I'm South Korean and most of the makeup here is like this. We usually go for nude and no one really uses heavy make up. You can look at Korean girl idols and see a lot of them go for natural beauty look. Metallic shades act as more of a highlighter or used under the eye. Nude shades are better since Etude House is used to making nude shades more than crazy shades like you're used to. Also we don't use brushes for eye shadow we mostly use sponges or apply it with the finger. Honestly glad to see a foreigner's perspective on our normal makeup products. Etude House is the epitome of Korean makeup, every single one of my makeup products are from there. You were very respectful and understanding as always. Love ya Jeffree✨
In Korea they have very soft and light makeup. So when the red was sheer it was a very soft look that it was supposed to give. Since Korea they are really big on a natural and soft look.
I think that's why I'm never into Jeffree's eyeshadow looks. They're too glam. I like natural, softer looks and adore Asian makeup, like Korean specifically, and Japanese.
So, as someone who has been loving South Korea for 10 years, I've tried A LOT of Korean makeup/skincare... And Etude House is one of my favorite brands in the entire world. Now, the reason why the browns worked great and not the reds is simply because if a Korean woman goes out with a full-on red eye look, everyone and I mean EVERYONE, will stare at her. They are really supposed to be just a wash of colour. The shade you put on your inner corner seems to me what Koreans would apply on their lower lash line, what they called the "aegyo sal" which again, is supposed to be very very sheer. And I can't stress the world sheer enough here. It really is supposed to be like that. Anyway, I appreciate you talking about a Korean product. Like you said, Korean makeup is really different but once you understand it and get the hang of it, you'll love it. Thank you for your hard work Jeffree. You're amazing and you deserve the best in the world. Love ya 💕
But even if they’re subtle and sheer a lot of k beauty brands have really great shimmer/glitter shadows so I don’t understand why the shimmers were bad
Korean girl here! Usually in Korea, we blend colors together to create a subtle gradient, really sticking to natural neutrals, not pops of color or bold eyelooks with strong contrast. That being said, eyeshadows aren't meant to be packed on top of each other like American makeup. The shimmers and the red were probably formulated to give a wash/hint of color so that Koreans who will buy this and do Korean style makeup won't "flop" due to there being too much pigment (in our standards). I understand that they don't meet US standards of eyeshadow and you obviously don't need to buy it if sheer, natural eyeshadows aren't for you, but I just wanted to explain why certain colors weren't working as well as the browns.
right? I could tell it would be great for Korean style makeup, so hearing him say the palette was a flop was frustrating. The review was really American-centric but that was expected.
@@n4cll "the review was American centric" well he is American and it was different from American standards in make up, which was his opinion, it's his review. Don't tell me Koreans wouldn't have said the same about American make up. If he didn't think it was to his standards, then that's what it is.
n4cll I think people who are into Korean style makeup could still tell it’d be cute for them from this review, so all good. It just isn’t approved for the kind of bold make up style you’d expect on Jeffree’s channel.
Hi Jeffree im a korean cosmetic lover, and their products do work better with fingers not with fluffy brushes. But If you prefer using brushes, spongy ones are the best. Love you from korea and thanks for reviewing Korean products!!
A lot of k-beauty products need to be applied with fingers or sponge applicators for actual pigment. Most of shimmer/metallic shades actually go under the eye on the lower lid to act like a highlighter, giving the eyes a more puffy/cute look, too. It’s not that uncommon for darker shades like the brows in k-beauty to be more blend-able/pigmented since those are usually supposed to be the main focal points of looks, while actual colors, like pinks, reds, etc, are usually gonna be more washes of colors for accents. K-Beauty is generally pretty hit or miss and it all depends on personal preference. If you like more natural/barely noticeable makeup, you’d probably love a lot of K-beauty stuff! But for someone like Jeffree who loves big bold looks and lots of pigments, it isn’t surprising that he didn’t /love/ the pallets ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Exactly! But I dont think he got the memo:( atleast Edward Avila reviewed the red kit kat:^) but I really wanted to see a clear review on the pink one:(
Actually, I find that it depends on how you lay your base. If you don't set your primer, you can get much more pigment out of Korean eyeshadow. The shimmers depend from brand to brand, but Etude House has a good singles range. Etude House's big palettes tend to be much better than their smaller ones, though.
