As ever Top Notch review..by a Top Notch bloke ,⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Top Comment!🤣😜
Got my BP TTAs in the other day. I was blown away by the quality and detail of them. They are better than some of my Dads OO ones. Admittedly his were purchased decades ago, but it still showed me just how good these are.
Yup, Hornby seems to have gotten the level of detail just right with these… and they run so well
How on earth that much detail is put on to something so small is astounding! Fantastic!
They’re remarkably detailed, so much better in the flesh than in the website/catalogue. 😊
Looking forward to the special edition with the outtakes, including the carpet slippers!
🤭🤣🤣
I know I'm 3 months late to the party here, but there's another significant detail difference between these wagons. The Total example runs on the original leaf springs whilst the other two feature the later Bruninghaus springs. Hornby got this right on the OO versions and it's great to see this attention to detail trickling down to TT120 too!
Yeah that got bye me in the video recording. I need to learn not to rush these things! 🫣
Excellent stuff as usual Peachy. The rolling test shows we need bufferstops even for models.
Yes I was very pleased to see that they roll well. Let’s hope we never get the 12t poor standard again.
Hi chris mine arrived this morning and think they are great. Have sent a message of congrats to Louis the designer.
He certainly did a cracking job
Thank you for the appreciation
@@Louisspurgin wow! Hello Louis. You’ve done an absolutely cracking job with these! Very well done.
Feel free to subscribe 😜
@@PeachyTT120 you’re too kind and yes I will do
thanks louis. looking forward to your next creation. need another 17 of your tankers when funds allow.
Good too see there is half a chance Trigo can muster up enough Horse Power (see what I did there?) to haul a long train of TTA’s ….. nice close ups of some of the incredible detail and fittings. Hope DPD can manage the oil train from Margate to High Fell… I’ll take over from there, cheers Chris, excited now 😊
You won’t be disappointed. Neither will Trigger.. I mean Trigo. 😄
They really look good great detail, looking forward to them being available here. Still waiting for the Peco plank wagons to be available here in Australia.
Yeah you guys down under need the patience of saints.
You’ll love ‘em when you finally get hold of some.
Hi Chris. I love the liveries on these tankers (and I don't mind the "excessive" detail on the underside), but I think they look a little "plasticky". Great runners, though. I love the thought of you doing a pastiche of Sam from Sam's trains, and am disappointed at missing it - I know he would find it amusing as he is always up for a laugh.
🤣 never gonna happen… it was ridiculous. My left knee locked and I had to “roll” out of it 🫣☺️
@@PeachyTT120 Comes to us all, Chris (LOL).

Great video 10/10 … my two remaining wagons just arrived today !

@@PeachyTT120last video took 3hrs to achieve 2 minutes of video !
@@MIKELANETT120 I hear your pain… people don’t realise just how much effort goes in….
There are 2 differences on the wagons the step ends and handrails the esso and total has handrails on the top BP doesn't. They are all I have found so far.i like the tiny lamp brackets on the ends great detail.😊😊.
Yes, I was being lazy classing all that access kit as one group of details, as you say differing between the BP & the Esso/Total. Shame they couldn’t think of a tiny detail difference between the Esso & Total
@PeachyTT120 there might be one on esso or total we haven't found yet. I'll keep looking 🥸
Lovely! And I just got a message that mine are on their way
Great news!!
The detail on these tankers are amazing. Pretty sure the two tankers are incorrectly listed as era 7 when they should be era 8. They have the railfreight red stripe and the Total wagon has the petroleum sector decal.
I think you may well be correct as you’re not the first to mention this.
I've just been reading BRM magazine review, and it would appear I'm half right. The Total wagon is indeed era 8. However, the Esso wagon is era 6. I wish Hornby would get these things right, as it's misleading customers!
@@Mallard1410 yeah I saw that in BRM, kudos to them for highlighting it.
Haha, unboxing on the floor is a young mans game. I used to buy the catalogs and memorise them as kid. Now everything is online. But I try not to get excited as it costs more to get anything here Downunder. I am very interested in doing my own graphics on my 3D printed wagons. What is their secret? lots of Talented hand painters?
Very expensive printers I think!
@@PeachyTT120 It is not something I know much about except to DIY decals Alps printers are needed for white ink. These might be ink stamped but the details are fantastic.
Great video! They look fantastic, mine have just been dispatched so probably arriving tomorrow. :)
You’re gonna love ‘em
Hi Peachy, loving the channel and the videos and this one. By no means a criticism, but noticed a big gap between the right-hand point right-hand running rail and the receiving running rail (all nearest the camera), and this seems to be unsettling the tank wagons a bit. Best John
Glad you’re enjoying the channel, the “bump” was from a wayward piece of ballast stuck between the rail and inside guide rail, gone now and all’s running as it should.
The gap is a left over from when this back drop yard was going to be left as DC only with an isolated lane, but it’s now all wired into the DCC bus.
as with you the carless became the esso tank. Brilliant though.
Thanks for the review, I'm looking forward to receiving mine.
Is the 45 ton / 35 ton discrepancy a typo or is the 45 ton tanker for leaded petrol?
That’s a question I’m hoping more knowledgeable people might be able to answer.
Glad you like the review.
Hi Chris, Enjoyed the video and will probably order the wagons. I bought an 08 shunter but as yet the decoder isn't available nor is there space for a speaker. How did you manage the sound?
I had mine upgraded by Richard @ThisWayWorks this conversion was specifically aimed at HM7000 Bluetooth so it has an 8pin sound version hard-wired in.
As a much cheaper option (if you intend on having loads of 08’s) there are plenty of 6 pin sound decoders out there that will easily fit, you’ll just have to go with a more traditional DCC operation. (Which unfortunately can also be expensive)
Last option is wait a few years for Hornby to produce a small enough 6pin, Bluetooth decoder, I’m it sure it will happen. One day.
12.35 see the tankers going over a "bump" on the points ? My A1 tender does this on points and derails. Any idea what the "bump" is ?
In my case it was a tiny piece of ballast stuck between the rail and the plastic rail guides. It’s clear now of course!😜
But yes I have had issues especially with Peco points where if the axle spacing isn’t wide enough the wheel actually rides these guide rails. 2 options, pull the wheels wider apart (that’s sometimes easier said than done) but that can cause drag in the axle boxes, or you can carefully trim away at the plastic guides with a scalpel. Bit invasive but works.
@@PeachyTT120 thanks for the tips .. Not yet ballasted track so not that .. But have pinned with track pins .. Sigh, so hard to replace points now . Will look at wheels.Hornby points. Glad to hear peco not miraculously better .
@@gregvideo07 with the Peco, it’s more the case that they are a finer model so need tighter tolerances than some of the factories that are producing for Hornby are actually working to.
Gronk it Up Gronk it Up, not a cult for tax purposes
