Wait a minute... a 10 foot conversion from stand to full with the rotation is sub par? I guess I have a lot more left in me

Bro what. My stand best is like 29ft and my full throw practice pr is 34’7

in transitioning, if the rotation is about 2-3 feet shorter, consistently, when do you give up? or what is the last thing to click before it pops typically? Awesome content by the way!

Rotational more surprising than the glide? Find that a bit surprising. Many years since I threw, but found the spin much less forgiving of any error.

just learn to break it down. it’s much easier when you focus on the correct technical process and positions. be sure to check out out programs and free rotational shot training💪

In 8th my stand throw max is 38 and my glide which I’ve been working on consistently since 6th grade is 41-5 so your saying I could have thrown 48-50 feet is I used that time working on the spin.😭

Decathletes tend to use the glide... why is that?

I think it is due to the glide needing more leg strength and so with that leg strength they can also do the other events great. The spin also takes longer to learn.

In the video, he mentioned that multi-eventers (decathletes, heptathletes) use the glide as it is easier to learn and that they don't have the dedicated time required to learn the rotational. Also, the glide has fewer chances of foul throws in big meets. I also think that as they are learning many technicalities of all their different events, they would like to keep things simple.

Decathletes have to organize their training time well, the glide is easier and more confident. Moreover, 1 m in the shot put means 60 points, that's about the same as 25 cm in the long jump or 4 m in the javelin. Not to mention the pole vault, which is technically very demanding.