little note: Koreans tend to use their fingers a lot when it comes to applying eyeshadow (especially when packing on the lid) also, the metallics are commonly applied on the bottom lid (usually with their fingers), not the inner corner while the browns/mate colors are used as liners. They also tend to go for natural and younger-looking makeup styles rather than a full glam. What I'm trying to say is that Koreans apply their makeup differently compared to western makeup styles, thus the priorities of their makeup formulas. Regardless, I do agree that the shadows are definitely not as pigmented.
Yeah tru tho. I see another beauty youtuber and she use the same pan and the eyes look so pretty. And the red also kinda more pigmented. I forgot the youtuber, maybe after this im gonna search her again
I have noticed etude does pretty good about coming through on pigments. Obviously not what we are used to over here but definitely better then most Korean brands/products!
all Korean products are soft and lightly pigmented. Koreans prefer lighter looks, and they don’t really go for the heavy and bold style that Americans like
Loving how Jeffree listened to the people tweeting at him that Korean makeup is different than American and more sheer. Still not what I've seen even for Korean makeup vids but the packaging is so cute!
Coming from a Korean myself, I always get sO nervous when beautubers review Korean/Asian makeup products only because I KNOW that Asian makeup is much much muccch more toned down than Western/American makeup. When he first said "Korean" I felt my stomach drop because I already saw what might come. It's like highlighters vs sharpies. Both each have their purpose, preferences, and their place of course, but yenno what I mean?
This is just my opinion because to each their own, but I said I got nervous because Western beautubers might not understand that makeup in Asian regions, including Korea, can be notably cute novelty/junk or can be quality along with it being cute, but sheer on purpose. The good stuff that does have quality is *still* normally more sheer on purpose for it caters toward the Asian demographic by no surprise. I get what you might mean by 'junk' because Asian cosmetic brands like to produce very cute collections on purpose for sales while the quality might not be the best at all. Korean/Asian skincare is more famous and shown/reviewed jn a way brighter light (opposed to the makeup) by Wester beautubers because like you said, it really is "off the charts" I agree.
@@vubzs I mean, I would say yes because I would buy it and I think it's a pretty standard palette. I like subtle formula and size of the palette, plus it's also cute and good for everyday. I can't speak for all Koreans though.
Agreed, but at least he did mention that Korean shades are often less intense. I would like to see him try some Korean or Japanese foundations (not BB creams). I always found them to be too much for me, but great for people who like a full coverage look. A lot of the eyeliners are amazing and extremely waterproof, so those might be neat to see, too.
I would be interested in watching you try to follow a Korean makeup tutorial with all Korean makeup. It would be so different from what you usually do.
I’ve used a lot of Kylie’s products ranging from liquid lip, highlight, blush to eye shadow and they are all shit quality. Just repackaged colourpop, isn’t worth the price tag.
Shimmer eyeshadows from Korean brands are very sheer that they usually use it as a “topper” instead of a full on eyelid color. So it is pretty normal if they aren’t that pigmented and shimmery because they are made that way to cater to the tastes and preferences of Korean consumers. Most Korean women just like a wash of color on their lids not heavy pigmented eye looks that western people really like.
Not all western people go for thick eyeshadow. You will in fact not see that a lot out on the streets. But there has to be something there...I mean you pay for a shade, you want to see something. Some of those kitkat colours weren't there at all. Not even a little wash.
Sandra Vermeulen Etude House is a brand where their eyeshadows are pretty much a hit or a miss. They have some really good ones (most of them are darker shades). As for the shimmery ones, they are okay and work better when fingertips are used for application but still not as foiled and glittery as most palettes/singles from American brands. 3CE is also a Korean brand that makes pretty good eyeshadows.
I have another pallete from Etude House and the reds look worse than the browns or even the purples... and I loooove Etude House and soft makeup but... yeah, not soooo nice, but cute
actually etude house is a brand aimed towards the teenage public, like school kids, so that's why they have those kind of cute stuff, and also are always like sheer, and soft and natural
Mylena A. So in korea students aren’t supposed to wear makeup so students like to buy natural and small makeup pallets. I remember my friends would start with a blank face at the beginning of the day but by the end of the day they have a full face.
also dramatic makeup isnt as popular in korea (and in asia in general) as it is in the west; natural sheer makeup is always favored, so most makeup brands don't provide bright neon colors like many western brands do.
He’s very new to Korean makeup, their makeup isn’t very pigmented they want it too look like they are not wearing any makeup, I’ve seen a review from a Korean youtuber and he said it was really good Oof didn’t expect to get this many likes and comments xD thank you 🙏 Oma god 731 wow thanks likes mmmmmmm wow
