I’m going to go with the Spyderco Sage 5, Benchmade 945 and the Ferrum Forge Stinger as my fav EDC. To throw in a super budget knife I’ll go with the Kizer Infinity. Picked mine up for $25 new and it’s just great. Not a flaw IMO. Great vid btw
I don't have hundreds of knives, I have 20. And IMO only 5 are perfect: Opinel Garden: $19 pocketable rustic slicer. Morakniv Kansbol: $36 camp knife that can do both bushcraft and some slicing duties. Spyderco Dragonfly 2 Wharncliffe in K390: $107 utility box opener with extraordinary edge retention We Kitefin: ~$160 hollow grind EDC. I have the bronze machined Ti version, and its like my CRKT/Ken Onion Ripple 2 went to finishing school. Spyderco Kapara: $233 (once less) culinary friendly EDC. IMO the best EDC design Spyderco has ever offered, superb ergos and sliceyness. Hindered only by S30V steel (a bit too brittle) and I'd buy it again if it were ever offered in MagnaCut.
G'day from Aus, yeah I get it, they're all my favourite too, haven't had a bad one yet, different strokes for different folks, you get what you pay for & sometimes to much, I'm a retired vet & live in a rural setting, my philosophy is comfortable in the hand, minimal blade curve, quick to touch up the edge for EDC general use, from Old Timers, Leatherman's, Ontario Rat's, Spiderco's, there was a time when things weren't as affordable, glad you mentioned the Two Sun, good value for medium to high end knives, haven't faulted one yet in more than 3 years, many designers, lots of designs for all applications & aesthetics 🍻👍😊
perfect knife for me is the manix 2. don’t care if it’s the g10 or LW, that knife is just perfect in my eyes and is easily the most comfortable knife i own in my hands. if i had to pick a specific version it would 100% be the rex45 LW model. once the crucarta version releases and if i ever decide to try the manix salt, those two will likely be contenders to go up agains the rex45 but of the knives i own my manix 2 lw in rex45 is just amazing. a close second and third would be my smooth black g10 and dlc coated cruwear pm2 KC exclusive, and either my magnacut native or my k390 endura wharnie. besides folders i only own i think 6 fixed blades, and only 3 of them have ever been carried. of those three i love them all but my bradford guardian 3.5 in vanadis 4e is easily my favorite, it’s stupidly comfortable with the 3d micarta. also, you should do more videos on fixed blades man (assuming you are also into them and aren’t against this idea)
Loving the choices. Kizer have been killing it. The KIZER BEGLEITER MINI and the petrified fish beluga still remain 2 of my many favourites. Luvin the channel
Nice list. With me I'm in medium large folders and they have to be "tactical" if it can't save me it's not getting carried. Oh I take most pocket clips off. Am I the only person who does??
Love those knives. Perfection is very subjective as it includes an emotional connection that is different for everyone. My perfect knives include the Civivi McKenna with black washed brass handle and blade.
I agree with so much in this video, and your enthusiasm is contagious. You can hear your passion in your voice and I wish my friends would be as into knives as you are, so I could geek out with them. 😆 You lost me a bit with the Sheepdog Mini and the Elementum, though. The Sheepdog Mini, as cool as it looks and as iconic as the blade shape is turning out to be, the ergos are terrible. Nothing flows, the clip disturbs the three finger grip and it's uncomfortable when actually using it for longer periods of time. It's my least used knife, even though I still love the blade. The Elementum has been surpassed by so many knives that it's becoming a bit of yesteryear's news. Take it apart and look at the quality of the parts. I mean, I love Chinese knives, but the Elementum is like fastfood. It does the trick but it's passionless, bland and cheap. Take that one apart and put all the parts side by side next to an Elementum, and the difference in quality is instantly obvious. To me it was, at least. Still, I agree with so many of your choices and even saw some I hadn't considered before (that Ferrum looked great!). Cheers. :)
Love all the knives with ambi clips in this one. Lefty Love is a priority for me, as well as not being a frame lock, and must have multiple deployment methods or minimally thumb studs or a hole, rather than just a flipper. Fun list, tons of goodies.
