@@SweetforSthe only reason people didn’t over react back then was because some of their fave idols (depending on the time of that groups debut) debuted as minors. I mean out of all the post IZ*ONE debuted minors barely had any involvement at any concept or songs that sexualised them before becoming a legal adult (Korea it is 19 which for the context of Kpop I’ll use) like since at the time of their debut, Nayeon was the only adult in Twice (if I used international which I am not then it would only be the Maknae line who were underage) and some of the moves in like ooh ahh could count as sexualisation for those under Korea’s legal adult limit but we also had Tzuyu being sexualised in other ways to which obviously caused backlash since she was 16/17 throughout those 2 years or so she was sexualised. But thing is you had groups with members being all minors and not having a sexy concept (as I mentioned I’ll go by Korea’s legal age system) like SNSD and then you also have groups that had minors at debut like Loona that effectively avoided having a sexy concept with minors being present. The fact that the newer fans of kpop (mainly being Gen Z and Alpha) are more vocal on rights and how people should be portrayed in media like this shows that we are more protective of those at a younger, relative and older age like personally if you debut a minor and they are still a minor when you have a sexualised concept, that’s a no no but if it’s a concept suitable for minors and if the group doesn’t get overworked then I’d say it’s fine for minors to debut as long as they make good decisions too but I agree with the part about no one batting an eye at the ages of the Yujin and Wonyoung during produce and their debut in Iz*one like ever since then, none of mnets other survival shows had contestants this young I’m pretty sure so yeah! I agree with you mainly on that!

You're so right about the "fun kind of kpop is back" opinion. Like it can be fun, cool, quirky and APPROPRIATE (orange caramel vibes) instead of having wierd lyrics that sound suspiciously inappropriate. This is a BIG issue with when it's a song given to a group with MINORS in it but if it's all adults, i wouldn't mind at all.
mentally, physically, emotionally, i was so immature in many ways when i was 13. being a k-pop idol takes a lot of stress and responsibility on top of school, family and whatever else a 13 year old could be dealing with. imo the cutoff should be 18 like most jobs are.
And people were defending these lyrics on twitter, for some reason k-pop stans NEVER choose the right side, they judge fifity fifity girls for defending themselves from their company but they defend things like cookie and macaroni cheese lyrics , Girl I can't!
Never. Why are Kpop fans defending a CEO or a company over a Kpop idol. How many times in the entertainment industry have we seen those in higher positions abuse their power to exploit those in lower positions.
Fifty Fifty wasn't a great example considering it's super messy and complicated and it's still ongoing with more evidence being added... Besides that, I do agree that no one should be defending these lyrics or the choice to debut minors.

your takes are very refreshing. i feel like in the whole kpop community people are so ignorant to these kinda of issues that you can practically never explore nuances and smaller details of intention since nobody will ever hear you out. even if you have indismissable evidence nobody will believe you half the time. i’m really scared for all the young idols in general. can’t imagine what it’s like behind the scenes. like with something like this that means the creator director(s) had to sit down and discuss all of this and continually thought it was okay? the fuck?
Cause kpop Stan are some of the dumbest mfs on earth 😭 someone says “I’m scared for the well being of a child in an exploitative industry” they hear “fuck them kids” it’s no reasoning with these fuckass people 🫠
I share this experience as well. To the point where I’m under the conspiracy that any takes relating to this topic are being supressed. Whenever I identify the negative consequences that come from debuting underage… or point out current examples of how underage idols are being exploited, there’s always this dismissive attitude in response. I don’t know why it’s taken me so long but I now realize fans really don’t care about their idols the way they say they do.