Lorelei Hess hmmm I never knew that! Thanks for the info , interesting :) I didn’t know that they made their makeup softer on purpose to look more natural.
it's better than other palette from etude house but not as good as the single eyeshadow from etude house. it's always happen to etude house's palettes apparently, even korean beauty gurus don't really like etude house's palette in the past
@@naayaa_samara9479 well there are a lot out there but from what I remember that doesn't really like etude house's palette in the past is daisy and edward avilla. I think they still prefer the single ones
Not too surprising since Korean make up is generally made to give you a natural and soft look so the colors aren’t really vibrant and pigmented. They have really perfected the no makeup makeup look. I’m so down for that candy though!
The reason why the brown shades worked out much better is that in South Korea you use the brown shades of eyeshadows to do a soft eyeliner. They either do their eyeliner with brown eyeshadow, with a brown pencil or with a waterbased brown brush eyeliner. That's why it's a little more pigmented than the other shades. The light metallic ones are there to only highlight the "aegyo-sal" a little, which was always and still is very popular to highlight the eyebags to appear younger.
South Koreans really enjoy nude and brown eyeshadows. If you ever look at female or even male kpop idols eye makeup there is always brown or warm colors and some shimmer mostly for the inner corners of the eyes. Which made sense for me why the Browns came out bomb asf. They definitely love sparkles in their eye makeups, but this palette was not it for the shimmer shades Lmaoo.
As a korean I will agree because my family uses a lot of brown and neutral makeup And I even use neutral colors! even through I’m half korean I still can relate
OKay so I actually have the original KitKat palette(the red one lol) with me rn so I'll try to translate the names real quick. (Disclamer: my english is not the best sooooo yeah) Left to right 1.Sweet Vanilla Chocolate, 2.Soft Milk Chocolate, 3.Crunchy Sweet Flavor, 4.Original Chocolate Brown, 5.Thinly Crushed Biscuit, 6.You're my KitKat
Thank you so much for the translate. I was kind of bummed that we didn't know the names of the shades even know it really doesn't matter but because we didn't have them it seems to matter more. lol. anyways thanks Again. Also, you're English is amazing.✌
Jeffree, thank you so much for your review! I totally knew that it wouldn't be the best palette for you, because it isn't so pigmented as the Western makeup palettes. So I want to give you some real K Beauty recommendations with real good quality. Hope that you are interested in these and test them out! 1. Clio - Prism air shadow :known for REALLY pigmented glitter eyeshadows, so I realllly recommend this one (single eyeshadows!) 2. Espoir - Be silk foundation :This is one of the most famous and popular foundation in Korea at the moment, with matte silky finish 3. Peripera - Ink black mascara :This is known for a very long lasting mascara, lasting the curls of the eyelashes that you curled before applying the mascara. But it might not be as volumizing as American mascaras 4. Too cool for school - Art by Rodin countour :This is the best contour in Korea, known for the best color choice for contouring and good formula. But just know that Koreans do not 'bronze' their face, so they go for natural shading color 5. Bbia - Last velvet lip tint :It has liquid lipstick like formula, and has really cute colors from all ranges of personal tones/colors (this is a thing in korea as well, you should definitely check what 'personal color' is, which consists of spring warm, fall warm, summer cool, winter cool tones and more specified tones that matches your natural skin tone and best colors for you!) 6. Clio -Rouge heel velvet lipstick :Clio is just one of the best brands with great quality of makeup products. This is matte lipstick and I think it has around 20 colors 7.3ce - Eye switch :This is a glitter eyeliner. But it is not actually used as an eyeliner, but koreans apply this under their eyes for a cute plumped eye bag effect or to look like tears with that glitter. It's really prettyyyy Hope you read this comment and actually try out some of these products! And thank you for the review as well~
As soon as he said "Etude House" I was like "Ohh, he's not gonna like it." XD Korean makeup tends to be about subtlety and very natural looks, at least from my experience.
True! Most of the time they wear make-up but say they don't, just because there's a certain stigma or shame around it. That's why they like the natural look.
@megan kim When you say " that much" it already says enough. I'm half and lived in both the NL and Korea. Maybe it's the lack of having something to compare it to, for you. But there IS a certain shame around wearing it. Often time a girl/woman won't even say they are wearing make-up, when they clearly are xD
Akitsukami korea is the leading country when it comes to cosmetics and skincare. There’s makeup shops every corner in every street and you’re here claiming that koreans have bad impressions on makeup. Do your research. 진짜 어이가없다..
I never noticed your lips before being 'botched" or weird in any kind of way but now that I see your NEW & IMPROVED lips . They look amazing! So much better imo IFFFFF you do anything else to them (which I think they're perfect already) please don't do much BC they're fabulous!