Some really excellent looking knives in this video. I cannot believe how many knives I buy, yet still barely scratch the surface of what's out there. So many you just showed that I still don't have 😅😑
Good show Wayne, my wishlist just took an upturn. I agree with you on those Civivi’s, just hard to miss with them. I already have about 5 Keizer’s on my wishlist, so that list just doubled in size. I’m just starting out so the Koenig ‘s are a tad out of reach…. At least until my wife kicks me out
Great set of knives. I have a version of eight of these. My favorite among this group is the Ferrum Forge Stinger. It is definitely one of the best EDC knives in my collection. Another favorite that I just received is the Kizer Original. Mine was perfect out of the box and an exceptional button lock knife at a great price. One knife missing from this set is the We Esprit. The Esprit is close to the perfect knife for me.
Some great choices. I was surprised you didn't include the O.G. Ontario RAT-1 and RAT-2. I know they're dated and somewhat crude compared to more recent makers designs but it's just a PERFECT design imo and of 13 that I've owned including a few similar utilitac-2s (also a FANTASTIC design) every one has come with PERFECT quality control. Every one has had a buttery smooth action, rock solid lock up at 40%-50% and perfectly centered blades. And at about $20 to $30 for AUS-8A models or $45 for D2, they rank at the very top of the value chart. Yes they use nylon handles but the way Ontario textures them they look and feel 90% as good as G-10. Heck the texture on the utilitac-2 feels so good I wouldn't spend more for G-10 if it was available. They're just awesome knives. For anyone unfamiliar with Ontarios knives, check them out. You won't be dissapointed!
@@WaynesSharpWorld - I gotcha. The newer stuff is definitely more refined but imo the RAT design is almost perfect. I would LOVE for Ontario to offer upgraded premium models with premium "super steel" blades, titanium, G-10 and micarta handles and improved fit and finish. I think they would be hugely popular if they did so.
SpydieChef! I'm super late to the game with this one, having only bought it a couple months ago, but for me it is a perfect knife. If I had to have a two knife collection, it would be the SpydieChef and a Victorinox.
Looking to pick up my 2nd edc knife- any thoughts on the kizer begleiter xl? Edit- found review of it. I want the Kizer Original as well but it seems small
I love your choices man! A lot I recognize, many I agree with, and still plenty I hadn’t looked at before! One of my all time favorites that’s pretty close to perfect would be the Urban EDC Supply and Voxnaes F5.5 in m390 and brown micarta. The blade shape, the action, the recessed titanium liners, everything is great. Another would be a Finch Knife Co 1929 in any material!
Nice list, Wayne but no custom knives here? Maybe I missed you saying they were excluded. My favorite knives are ones that I feel the maker has poured themselves into and there's a story behind them. I just got a Rogovets one that I'm in love with and will be doing a review on.
I didn’t purposely exclude customs, I just don’t own any. While I truly appreciate and admire the craft and skill that goes into making a custom, I just don’t get a lot of them on the channel. The good ones though are true works of art! 👌🏼👌🏼🔥🔥🔥
@@WaynesSharpWorld Hey, much respect. I appreciate the effort and skill you display in your videos on the review game. You definitely have me eyeing some stuff.
Sheepdogs are still my fav. I have the larger one with flipper and one without. I have the flipper mini, but haven’t gotten the mini without the flipper.
So glad to her the Keen is getting restocked! Definitely that and the Buc I have always wanted. BM needs to step their game up, the patent just expired and already I’ve seen a couple companies that do a better axis lock than they do.
Love these button locks. I swapped my Begleiter 2 button lock blades and now have a Black Washed blade on the black and red carbon fiber WMK exclusive and it looks sick. Should have had the blade from the factory. Great group of knives. I've got Hogue fever and won't be happy until I own a version of their atlas lock.
