast and Fast action tipped rods were the best for running plugs. For the simple fact that the fast action rods do not interfere with the action of the plug due to the plug only transfers movement to the tip of the rod. Where a moderate action rod the plug would transfer its motion over the entire length of that action, which would then effect the action of the plug. Pulling plugs or on anchor or backtrolling I prefer that action but Im always open to what works for others. Then I wouldnt have to pack so many different rods for each trip.
Anise crawfish is my favorite but sandshrimp gel and anise bloody tuna is always in my box alot of ppl over look bloody tuna for steelhead so it can be effective in pressured areas
that box of plugs at the beginning is worth aprox. $210.... That's more than my rod, reel, and all my tackle combined! If only I had that much dough to throw around.
7-9 ft FAST or ex-FAST action underline and underscore fast action an absolute must. Magnum taper kings only, the kokanee series is stellar for steelhead.
Never caught a steelhead, never even had a bite. My local river was good 15 years ago but now only gets 30 winter run back to the hatchery these past few years. A true shame how a fishery can collapse like this
Cool video but would like more bank or drift boat videos. More tributary fishing. Most the viewers dont have $40k+ boats. Walking plugs down a small river would be cool.
We will have lots more of those coming. We make videos for all anglers. Bank and Boat! Stay tuned for more bank and trib stuff to come. Thanks for watching!
The question I have would be…why such a long dropper? The reason I ask is, I anchor fish a lot with kwikfish in tide water and I was told to only use about 8” of dropper and not to use a slider. I was told that you want to be right on the bottom, would you agree with that? It has been very effective on fall chinook.
Should I even try to fish for steelhead this summer or just wait till the fishing picks up? I am asking because I haven’t even fished for steelhead yet and want to catch one on my first few times out
If your wanting to catch a fish the first couple times out go with a guide. ask questions and pay attention to gear and type of water your fishing. Steelheading isnt easy
You guys make awesome videos, keep it up. Due to a retarded amount of hours at my current job I can't get out on the water much, so I end up living vicariously through your videos, lol. Maybe for the future some walleye videos on the lower Columbia, guys have done quite a few on the upper Columbia but it's hard to find anything for below Bonneville. Again, keep up the good work.
Okay gentlemen, I've been searching through your videos and haven't found yet. And that is the river anchor/float set up, dropping, & pulling. I haven't been able to figure it out
K9x Dr. Death.....fished the same way, thank me later, especially if you’re up river where things aren’t so bright and all you need is a bite! Idaho ain’t getting this one!!!🍺 Cheers
I hate you, both of you! After watching this video last night a trip to Post Falls Cabela's was in order, A new okuma rod and okuma reel with braided "P" line. A hand full of various Yakama Mag Lips. I spent my whole allowance ($366.00) because of this video Thanks for the info.

Dale Jones I can’t afford a guide but I have some good friends that can probably get me on some fish.

You can tune the plugs that dont fish well just because a plug dont fish out of the package dosent mean you can it come now
True, but its always nice when it does fish right out of the box.
