Did an oil filter relocation, which involves 2 - 1/2 inch ID hoses passing the exhaust manifold in 2 places, only years later to find the hoses had been negatively impacted by the exhaust manifold heat. Am grateful I didn't dump all of the oil, but discovered this upon a check on the oil spot in my driveway. During the install, it seemed like 3 inches away from the heat source shouldn't affect the hose. My mistake. Am currently working on both wrapping the 2 hoses completely with some flexible heat shield sleeves separately, then followed by aluminum shielding in 2 locations (where the melting damage was found). Love the CAD! I was planning to do similar as your approach. Just checking around for some ideas. Thank you for sharing.
I used cardboard to make my heat shield wrap with Adhesive Backed Aluminized Fiberglass Heat Sheet Heat Protection Barrier Cover, for my cold air intake filter.
@@CashedOutCars why bother building a heat shield at all then? Everything you blocked is further away then what your heat wrap covers. I would suggest putting more heat wrap to cover the whole hose at least. For my set up I had to completely relocate my heater core hose because of how hot it gets. My previous set up I had a heat shield that has heat wrap on both sides and I also put heat wrap on my hose. I also bent the aluminum hose back so that the line would run behind the oil dip stick. I have videos of all this on my channel so you can see yourself. I’m not trying to be a dick just trying give you a heads up.
I know you're not trying to be a dick, I appreciate the concern. I checked out your setup and it looks good. The reason I built mine how it is is because I'd rather protect my brakes than my heater hoses and I didn't like how the shield would have came out for it to do both. Losing coolant won't be an immediate safety concern, losing brakes would. My heater hoses are bent back as well, they aren't as close as the video makes it look but I agree, I should wrap them more and can bend it around the dip stick. With that said I haven't had problems with continued abuse, but it's something I'll do. Thanks!

Gonna make one when I go turbo to block the cowl intake from the downpipe
That CAD joke was solid.
I'm making heat shielding for various parts on my supercharged miata!
Hahah thanks man! Good luck!

Just finished making a brake heat shield and intake air box using your method. This vid definately helps a ton
Awesome man! Enjoy your car!

Just built a similar shield for my brake system, preparing for my turbo build!
Awesome! Can’t wait to see your build when it’s done, as always I’m here to help along the way!
That cad joke was amazing. I’m putting a heat shield on my MazdaSpeed6
Hahahah thanks my friend! Enjoy that car and good luck with your project!
Cardboard aided design I’m dead
gonna make a cold air box same method. shouldnt be too hard
That’s a good use of shielding, good luck!
Holy crap im literally doing this exact same thing. Not even a day apart
Funny how that sometimes happens! Good luck with yours!
Might I suggest an even cheaper message: Reynolds Wrap
That’s one way to preserve your car!
Say goodbye to your heater core hoses
They’ve been holding up great and are heat wrapped
@@CashedOutCars until you go to the track or take it on a long drive. There’s a reason I covered mine.
I know there’s a reason which is why I wrapped mine, what did you use to cover yours, another heat shield?