Am I crazy, or did I just get two Kizer lemons when I ordered off Amazon? Both the lock faces were not machined properly and the lock ended up failing and giving me a nasty nasty cut to the bone. Least they had a good edge on em 😂😂(The T1 and the pelican from the vanguard series). Love the videos man, but I just won't buy anymore Kizers due to fear of lock failure. 😢
I have to disagree with the Kizer original because the button lock is so flush that it is awkward to fully disengage; because of this you will find yourself pressing it and the blade getting stuck instead of closing nicely. The button lock mini sheepdog on the other hand has a crazy nice action. Effortless button lock use and the heavier blade makes it feel reeeeeally nice.
I appreciate a good list of the hits. I think it might be cool to see a list like this based on a previous year. What knives that were the top of the line 3 years ago are still unrivaled?
Great video mate. Some sweet choices and that you're not a snob about any of them is also great. You claimed all the knives here have excellent ergo's. I'd dispute the Para3. Prolonged and/ or hard use it's incredibly uncomfotable, which is shame.
Amazing list. Kizer has been killing it lately and also killing my wallet. Absolutely love my mini roach. And I just ordered the nightshade yesterday. Can't wait for that one.
That drop keen is something else, such a clean and simple knife, such a shame i can't find any in Australia and there is no way I would get that cleared through customs
That is one hell of a list. In the last few months I have really become hooked on Kizer knives and they have yet to disappoint me. You just added a couple more to my wish list. But I think the next one I'm going to get is that Artisan Cutlery Sirius. That thing checks all the boxes.
Not many Civivi Button Locks here, interesting! I think the Civivi Cogent was my "perfect" knife purchase of the year so far but I'm hoping to get my hands on some of the "axis"-styled and "scorpion"-styled knives that have come out recently. I have a lot of liner and frame lock knives and they aren't best for ambidexterity. You have a lot of great picks here though! 😎👍🏾
I’m not a knife collector, but I do have several knives. I will say the 20.5 is the first knife I have really wanted multiples of. The grivory doesn’t bother me, neither does Aus10a. The clip could benefit from a deep carry design though. Oh and standoff’s. I don’t care for the backspacer. I like to see through my knives and make cleanup easier. You just got another subscriber, too.
I have the brazen, love it, a little too big to carry every day. I'm back & forth between sencut scepter and civivi chronic. I do really like that stinger. I have to say, I own the artisan sirius. I don't like it at all. Don't like front flippers and the side stud isn't big enough for me.
I just put in my order for the Kizer Original w/copper scales and it looks like I should've added the Mini Roach. If my wife doesn't kill me first, my four boys will get the Hogue Deka for Chrismas.
Expensive knives are rad but I’m less likely to really use them for fear of marring a possible collectors item. Knives below $200 are kind of the sweet spot for me. I’ll actually use them and not feel too bad about it.
I must say, I'm quite surprised at just how many Kizers there were on this list. Apparently American companies better step their game up to get your attention. It was nice to see you different takes on this list but I feel some important ones are missing here. Strider Hinderer Chris Reeve
I’ve had too many issues with Hinderer knives. As for CRK, if their thumbstuds were better, there would have definitely been a Zaan and Sebenza on this list. Just can’t stand their TS’s. Never handled a true Strider.
Most surprising thing about this video...my favorite knife fell off your radar in the last year and no longer makes it into your top 28...the Civivi McKenna.
The Atom is an exception because the handles are all the same in terms of shape and design, just material difference. Plus, the Atom is now sold without scales as well, so I’m just specifying what makes it perfect. 😁😂
There is a wavy line that moves down the centre of your green background. I wiped my screen, took off my case and cleaned it becuase I thought there was a pubic hair on my screen. Glad it was your background dude!!
Lol yea it’s a folding mat so I can bring it with me on my travels if I want to.

