American military production was astounding. At the height of the war, brand new fully equipped destroyers, were being produced EVERY WEEK. The original Rosie the Rivetter, the woman chosen as a model for the poster, was from a wealthy family. She wanted to work for the war effort.
My mom used income from war work to pay for college credits. She said the boss was not happy about all those women and sat them all in the front so he could make sure they behaved.
Next up: The Canary Girls. "We were yellow, it penetrated your skin. Your hair turned blonde and on the top of the crown was the proper colour of your hair." Though temporary, the affects of packing shells with trinitrotoluene - more commonly known as TNT - ran more than skin-deep. -BBC News, 20 May 2017
Have your state support the Equal Rights Amendment to the Constitution, if it hasn't already. It just requires a couple of more states acceptance. It's a shame that it hasn't passed yet.
My mother was 14 when war broke out, and worked in a munitions factory in England when she finally managed to get there (from Belgium via Portugal). She died just two months shy of her 90th birthday - 9 years ago. Just how young does CBS think factory workers were that they think any of them could be in their 80s? WW2 ended 79 years ago... to be in their 80s a woman would have to have been riveting at 10 years old. At least pretend to care about this story enough to do some basic maths.
Team work! Yes!! 💯💥💫 🫶🫶🫶👍💥💫💞💖❣️❣️ An example of what it takes to beat a horrific enemy!! Everyone pitches in! 🥰🫠🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲 Makes me think of the "99'ers," women pilots too!!

The changes they experienced gave them, and us, options.