Sometimes when people review Korean makeup they always say there’s no bold colors and stuff but the thing is is that Korean makeup is more natural. Not that I’m saying that Jeffree said that but I’m sooo glad he didn’t say that. When I see other UA-camrs review Korean make up they always say “THERES NO PIGMENT AND BOLD COLOR” I get so triggered. Thank you jeffree for NOT triggering me. Thank you! 😊
Shay I have that pallet o.o..if he would have applied the red/shadows in general with his finger like how they’re meant to be applied with it would have been way wayy more pigmented. especially the red one.
Korean eyeshadows have always been quite sheer especially because Koreans tend to aim for a natural no makeup type looks and I have noticed that for this pallet they did have more pigmentation than usual which is something you would usually not see. In addition to the shimmers I actually expected the sheerness since Korean women tend to have a little to no eye makeup with very little shimmer in comparison to American makeup that the shimmery eyeshadows that are meant to stand out and catch attention. I would suggest that if you did want a little more of the glitter it’s better to use your finger to apply it. I have noticed that in the shimmers they add actual glitter which I feel would explain why its a little chunky. I hope this kind of helped.
I totally agree with you. Korean style of make is very different from western make up, which explains the sheer eyeshadows. I wish more western youtubers took this into consideration when reviewing products.
I absolutely LIVE for those straws and the fact that you're releasing them to bring awareness to the plastic issue. ❤️❤️❤️ PS: your smile is gorgeous 😘
No matter how you try and clean those straws there will always be spots of bacteria inside them . The ones that ended up in the belly of a Whale or Dolphin worked better .
Yes! I also love that all of his products are vegan and cruelty free so that everyone can use them. I can't believe that Kat Von D judged him for that, saying it's ridiculous because Jeffree isn't vegan himself. I'm vegan and of course I wish everyone was, but I'm not going to hate on someone for creating a high-quality, cruelty free, vegan makeup line just because the creator isn't vegan themselves. That's ridiculous and people like her are the reason that vegans are stereotyped as thinking they're better than everyone. Sorry I went off on a tangent there! 😂
Zesif You don’t want to beg for followers hon, if you want subscribers, you only want the ones that genuinely like the content on your channel. Please do not guilt people into subscribing to you, because that’s not going to help at all.
I'm Korean but I love a full glam. Also Korea is very minimalistic with the makeup so a lot of it is just pocket sized. And please try Tony Moly one day.
Since you're doing the no plastic straws thing, you should make custom jeffree star travel eating utensils to replace plastic one-use forks and spoons, cloth bags for grocery shopping and other uses, biodegradable toothbrushes, reusable travel coffee cups (I forgot what they're called), fair trade organic clothing. You've pretty much conquered the beauty/cosmetic side of things, it would be cool to see your logo on sustainable items that can reduce plastic usage, and get people hyped up about living more eco-friendly. I'd also think everyone would buy any skincare products you put out. You really do care about quality, and it shows so much. 🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤
Adelaide Banks 10+ years ago he got botched with a mixture of silicone and something else. Your body doesn’t dissolve silicone like others fillers so the silicone is permanent. And the silicone gathered around the bottom part of his upper lip so he got that removed surgically.
Loool I’m not even surprised that some of the colours didn’t work. Most of Asian cosmetics are really light. And hardly have any pigment. Asian products is all about getting the most natural look. Since that seems to be the preferred make up look.
As an Asian I go for the natural look cause 1. Quite a lot of us Asian, do have oily skin / dry skin problems. 2. The weather here is OMG, fluctuates 24/7 So heavy makeup is really a bit uncomfortable, but there are still Asians that rocks that look 😹 So really preference :P
Don't mistake him as caring about the environment. He just used the plastic problem to make money and to address other target groups. I mean, he literally announced these straws in a video that is all about Nestlé. And I think everyone knows how destructive this company is 🤷🏼♀️
Zesif ummm no shade but you come on here to ask that is a whole different subject there talking about the video and you bring that up 😑😑 like I’ll help but....for real though 😑😑
Korean make up is sheer because they aren’t allowed to use much ingredients because the government wants to be sustainable and healthy 🙈 I hope you can understand what I am meaning because my English isn’t the best ... I’m from Germany 😊
Asian culture focuses on skin tone colors, anything other than that, not so much. It was no big surprise for me that only the browns and and skin toned colors worked and the others flopped.
Yep, they probably don't have a lot of pigmentation because saturated/bright eye looks are not really fashionable in korea, they definitely wear a lot more subdued eye makeup. I don't think I saw one person with "instagram" styled bright makeup in Korea, usually very sheer nude/orangey tones with a lip tint and natural/dewy skin.
This isn’t surprising because it’s Korean and intended for Koreans. They are known for light and soft natural look. Strong pigment eye make up is typically not suited for Asians. So I think it’s pretty standard for them but not Jeffree Star’s type. Jeffree’s cosmetics is known for loud and strong pigmentations. To each and their own I guess. Cute packaging I agree.
Omg !!!!!!!! ETUDE HOUSE !!!!!!!! 💕💕💕! If you look at that brand of cosmetics, you will find their packaging really cute. Or something princess-like. 👸🏻👸🏻👸🏻🌸💄 And If you look for other Korean cosmetics brands, you can see freaking many cute things like Disney packages and Coca-Cola packages ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ you'll love them
adeline wurzer could have rephrase it better, for example: I don’t like Kbeauty because it’s not my style etc instead of being fucking rude. You can disagree without being downright rude.
So... Here is one of the deals with Korean makeup, especially Etude House. A lot of them target the young age girls, students. First they're not allowed to use a lot of makeup but the main key with Etude House eyeshadow is that for those young ladies they usually use their finger to apply eyeshadow, so those formulas are meant to works better laid with the fingers.