I thought you’d have the Kizer Genie, or We Black Void Opus on here, or better yet a Peña front flipper
They just missed the cuts! 😁 Still all excellent knives though! 👌🏼👌🏼🔥🔥🔥
@@WaynesSharpWorld Yea, it’s hard to choose when there are so many amazing knives out there right now. Great time to be a collector.
That drop keen is something else, such a clean and simple knife, such a shame i can't find any in Australia and there is no way I would get that cleared through customs
Ahh man, that is a bummer!
That is one hell of a list. In the last few months I have really become hooked on Kizer knives and they have yet to disappoint me. You just added a couple more to my wish list. But I think the next one I'm going to get is that Artisan Cutlery Sirius. That thing checks all the boxes.
Loooove the Sirius! 👌🏼👌🏼🔥
Yea Civivis button locks really are great… just not perfect. 😁
Wait no Penquin??? Not even a QSP that I saw oooffff. Haha. Put a smile on my face knowing the Keen will be dropping again I need one.
The more I think about it, I may have screwed up leaving the Penguin out 🤦🏻♂️
Deka stinger brazen got the nightshade on the way and many kizers.
Right on bro!! Wooohoooo! 🙌🏼🙌🏼🔥🔥🔥
Just tell me where in the video the Demko AD20.5 is so I can skip to it.
Won’t find that one in it.
@@swampk9 thanks bro! 👊🏼🙌🏼
I have the brazen, love it, a little too big to carry every day. I'm back & forth between sencut scepter and civivi chronic. I do really like that stinger. I have to say, I own the artisan sirius. I don't like it at all. Don't like front flippers and the side stud isn't big enough for me.
If you like smaller knives, have you tried the CJRB Ria? That’s a great smaller option.
@@WaynesSharpWorld I looked at it, I prefer flippers to thumb studs.
I just put in my order for the Kizer Original w/copper scales and it looks like I should've added the Mini Roach. If my wife doesn't kill me first, my four boys will get the Hogue Deka for Chrismas.
Lol NICE!! Enjoy it, bro! 🙌🏼
Expensive knives are rad but I’m less likely to really use them for fear of marring a possible collectors item. Knives below $200 are kind of the sweet spot for me. I’ll actually use them and not feel too bad about it.
Couldn’t agree more with that statement!! 👌🏼👊🏼
kizer T1 is freaking awesome!!
Looooove my T1 🔥🔥🔥
@@WaynesSharpWorld Just bought a Kizer T1 from LuvThemKnives for $60. 😍😍🥳🥳
I've made a conscious decision to not buy Chinese. It's really hard sometimes, but plenty of quality American stuff in the knife world.
Oh absolutely! There’s some great Italian made knives as well! 👌🏼
@@WaynesSharpWorld I will even do Taiwan, but I am really trying to go all in on supporting American workers if at all possible.
@@corporalpunish6089 I can respect that! 👊🏼🙌🏼
Mini Adamas or Griptilian is one perfect knife
I do love me a Mini Adamas! 🔥🔥
I must say, I'm quite surprised at just how many Kizers there were on this list. Apparently American companies better step their game up to get your attention. It was nice to see you different takes on this list but I feel some important ones are missing here.
Strider
Hinderer
Chris Reeve
I’ve had too many issues with Hinderer knives. As for CRK, if their thumbstuds were better, there would have definitely been a Zaan and Sebenza on this list. Just can’t stand their TS’s. Never handled a true Strider.
I would go umnanzaan , 940 , houge deka
Most surprising thing about this video...my favorite knife fell off your radar in the last year and no longer makes it into your top 28...the Civivi McKenna.
Still a fantastic knife and one I’ll probably never sell. Just barely missed the cut.
Opinel and fallkniven....
no major modifications allowed.... this Atom is only perfect with the titanium scales... lol
The Atom is an exception because the handles are all the same in terms of shape and design, just material difference. Plus, the Atom is now sold without scales as well, so I’m just specifying what makes it perfect. 😁😂
Hmm…
Not 1 Benchmade on the list 🤦🏻♂️
too much fidgeting with the knives
🤷🏻♂️🙃