Tbh I didn’t see anything wrong with the song until people started talking about it being sexual. The mv was very straightforward on the food being the focus. But Now that I go over the lyrics especially the English parts, it could’ve been written differently. I know Sunhye, the member who wrote the song was legit just about food but the other writers most likely changed it. Also knowing that Sunhye doesn’t know English kinda makes more sense as to why these lyrics sounded that way

i don’t understand why people are sexualizing the group name tho?? posse literally means a group of friends yall are weird for even thinking its supposed to sound like young p*ssy??
As far as the MV's visuals go, I believe most of it was farmed out to a US director and crew. He did post-production of planning the shots, the on sight directing, and visual effects afterwards. I saw a video with the director, and he really didn't give the impression that he was trying to film something provocative in a sexual sense. He got a working track of the song, thought it was different/cool sounding, knew it was about Mac & Cheese, so he and his visual crew went to town on making something crazy. I believe the company reached out to him because they knew he was a person who did strange visuals. So making microwave sets and a cheese tunnel was what they wanted, to his surprise. He seemed fully unaware that K-Pop loves crazy visuals, so him suggesting transitions of falling out of air planes, floating in huge bowls, and flying vending machines was just what the company wanted. So I think in terms of the directing side, he just wanted to make something really cool. He also was nothing but amazed and overflowing with praise for the shooting crew, all the girl's staffers, and the girls themselves. The one thing I got the impression he wasn't a fan of was the crazy work schedule which was a 22 hour shoot...nonstop. So it was from 7am one day all they to 5am the next. I doubt he knew the ages because as an American that would kinda be upsetting to know you're asking a 13 year old to reshoot intense dance choreo at 3am in the morning, you know? Since the guy seemed down to earth, I have to think he was in the dark on a lot of things. At least that's how it came off to me. He did praise not only staff for keeping the energy up, but the girls themselves. He said they were excited about every aspect of the shoot (given it's their first MV) so they gave it their all. She also thought they were very professional for being so inexperienced and he admired that. So yeah, novel aside, I just thought I'd point out that I think the foreign director and his crew probably had no idea about the ages, and probably weren't looking for sexual lyrics either. He just seemed in awe of Korea, the work ethic, the talent the crew/girls had, and the country itself. I can tell he didn't feel weirded out and really enjoyed the experience. Since he was one of two people on set who spoke english, he said he communicated to the girls through pantomime, and built a chemistry off of that because they thought it was fun and he thought they were cute. I get the impression that he'd rather work in Korea than here, judging by the video I saw, lol. I guess things are just ran better there in his experience, other than the crunch hours.
@S4TURN_officiallisten to posse up and tell me you don’t hear it. They don’t pronounce it in the way the Hangul says which is “pawssshhi” they says “puhseeee” and there’s like a slight vowel intonation diff between that and the other word like please don’t be deaf here
@@SweetforS did you ever start to consider that maybe that’s because it’s an English word and these people are… Korean and speak Korean as a first language yes the debut was inappropriate but these girls are going to have an accent, and pronounce English words differently, because they don’t speak English as a native language. And a word like that, can easily be miss pronounced like the other word.

Right? I’m 20 and feel so uncomfortable about this and had just turned 19 last year when cookie was released. For nj, I didn’t mind their ages as much as the way the song turned out. I believe it’s somewhat acceptable to debut a group of teens IF and only if the concept is completely child friendly and good for the members. And never is 13 ok either. So putting both 13/14 AND a flirtatious concept like this together? No no no no

A 13 knows about sexual jokes and innuendos (at least I did and I was 13, 3 years ago) The problem is broadcasting what a 13 yr say to the entire world because a 13 yr knows what the jokes mean but they don’t the ramifications of a bunch of adults interacting with that will have. It’s also sending a message of “they wanted it” yes the child has a mind and agency of their own but they don’t have one like an adult and showcasing this song as one they wrote themselves is taking responsibility of the adults who should be protecting and them adults who are desperate for any excuse to prove they’re not weird for enjoying this stuff
@@vivennecapri that's what I meant without elaborating really. a 13 year old can grasp the idea of sexual innuendos, maybe string a few lines together, but in no way can grasp how much their words will follow them for the rest of their lives or the kinds of people that listen to those words, basically the depth behind it all. Agree, but you gotta look at it business wise. All these companies want longevity from their idols. If they debut a 21+ year old. You’re only gonna get probably 5 to 7 years out of them. Meanwhile if they debut someone younger they can get up to 10+ years. Not at all am I saying debuting 13 year olds is good, I’m against that but just seeing it from a different way. But you are right