JEFFREE ! you and Nate should do a segment of trying candy and snacks from other countries! but like get really stoned first. And maybe just a second idea, try them again when your sober to see if your opinion changed??? I would love to see that!!!
When I saw this. I knew it won't be jefree star approved. Why? Well k-style makeup is minimalistic and is focused on a fresher and natural look hence the nature of most their makeup. Also.... I LOVE etude house but I'll be the first to admit that their eyeshadows are hits and misses plus when I sweat, they come off so easily even with primer. I'd stick with their skin care, skin blur, lippies, masks and play 101 eye pencils and liners. But... I love this video! I was freaking out when I saw the etude house logo. Lolz!
I LIVE for Etude House. So many of my holy grails come from them. Their brow pencil, Double Lasting Serum Foundation, Liquid Face Blur, Dear Darling tints, and even that newer Caffine Holic palette I reach for constantly. But their eyeshadows are just kinda okay with a few exceptions. I wish more of the bigger western names would review Etude House more as opposed to just people who focus on K-Beauty.
Yeah all my skincare is korean because their products arent harsh on my skin unlike many others I've tried. But i honestly hate most their makeup especially their light eyeshadows bc I love me some pigment 😂😂.
“Y’all know cheap packaging.” Did Jeffree just call us poor eye- -💀 Edit: This was just a joke guys, I know he was referring to us knowing the difference between quality and cheap products.😂
Yesssss... All the while I was waiting for him to use his finger so that we all can see on how the shadows work with different techniques since he already did the wet/dry brush applications.
So it’s lowkey bothering me that a story is being done on how Kylie is a self made person. Jeffree fucking Star is a self made person. I really hope everyone realizes that. I don’t believe not a single person could be where he’s at today after going through what all he’s went through. Most of us wouldn’t be able to handle or make it. He also came out virtually unscathed and still smiling. He’s my idol.
a-fucking men. I've been there since the myspace days, although I was like, 13, I still understood what was going on in his life then and I never even imagined he would rise to be one of the most successful makeup artists in the world. He deserves it 10 fold man.
I think the reason why the red is like that is because in Korea the “strong” colors (red, blue, green, etc.) they always make it in the way that it looks faded; at least that’s how I’ve seen them wear makeup. Let me know if I’m wrong
Dark Rose, most bold colors aren’t pigmented but when you see the browns he tried they show up a lot better, from what I’ve experienced, brown and nude colors are more popular. But I’d agree with what you’re saying.
Yes I agree. Some EH eyeshadows I've tried are sheer colored, from what I see, korean make up is more natural, doe looking eye makeup which is I like but I won't do it with korean make up brand. maybe if jeffree want some more pigmented korean brand eyeshadow I suggest with 3CE
If you want a more heavy look, don't set your eye primer with Korean shadows. It makes them really nice and dark, which is why I usually don't set my lid, only the area just above.
Korean makeup is heavily focused on matte natural tones (like all the browns in the palette) and for the every day Korean make up wearer, they would not typically reach for those red pink tone colours. I do think if your launching a product have consistency but I mean I get it for the every day consumer in Korea.🤷🏻♀️
Korean makeup definitely doesn't aim for bold colours and tons of blending and sculpting. They aim to have a very delicate and extremely natural look. It would be soooooooo cool for Jeffree & maybe Lipstick Nick to team up with a Korean makeup artist or Korean Makeup Retailer and talk about the differences in style between Korean and American makeup. For example discuss what the aims of each product would be and what sells and doesn't sell etc. I really enjoyed watching this video, Jeffree is always willing to talk about brands and trends that I don't see on many other channels.
Bij andme I understand where you are coming from but Korean makeup majority of the time is aimed for Koreans and Koreans like to wear a lot of natural makeup and they focus the eyeshadow mostly on the lids where as American like bold and deep colorful colors and focus the eyeshadow all through the eye both types of makeups are beautiful but I don't think if Jeffery does team up with a Korean brand it would sell a lot in America but not quite sure in Korea since they like natural tones and there eye shadows are not as pigmented as jeffereys makeup
Korean Make up is more natural because Korea has a vey very high beauty standard. But Jeffree doesn’t have many natural looks. I’m Korean myself but I’m a Korean American. But I don’t use much make up. But What I’m gonna say may piss you off. I think it would be a harder collaboration, they wouldn’t have brighter popping colors. Jeffree has a more colorful and eye popping colors, Korean Beauty and him communicating would be hard.
Yeah, I mean the browns are supposed to be pretty pigmented to create shadows and dimension, and the reds/pinks/colorful shades in general are supposed to just add the slightest bit of color to the looks ^^
@@ashcashcarter if you look at the idols you will see how they expect their makeup to work... Based on that these palettes did EXACTLY what they are supposed to
hey I'm from South Korea and I just wanted to say that I really liked the review and even though it wasn't 100% positive I love that he was very honest and that at least he didn't kiss ass. Makeup's just different here and it could definitely be weird to other people. The main reason I'm writing this comment is because Etude is mainly for teens especially girls in middle school because it is so affordable and maybe not the best quality. There's a lot of makeup here and Etude really doesn't represent all of it so I would love it if you could review different products from here too. I love you Jeffree, please visit some day.
To add to that, middle and high school girls technically aren't allowed to wear makeup so they often have to do makeup-no-makeup looks, which is why a lot of metallics and shimmers pack less of a punch but the nude eyeshadow game is strong af
I am one of those mute watchers, however I just wanted to tell you I am inlove with everything you do. My respect for your business and the sincerity in your reviews is imcredible. In Korea they have very soft and light makeup. So when the red was sheer it was a very soft look that it was supposed to give. Since Korea they are really big on a natural and soft look.

