The devs just needed a bit longer to understand the PSSR tech so they can better ensure the games that run on the pro run better than the base PS5 without the patch and the perform better once patched. Small technical glitches like this are generally expected at the early stages
We know PSSR can do wonders for a game. But there are issues with some implementations. Sub-900p native seems to be a no-no. Mixing PSSR and raytracing seems to cause problems on some games. Hope they get it figured out.
@@toastyburger I'm thinking in a few months we will see an update on this pro that will involve the pssr.. They will figure it out and get it together

@@zapmando do you know the term “pro enhanced”? Let me help you: it means that the devs developed code to support the pro. The brute force you are talking about is for every non patch games
@@zapmandoPSSR is applied to every game… that’s its brute force… Pro enhanced, the dev goes back and maxes out the the PSSR application, with either dynamic res or unlocking the framerate. Boost mode is for PS4 games only, every PS5 title benefits from superior clarity and smoother frames. PSSR is the ML inside the PRO.
I haven't encountered any problems on the Pro, and like you say, there are bound to be some games that have teething issues. Daft decision to include DLCs as "game" nominations.
Adding PS5 Pro features to existing games seems more like a patch job. I think when developers implement PS5 Pro modes during their development of new games you may begin to see a difference for the better.
Thats a fair point, i also think as developers get more used to the tech and system inside the pro these problems will become few and far between, to be fair considering how many games run on the PS5 Pro (patch or no patch) there were bound to be a handful of small glitches with a few games. Afterall, we are only just over a week into the launch of a brand new console.
There’s definitely some growing pains. In Ratchet and Clank Rift Apart, in Fidelity Pro mode, puddle reflections are completely broken and don’t show. They just show as black textures. And this is from Sony’s own Insomniac which is surprising. I’ve already actually logged tickets with Ubisoft for Outlaws and Insomniac for Rift Apart (the public can do this). Trying to find somewhere to do this for Silent Hill and Jedi Survivor but I’m sure they must be well aware of the chatter by now. Seems like a couple of these patches just added PSSR, did zero testing, and shoved it out the door. And it’s not a good look. On the plus side this is exactly what needs to be worked out with PSSR in the wild if it’s going to be used for PS6. They’ll it patched up. Silent Hill 2 definitely has a Pro patch already though as it has the same strobing foliage issue that is really in your face in that one.
You make a good point there, this is exactly what is needed for the PSSR and tech within the system to improve, Afterall its still very early in the console Lifecyle, we are only at commercial version 1 for the PSSR, when we get to version 3 or 4 it would hopefully be in such a more advanced position. This also allows the devs to get familiar with their development work and how to best utilise the pro boost and enhancement features on offer. It does feel like some games have been quickly patched to ensure they have higher frames, ray tracing and improved visuals without going deep with their enhanced patch, i feel this was done just get the label "enhanced" and have "x" amount of games ready for the launch of the Pro. Even though the vast majority of the games look and feel great, i'm not knocking it. However, imagine the devs having had a year, 18 months, 2 years developing their games with pro features - i think that is when we are really going to see a bigger leap from where we are today.
The whole Silent Hill 2 situation is why the communal group thinking of the internet is a very dangerous thing. Silent Hills 2 is not patched on PS5 pro. The PS store list it as a pro enhanced game but if you check the version history and the developer patch notes you will see that the current version of the game (according to the developer and what's showing on all PS5 consoles) is version 1.0005 which is the patch to the base PS5 code and does not have any pro implementation whatsoever. You can check thier patch notes to confirm this. The PS5 pro doesn't change the rendering of games unless they have been patched....yet the claim is that the game is somehow running or looking worst than the base PS5 which is technically not possible. Any changes to the core visuals of the game outside of implementing a pro patch would equally effect the base PS5 version in the same measure and magnitude as the PS5 pro because until it gets a patch the Pro is just running the base PS5 code and from a performance metric it would be better because even with the framerate and visuals caps the pro still has a better GPU and slightly faster CPU. So at worst, Silent Hill 2 runs the exact same as base PS5....it is impossible that it runs worst because it hasn't been patched. As for games like Alan Wake 2 and Star Wars Jedi Survivor (games which have been patched) it must be noted that the game is outputting at a higher resolution and settings than the base PS5. It maybe that the developer has pushed beyond what is acceptable for image quality but from listening to DF description of the issue it appears that they are comparing stills of the game vs the game in motion. According to DF the game looks better in motion than it does in still images and it likely due to the low internal resolution and high output resolution in these games. The funny thing is if you look at thier coverage of those games on base PS5....the issue they took with those games was the game in motion and not and stills. What this tells me is that PSSR is eliminating the blurring that normally accompanies FSR2.0 in motion. I am not sure why we are comparing stills of a game as most of us want better visuals for playing games not standing still but that could just be me and my personal preferences. I think its debatable to say that it looks worst if it looks better while playing especially if it's outputting at a higher resolution and higher details while also running at better framerate....it kinda feels like looking for something to have criticism about vs having a flaw that needs to be addressed.
You make an excellent and detail point, really appreciate your comment. As i mentioned in the video, i haven't personally experienced any issues with the pro, for me it performs really well, as i expected it to. We can all assume there will be a handful of small problems or technical issues with some games given how many games there are out there playable on the PS5 Pro (patched or not patched), and that devs are still getting used to working with the Pro. These small technical issues will be eliminated as time goes on and as devs become more familiar with the system and how best to optimise their games (with or without the pro patch).
To be honest about TGA, I don't care! I have neva put any weight behind what Geoff Keighley and the access media decide when it comes to who has GOTY! It's a joke anyway! Most of the people voting I have no respect for anyways, and what the shill media say is GOTY doesn't affect my opinions on the games I loved or what games sold bucket loads! They have no influence on what games gamers love, and what games gamers think are pure turd, thank god! So it doesn't matter what game the shill media choose, they will never affect a great games sales! Even if the devs don't adhere to their way of thinking. So the Shill Media, go ahead, choose what your opinion is on GOTY and I will happily disagree!!!!
The DLC, Remake and Remasters should all have their category - best dlc, best remake etc, but the best game of the year should be for the best game of that year excluding what i have already said.
Completely agree - i did say that although there are a handful of games with these errors/games that requiring fixes, the vast majority of games perform exceptionally well and i personally haven't had any issues with any of the games i've played
Alan wake 2 is also having issues on the pro I get a red light around the edges of my tv screen and the image is super unstable and stuttery and looked better on ps5 unfortunately
Yeah a handful of games have had small issues, its early days, give it a short period of time and hopefully the devs will be able to update those games to enable them to run as intended on the Pro.
Rainbow six siege has some funny shadow issues when in drone mode, and some tearing when turning. This didn't occur on the PS4. And cyberpunk still needs some patches. Sometimes the background characters drown out the main story dialogue. But considering I'm jumping from PS4 to 5 Pro, I'm happy to actually be able to play it. Other than that, there are a few small things that bother me (like not being able to select how trophies are sorted permanently), but the pros outweigh the cons tenfold.
Completely agree, the pro's by far outweigh the negatives, personally i haven't seen any flaws or issues on the games i have played, maybe i haven't noticed them, but if that's the case then it couldn't have been a noticeable flaw unless i went looking for it. I'd expect there to be a handful of games that experienced some technical difficulties at the start of a new console, there always is, it will just take a few weeks before the devs can sort out some of these small issues.
Assassin's creed mirage is the worse out of the 15 pro games I own. Seriously it's shocking. No options and it runs at Sub 60fps with massive stuttering.
