    Sid Vicious was NOT a bass player, just a stage presence. Simon Gallup is a living legend though.

    Kissing tour Florence 30 november 1987, i pulled my sun glasses on stage, Simon picked them up and put them on for all just like heaven song. I went mad from the Amazing and fun.

    Great interview, Simon is very intelligent, he's describing the current situation with all the "woke" activists ruining things for other people. One of my favorite songs and I hope to read the book one day soon.

      On the other hand, if a band put out a song like "Killing a Jew" or "Killing a Black Man", how well do you think that would go down?

    • @shapolfab
      @shapolfab 10 місяців тому

      This was filmed at least 15 years ago if not more. So Nothing to do w the current situation with all the so-called “woke”activists whatever that means!

    I could watch an hour long interview with Mr.Gallup. I absolutely love listening, seeing and reading Robert interviews & and I always will, but I would so love to see LOTS more interviews with the rest of the band. I get the feeling that they're not interested in it, though.

    Could be, the file-song has been took from a concert folder with 20 songs named Cure live 2002 without any more information, I added to the video due is my favourite version, the speed, performance and audio is perfect.

    • @taffycat93

      @@alukuhito are you suggesting that Arabs feel hate or feel like killing someone? What's your point?

    • @alukuhito
      @alukuhito 3 роки тому

      @@taffycat93 Well, I'm just a regular western person who likes the Cure, so that song doesn't bother me. However, I'm just thinking, if I was an Arab, that could be some serious shit. I'm not a Jew, but if I was a Jew and there was a song, regardless of being based on a book or not (and who even knows what the book is actually about?), and that song was called "Killing a Jew" and it was by a band as huge as The Cure, that they play often in concert, and have been doing so for 40 years or so, I might just have an issue with that. I'm just saying that I can see another point of view. Maybe we need a debate. We could get Robert Smith justifying to upset Arabs why he sings a song called "Killing an Arab", and we can see if both sides have valid points or not.

    • @taffycat93
      @taffycat93 3 роки тому

      @@alukuhito You're the reason why Robert changed the sing to Killing Another. And you're point has been made without you needing a whole diatribe on the subject.

      @@taffycat93 So, I'm the reason? Interesting. I didn't even know he changed it. And he did so for me. Wow. That was nice of him. You were asking for a comment, so I gave you one. Off to bed now.

    I'm not sure if they've gone back to playing the original way, but a few years back when I saw them they were singing "Kissing an Arab" as opposed to "Killing an Arab," which I thought was kind of silly. Love the song though.

    • @greghol
      @greghol 7 років тому

      Saw them last year and it is back to KAA. It was "killing another" from the recordings I heard prior to that.

      greghol that was just the NME recordings wasn't it? Because the broadcaster wasn't comfortable with the words. I've seen them three times over twenty years and each time it was Killing an Arab.

    Sigh...I love the cure and Simon but people are stupid and when they see a song title like this of course the first reaction is being offended , imagine if a song came out called killing a brit , but it's based off a book called "my shoe" , what do you think is gonna happen? I'm not condoning violence but a different title could've helped..too late now tho😒

    Sid is influence in atitude and stage presence for many bass players and he could play bass (but his addiction ruin his life). But Why I do give a fuck what the general public think? The general public is scum (Sid Vicious).

    • @pern1044
      @pern1044 5 років тому +2

      Sid Vicious absolutely could "not" play the bass. Famous close friend and famous rivals ALL reported Sid Vicious could not play guitar. Period. His own band members would unplug his bass on shows. Sid was only a poster punk idol because his hair style and fashion sense he nailed to the T, perfection there by inspiring countless fans to dress like him. I don't see any baby-pins on you. No, you want to look like a mesh of Sid and Nancy. But I get it, you think he's cute so you'll create lies to place him on a peddlestal. Disgusting. (I sound so punk) No one will EVER believe a comment like it. Now go, run along and put your makeup and goth music you know very little of.

    Why so uptight Simon? You and Robert are my adopted Godparents! Only people who make a difference are loved, or hated. If I was 30 years younger i'd stalk you. But only in a good way- you are in my teenage dreams- sounds so cliche', but you are my family - i could never ask for any better. It friday, silly- and i'm in love.

    📣Well DUHHHHH, when you put out a SONG about KILLING something or someone, it creates a gravitation to the feeling behind the lyrics.
    And it makes the listeners think the singer feels that way.
    It's the same with ANY SONG
    It's just like if HE heard a song by a French person talking about killing an English person
    DUHHHHHHHHHH
    .
    .
    .
    The silliness is in the defense of this.
    It SHOULD HAVE BEEN AN APOLOGY
    It was a bad decision.
    Whether rob disliked Arabic ppl or not

    • @deaddoll1361
      @deaddoll1361 3 роки тому +6

      It's a song about a book, the silliness is people like you thinking that deserves an apology.