Love ya 💕
Queen Miiyoung YES. This is how you explain something whilst being respectful to kbeauty and Jeffree 🙌🏻

Ya most if not all of k-beauty eyeshadow palettes are very subtle and sheer because it’s supposed to give you a more natural look
But even if they’re subtle and sheer a lot of k beauty brands have really great shimmer/glitter shadows so I don’t understand why the shimmers were bad

마시멜로 I totally feel you, that’s the aesthetic.
right? I could tell it would be great for Korean style makeup, so hearing him say the palette was a flop was frustrating. The review was really American-centric but that was expected.
@@n4cll hes american.
you can't fault him for that?
Exactly! But I dont think he got the memo:( atleast Edward Avila reviewed the red kit kat:^) but I really wanted to see a clear review on the pink one:(
True but I thnk he knows it
Yeah.
Yup
That's true.
pigment and patchy/not blending are totally different things though. Even the sheerest makeup should blend and not be patchy.
do you know of any korean youtubers or any legit articles I can read to learn more about how they do/apply their makeup?
Yeah tru tho. I see another beauty youtuber and she use the same pan and the eyes look so pretty. And the red also kinda more pigmented. I forgot the youtuber, maybe after this im gonna search her again
Pony. 😍😍😍
For being Korean makeup those swatches are actually REALLY pigmented. Even on the eyes it’s more pigmented then most Korean makeup products!
Anjel Benda I was thinking the same thing!
etude usually comes through with pigment
Anjel Benda yeah ttrueeeee
I’ve seen better Korean eyeshadows
I have noticed etude does pretty good about coming through on pigments. Obviously not what we are used to over here but definitely better then most Korean brands/products!
all Korean products are soft and lightly pigmented. Koreans prefer lighter looks, and they don’t really go for the heavy and bold style that Americans like
As he states in the video.
hyunhun the dark brown was for the outer v but he do him
I feel if he did it like the Korean makeup way it maybe would have worked better
Makes sense tho

