DL is the goat to me, I’m 40 and grew up idolising this guy. His natural talent was insane, switch top acids and royals on chest high ledges when he was a kid.
My daughter was watching with me and asked for a new pair of skates for her birthday. She normally doesn’t pay any mind to skate videos but she really liked DL. Even after all these years, he’s got that staying power.
Amazing doc of an icon. British viewer here, 42 years old. Amazing how connected we were through passion, in an age before internet..... Love the music in the final 5 mins... Thanks for putting this together 🙏🏻 merry Christmas Thanks Dustin for always pushing, he will not know what an inspiration he was (is) for me and my entire skate fam.
Wow, this compilation is an absolute treasure trove! As a huge fan of Dustin Latimer, I've always admired his skill and innovation. Seeing these rare, unseen moments feels like unearthing hidden gems from skating history. Major kudos to the channel for sharing this incredible footage-it's a heartfelt trip down memory lane and a testament to Latimer's lasting impact on the sport.🙌🙌💯💯
I remember telling the mushblading guys about this young DL footage floating around UA-cam awhile back. This is awesome. Seeing what he was doing in 92-94 is absolutely mind blowing.
Absolutely. It's crazy how many people hadn't seen it. Looking back, the cover art wasn't very good and I think we did a subpar job marketing it through Rat Tail.
I was expecting something else, but still a huge thanks to you Jan for sharing this. Him and Shane are the one of the biggest masterminds and architects of our sport, I hope one day they will change their minds and give a big lengthy podcast either separately or together.
One of The G.O.A.T. 💞🙏🏽MUCH LOVE & RESPECT. I still have some MiNDGAME Clothing. Thank You for ALL that you did for the CULTURE. Cool to see your FAM have your Back throughout your Journey.
very cool to watch! Best skating and style some parts ive seen and some were new, thanks for the Upload! thanks DL for the dedication and pushing rolling into the right direction a true Master of Rolling
this is awesome to see some light shed on Dustin. Was one of the best , if not the best in the sport. Style was definitely unmatched. Edit: the ending was so good!
I have watched some crazy skating vids during the mid/late 90's but when I saw DL I said, deyyymm that style, all I want was the DL throne back in the day.
Thanks so much for sharing Jan. I’ve always wondered what his parents thought about or how proud they might have been of his later career after being so pivotal with their support at the beginning. Being as he went on to achieve so much in skating. Amazing stuff
Thanks for posting this. One of the best to ever lace up some inlines for sure. I just was stunned at the last text sections about life and journey and inspiring others through rolling. For all the influence he had I feel bad he still isn't active in the industry like Jon or Billy but yeah life is strange like that. P.S. Jan I'm still waiting on the remastered Leading The Blind full movie hint, hint 😉
That was my first thought too! Like soul 450 frontside? Wtf! In 1996 with like 4 years on skates hahaha that’s insane. Also his early ramp skills are incredible
Thanks Jan for posting this! Awesome to see Dustins journey and the work, support and passion that went onto create the "God of street" that was the DL of USD, Mindgame era. Shows just how good he was at park skating as well. His clips from the England Tour are super sick! One of the best to ever do it, style wise especially. This documentary shows his skating was both well ahead of his time and timeless 🙌
First of all, thanks to all of THEM who have invested they're precious lives into this crazy thing we call "rollerblading", I'm lucky and blessed to roll beside you, and wherever you are on the planet I can call you brother, I could call you sister, I can call you family, for that, thank you 🙏🏽❤️. Second, though not i relevance, thank you DUSTIN LATIMER! You've inspired me, and an entire generation, plus those who will come to strap a pair of skates under their feet, forever. "The Bails section" 11:16 moved me to tears, I saw myself, for the best part of three decades falling and getting up, on skates and in life, and just for that I am so grateful again, for being a Blader ☠️☠️☠️☠️🔪🔪🔪🔪 And thank you Jan welch 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽 this is Cannon in our Sport.
Tank u for this video I appreciate the video it’s amazing growing up an see ur favorite skater killing it in ever single trick but Az u age all u can see is in ur mind whit ur eyes closed how much u did an done for this sport
Dustin then is still MUCH better than the average blader today. I cant do 1/18th of what he did here in the 90s. Kinda makes me wanna quit. Ill practice more.
While I totally get that, comparison is the thief of joy. I think the main thing to take away from this doc is the enthusiasm Dustin had as a kid and then even as a father skating with his kids. It sounds cliché, but that's truly what skating is about -- not whether you can do this trick or that trick. This was one of the most heartwarming pieces of blading content I've seen. Loved seeing the support his family gave him at a young age. Thanks for sharing, Jan!
@@Rollerbalder I still get out and have fun. It just blows my mind grinding since like 96-97 and I still have like no backside grind skill. On soaps... BS is how I grind far. On skates... I hate how bs grinds feel.
Jan, I have an idea for a video that I would love to see you cover! As someone who only started getting into skating in the early 00’s, I missed out on the most groundbreaking and genre-defining moments that inspired all of the pros I looked up to. I would love a video (or multiple) that highlights and discusses some of the earliest/most influential aggressive inline videos, parts, spots, lines, etc. The ones that got passed around the most, talked about the most, and broke open what could be done with the sport. And I feel like you would be the best person to make that happen!
Not sure if it's because of the music (particularly the first song), but I literally had tears in my eyes. Good old times. Only bladers will understand.
That was such a cool insight and as always very well put together what a pair of legends you both are in skating made my day that little bit better appreciate it much love ❤✌️
I have so many questions. Hopefully one day we’ll get to hear the story or thought process of the obvious transition of life styles. The destroying of the accord, what it meant what it meant to him. Why it meant to him and the symbolism behind it. I always heard the tales of an accident that shifted things to a more spiritual persona (for a lack of a better term). Whether any of it is true or not. Either way this guy shaped mine and many others adolescent lives.
Latimer is the goat for so many reasons. It's style that can't even be fully understood. I hate to be that guy. But blading won't see another like him. He wrote the book. Everything else is an extension of what he helped build. Or single handedly built. Honestly anytime someone does a butter true soyale it's just a road paved by DL. And not to mention I consider his fastslide in BFG to be the 1st real one. Guy just broke the dam open. A river of style and innovation. Sorry to worship. But he's a god.
Indeed but I had nothing to do with the creation of this and I filmed none of it. This was all created by Dustin himself. We did produce and distribute it through rat tail.

I sure did!
Not gonna lie - brought a tear to my eye. The nostalgia is real!
The support from his family was beautiful to witness
Absolutely! Shout out to all the cool moms n dads who encouraged this behaviour ❤❤
I started skating around the same time as Dustin. I was pretty good but man you can see the talent in him from even the early days. Amazing