You're so right about the "fun kind of kpop is back" opinion. This is a BIG issue with when it's a song given to a group with MINORS in it but if it's all adults, i wouldn't mind at all.
journalism is back
if everyone stopped supporting groups with literal children in them, this would end. But they get the most support and attention
mentally, physically, emotionally, i was so immature in many ways when i was 13. being a k-pop idol takes a lot of stress and responsibility on top of school, family and whatever else a 13 year old could be dealing with. imo the cutoff should be 18 like most jobs are.
Notice how in both of these examples the stance taken is firmly positioned in the side that doesn’t have the girls’ best interest in mind.
Fifty Fifty wasn't a great example considering it's super messy and complicated and it's still ongoing with more evidence being added... Besides that, I do agree that no one should be defending these lyrics or the choice to debut minors.

I share this experience as well. To the point where I’m under the conspiracy that any takes relating to this topic are being supressed.
Whenever I identify the negative consequences that come from debuting underage… or point out current examples of how underage idols are being exploited, there’s always this dismissive attitude in response.

A 13 knows about sexual jokes and innuendos (at least I did and I was 13, 3 years ago)
The problem is broadcasting what a 13 yr say to the entire world because a 13 yr knows what the jokes mean but they don’t the ramifications of a bunch of adults interacting with that will have.
@@vivennecapri that's what I meant without elaborating really. a 13 year old can grasp the idea of sexual innuendos, maybe string a few lines together, but in no way can grasp how much their words will follow them for the rest of their lives or the kinds of people that listen to those words, basically the depth behind it all. thank you, finally a kpop fan with a brain! i agree with everything you said in this video and i'm tired of kpop stans calling others "dramatic" or "you're the dirty one" for being concerned and not okay with this sh*t. i commented a few things you mentioned below their mv a few days ago and i got JUMPED in the comments, people were defending this debut with their whole life umm... i blame all the stupid fans who made new jeans and other groups in their age range one of the top kpop groups of the new gen. ofc companies will try to do the same if they see that groups like new jeans are super successful.
the thing is as a kpop fan that doesn't know everything and isn't online all the time (yeah we excist) i watched the video and didn't know and didn't notice that there were minors cause they dress like 20 year olds or sth it scares me
im in love with ur editing style
Watching the video of the director talking about his experience directing the music video and got major ick from all the grown men on set who thought it was OK to have teenagers being sexualized in certain scenes.
The song really sounds like it could be NCT 127 Cherry Bomb's sister version!
A 19 year old should not be living in a dorm with a 13 year old…let alone be in a group. Even though 19 is still young, they’re an adult
They have middle school kids grouped with college students, does that make sense ?!
It’s weird as heck.
And the fact that they say “It’s YOUR young Possee” in one of their song’s intro…😫
13 is crazy..
Honestly I love the Macaroni single but fr tho what is the need to have a member as young as 13 when you already have members that are 17-19. Like how young was she when she became a trainee sheesh
as soon as i saw the commercial esque teasers for the group i was seated! but just like you i saw them perform at that festival or whatever and my interest for the group left (i didn’t know they were gonna be a hiphop group). then i found out their ages and i was done 😧
smth so twisted about the fact that DSP has and still continues to have a SUPER young girls debut (at all!!) with young women who are 19 or older.
Kara (Jiyoung joined a year later but still) - Gyuri was 20 and Jiyoung was 14 at the time she joined
April - Somin & Chaekhyun were 19 and Jinsoul was 13/14
Now these girls. Like what in the actual
(just searched Puretty and tell me why once again eldest was 18 and youngest was 14??? wtf)