Why? I'm Korean and most Korean makeup is junk. Korean skin care is off the chart but the makeup is one dimensional.
Well is it good for Korean standards?
The fact that Jeffree looks normal without eyebrows makes me so jealous.
Gyann Rose V. Alcantara same !!! I always forget he doesn’t have any 😂
That might be because we’re so used to him without eyebrows. But I remember the first time I saw him, I was a bit spooked 😅

Maybe it's because of his eyes.

Rachel Jennings dang bruh why u have to do her dirty like that she was just tryna get some money and ended up being s failure

Chloe Allen that’s what happens when you prioritize money over quality 🤷🏻♀️
I’m Korean and when he put on the red shadow, his eyes already looked very RED. Looked just nice, can’t imagine going bolder than this. Hahaha
Skskk same
Sure, but it looks very patchy. Also I think you'd expect bolder colors if you have watched more than 2 videos from Jeffree
You haven’t been here long have you honey?
I have another pallete from Etude House and the reds look worse than the browns or even the purples... and I loooove Etude House and soft makeup but... yeah, not soooo nice, but cute
She is a girl ...
actually etude house is a brand aimed towards the teenage public, like school kids, so that's why they have those kind of cute stuff, and also are always like sheer, and soft and natural

Iamkaathy can someone get Jeffrey to see this? What an informative response, thanks!
this comment is so accurate
Yeah but those metallic ones were still shit.

@@bunniessmacaroon haha no problem!

So I want to give you some real K Beauty recommendations with real good quality. Hope that you are interested in these and test them out!
1. Clio - Prism air shadow
:known for REALLY pigmented glitter eyeshadows, so I realllly recommend this one (single eyeshadows!)
2. Espoir - Be silk foundation
:This is one of the most famous and popular foundation in Korea at the moment, with matte silky finish
3. Peripera - Ink black mascara
:This is known for a very long lasting mascara, lasting the curls of the eyelashes that you curled before applying the mascara. But it might not be as volumizing as American mascaras
4. Too cool for school - Art by Rodin countour
:This is the best contour in Korea, known for the best color choice for contouring and good formula. But just know that Koreans do not 'bronze' their face, so they go for natural shading color
5. Bbia - Last velvet lip tint
:It has liquid lipstick like formula, and has really cute colors from all ranges of personal tones/colors (this is a thing in korea as well, you should definitely check what 'personal color' is, which consists of spring warm, fall warm, summer cool, winter cool tones and more specified tones that matches your natural skin tone and best colors for you!)
6. Clio -Rouge heel velvet lipstick
:Clio is just one of the best brands with great quality of makeup products. This is matte lipstick and I think it has around 20 colors
7.3ce - Eye switch
:This is a glitter eyeliner. But it is not actually used as an eyeliner, but koreans apply this under their eyes for a cute plumped eye bag effect or to look like tears with that glitter. It's really prettyyyy
Hope you read this comment and actually try out some of these products! And thank you for the review as well~

A little more research than the shimmer would've def helped him here
And totally agree with everything you said!

Loool I’m not even surprised that some of the colours didn’t work. Most of Asian cosmetics are really light. And hardly have any pigment. Asian products is all about getting the most natural look. Since that seems to be the preferred make up look.

It's No Longer Fiction whooo????

@It's No Longer Fiction wow. Rude much?
JEFFREE ! you and Nate should do a segment of trying candy and snacks from other countries! but like get really stoned first. And maybe just a second idea, try them again when your sober to see if your opinion changed??? I would love to see that!!!

-Jeffree Star 2019
When I saw this. I knew it won't be jefree star approved. Why? Well k-style makeup is minimalistic and is focused on a fresher and natural look hence the nature of most their makeup. Also.... I LOVE etude house but I'll be the first to admit that their eyeshadows are hits and misses plus when I sweat, they come off so easily even with primer. I'd stick with their skin care, skin blur, lippies, masks and play 101 eye pencils and liners.
But... I love this video! I was freaking out when I saw the etude house logo. Lolz!
@Zesif you should be making new content then. life is harsh but you can't get fans because of your story like that, just be self-made. god.
Fucking weebs
@@themargaritaparra sis its korean 💀💀
I would love for jefree to do a full face of Korean make up !!
Anyone else notice how happy jefree seems in this video?
Angel Streams his new lips look amazing! I think that’s why he looks and feels so good! 😊
I believe it's because he's not self conscious about his lips anymore so he smiles more❤️❤️ so happy to see him this way
Probably because of his new release of jeffree x morphe brush collab! ☺️
Also because of his lips!
Angel Streams you can still see his upper lip looks weird or lumpy still
“Y’all know cheap packaging.”
Did Jeffree just call us poor eye- -💀
Edit: This was just a joke guys, I know he was referring to us knowing the difference between quality and cheap products.😂
Lapin Perdu bwahahah I mean he ain’t wrong tho 😂😂😂
Lapin Perdu no, I think he was just saying we know the difference between cheap and quality packaging
audrey Lol yeah, I figured. I was just making a joke. 😂
I think all makeup brands need to step up their game and start including food and snacks into their packaging. I wanna get this for the snacks lol
Johnny Yg hot Cheetos pallette
Some shadows such as glitter/shimmer from Korean brands apply better with your finger
Yup or sponge applicators
Yesssss... All the while I was waiting for him to use his finger so that we all can see on how the shadows work with different techniques since he already did the wet/dry brush applications.
yesss I was like “USE UR FINGER!!”, i dont get why he was using fluffy brushes for the red shadow
I really appreciate you coming out with straws encouraging everyone to use less plastics!
Opal Niyomthai I mean he’s doing his part for LA their banning plastic straws
Im sorry but a question is the box plastic
I know really helps our planet!!!
It's great! I'm really proud of him. But i think we all could save more fish by not eating them :)
Alliyah Chavez it is cardboard
I just love how jeffree is so excited and having fun with this pallet in this video like omg she loves her sugar...love her❤️
You know that Jeffree is a male, right??
So it’s lowkey bothering me that a story is being done on how Kylie is a self made person. Jeffree fucking Star is a self made person. I really hope everyone realizes that. I don’t believe not a single person could be where he’s at today after going through what all he’s went through. Most of us wouldn’t be able to handle or make it. He also came out virtually unscathed and still smiling. He’s my idol.
Facts
a-fucking men. I've been there since the myspace days, although I was like, 13, I still understood what was going on in his life then and I never even imagined he would rise to be one of the most successful makeup artists in the world. He deserves it 10 fold man.
Spill that tea, mate! That's what's up!
remembering Jeffree during MySpace scene kids days! loved him then and still do even now! he's amazing!
Kylie had help, her dad was famous. Jeffree came from nothing. If you watch Shane’s series you can really see that.
Jeffree finding out that the palette comes with actual food in the box is me on so many levels
And being excited that it smelt like food.
You’re reaction to there being candy in there is freaking amazing 😂😂😂
Jeffree you should get a professional korean beauty makeup artist to do your makeup!!!
난시 nancy m I would love that ❤️
Pony (Pony Syndrome) would be perfect for this!
@@LienNguyen-oh6ir omg yessss
yaaaasss
Yes please
The thing about Korean makeup is it’s always almost sheer because their beauty standards tends to head towards the light and natural side
Sky Sky yea! I wear more Korean style makeup it’s not packed on like he’s used to. I know Etude House make great stuff.
Sky Sky Exactly, I think the eyeshadows are bomb for my taste
If you want a more heavy look, don't set your eye primer with Korean shadows. It makes them really nice and dark, which is why I usually don't set my lid, only the area just above.
Etude House's face-masks are BOMB! Helped me clear my face a lot :)
Minus all the plastic surgery

Omg Nate, “it kinda looks like it didn’t blend worth shit”. 😂😂💀💀 I’m dead. I love him. Y’all are too cute ❤️❤️❤️
I get what you're saying but for me, im not interested in korean makeup looks, maybe Korean skincare though..
Pony Beauty would be amazing
I love this idea
Korean Make up is more natural because Korea has a vey very high beauty standard. But Jeffree doesn’t have many natural looks. I’m Korean myself but I’m a Korean American. But I don’t use much make up. But What I’m gonna say may piss you off. I think it would be a harder collaboration, they wouldn’t have brighter popping colors. Jeffree has a more colorful and eye popping colors, Korean Beauty and him communicating would be hard.
Jeffree: "Usually I hate small things" *eyezoom*
😂😂😂
LOVED that "eye zoom"! 😁
You should collab with Kit Kat and create a kit kat flavored lip scrub :3
YESSSS
the thing with korean make-up is that it's supposed to look like they are not wearing any at all 😅
Yeah, I mean the browns are supposed to be pretty pigmented to create shadows and dimension, and the reds/pinks/colorful shades in general are supposed to just add the slightest bit of color to the looks ^^
exactly
understandable but no point in making makeup if you don't make it work.
@@ashcashcarter people use makeup for different reasons. In korea, that's how they prefer their makeup to perform. It does work for them
@@ashcashcarter if you look at the idols you will see how they expect their makeup to work... Based on that these palettes did EXACTLY what they are supposed to
Hot Topic has Polly Pocket makeup, i know it’s a terrible throwback buuut it would make an interesting review
hey I'm from South Korea and I just wanted to say that I really liked the review and even though it wasn't 100% positive I love that he was very honest and that at least he didn't kiss ass.
Shhhh that explains a lot ty ...I am Italian and pride and loyalty for where you are from means a lot to Me too!
I meant "Ahhh"
Its not like he can review every single makeup shit
It's all bad. Stop it
To add to that, middle and high school girls technically aren't allowed to wear makeup so they often have to do makeup-no-makeup looks, which is why a lot of metallics and shimmers pack less of a punch but the nude eyeshadow game is strong af
I am one of those mute watchers, however I just wanted to tell you I am inlove with everything you do. My respect for your business and the sincerity in your reviews is imcredible. Please keep doing what you do. You are an inspiration and extremely fun to watch and learn from. Thank you for bringing so much joy to my life. Xoxo
