What an absolutely fantastic touring set-up! These machines make the usual GS options look ridiculously and laughably expensive. Utterly stunning value bikes.
The only bike I’ve ever sold because I had to and not because I wanted to, absolutely bloody loved it, THE best bike I’ve ever owned. Your right though Craig, it carries its weight really well when on the move you only feel it when manhandling it about as it has its weight high up. A brilliant touring machine, I did the Picos mountains down to the south of Spain and back via the Pyrenees in supreme comfort. That is a beautiful example and in immaculate condition, enjoy your time with her. The more the miles the bigger the smiles Craig. 😀👍

It’s a hell of a bike. I’m in the process of doing my 3 1/2 year VFR1200X review for my channel . Not many better bikes out there in its class. Keep up the good work.
I had one of those, it was a 2014 model Crosstourer Highlander in white. I sold it because it was quite tall, I found it very top heavy and the foot pegs kept catching my trouser leg. I sold it before I dropped the bike, which I felt it was inevitable, but it was a fantastic mile muncher. And that engine is just sublime, a torque monster. Enjoy your new machine fella.
Wow, congrats! That VFR looks fantastic. You're going to have some wonderful touring experiences in the future. Enjoy and keep her in that tip top shape. Cheers,
Congrats! She is a beauty. Had a brand new 2017 DCT for 5 months and logged 15,000 miles on her before trading her in for my 2018 GoldenWing DCT, non tour. Missing that V4 and will be looking for another one soon! Ride safe…
You are indeed right! Fantastic-looking rig! The small details done really well. I've got a Super Tenere 1200ES I really like, and even more as the miles pile on. But 1200F/X bikes have always intrigued me. If Honda doesn't wake up and send the NT1100 to the States, I might be looking at one of these next year. Funny how they seem to make more sense today than even when they were still selling new.
I had one of these, a brilliant bike. There are many times, I wish I hadn't sold it. Yours is a great looking package Craig, you will have many happy touring miles on it.
Well that's it now Craig, any tour you want to do and you'll have the comfort to do it. The bike looks great and is in fantastic condition. Good on you pal hope you'll be having many happy miles together 👌👊
Purchased a 2014 Crosstourer Highlander spec in Red last August 2021, did 10,000miles in a year, great bike, great engine, did a solo Wales tour in June 2022, fully loaded with tent etc, coped with everything I threw at it, motorway yomping, narrow single track lanes, wet campsite grass, gravel tracks, steep narrow twisty single track climbs. Managed 53mpg over 1000 miles tour (not riding economicaly either) Also great with pillion, just makes sure you increase the rear preload up a couple of clicks. Some say it's too heavy, but I am 5ft 9 (15stone) and on tiptoe when solo but find the weight manageable. Some negatives though. As you say clunky 1st and 2nd gear, (occasional neutral between 5th & 6th when short shifting) wind turbulance on your head at motorway speeds, seat uncomfortable after 1hr, 16000mile service £770. But to be honest, without spending £15k + , there's nothing else I would rather have. Enjoy
Great review… check the shaft recall has been done as you have a gen-1 there. I’ve had my X-J model since new and in typical Honda fashion it’s never so much as coughed in all the time I’ve had it. Excellent bikes, you’ll love it. 👍
Hi Craig great looking bike and good ride position. I know what you mean about the VFR i had 2006 model loved it. Did what i needed but got to point where weight, age and heavy, as VFR is 218.0 kg (480.6 pounds). is lighter than the 1200. And the VFR is so Photogenic as we both know. But i wanted something newer lighter not as fast as dont need thay no more been there and got T-shirt lol. So i endend up with a KTM390 Adventure 2021 model and as much as i loved my VFR this little bike makes me smile and grin it ticks everything, So you will love your new bike and cant wait for videos with it in. And the French trip too. keep safe.
Hi Craig, I'm bit late congratulating you and Vic on your new bikes so belated ... HAPPY NEW BIKE DAY It looks the business Thanks to u and the lads for the entertainment Enjoy and ride safe me mon.
I do have 2019 manual for 3 years now. It's very underrated bike, but it's a keeper. I would highly recommend MCC cruise control, which I bought last year. Great addition. Also, Hyperpro springs do the job either.
I’m very interested in the MCC cruise control. I’ll be getting that after I install my factory supplied heated grips. Love my VFR1200X - got it brand new in 2020. I installed Hepco & Becker crash bars, led running lights, a radiator guard, kapok throttle lock, Sargent seat, and a rear wheel cover. Looking at Wilbur suspension too.
Congratulation with Your nice machine. Great choice. Am on My second Highlander model with DCT. First was a 2016 now i got a 2020 in red & black. Ive done it all with these including proper offroading in the high mountains of Norway. No problem just put on decent rubber & a proper bashplate. Have the same setup but still use Honda toppbox. Also added a Bagster tankcover to protect that beautiful paintwork. Good luck & enjoy. The Power If Dreams ❤
Congratulations on the new bike. She looks great and nothing beats a new bike day. We also have a few new bikes to reveal over the next month or so. Exciting stuff!
The 1200X is a magnificent bike, and the engine is outstanding, you have a brilliant bike. I recently rode the NT1100 and did well over 100 miles on it and found instantly it was so much lighter, but you a big lad so probably just a little toy for you while I am in mid 60s and not so big as i used to be haha. Many happy ride outs on your bike.
@@Motourev I’m 59 and just completed a tour of Italy on my H2SXSE, brilliant as it is, my ankles were killing me after two weeks and 3000+ miles. That’s now in touring retirement and the Crosstourer can now take that role up😂👍🏽
Thanks for the great review. I bought mine 3 weeks ago and is looking forward to take it for it's first long trip. I was a bit worried about the clunky 1st and second gear but hearing from you that it is normal I am a lot more at ease about it. Had the NC750 which is a very nice bike for fuel economy but the only problem is that in the highways it was a bit low on power if I had all my luggage on it. That problem is however now sorted, this 1200 is a monster in the power division. I feel a lot more at ease on the highways with it. Also the shaft is just so much less trouble on really long trips.
Well done video mate. Adventure bikes are pretty wide and I completely understand why you removed the handguards. Just keep up and drop by when have time.
One thing that's really brilliant about this bike for touring is the shaft drive. The hassle of cleaning up and maintaining a chain drive is a nuisance, don't know why Honda didn't make the NT1100 a shaft drive, big mistake imo. Good luck with the new Honda mate.👍
That's a stunning good looking bike you've bought there my friend hope you have plenty of safe miles on her top marks for the sellar for taking good care of her I always used to look aftery bikes just like that because you work hard to save up so why not look after it it's not hard anyway congratulations and enjoy once again thank you all motorev Boyz
Hello mate I’m just working through your videos and couldn’t agree more on the adventure touring bikes. They do everything and in relative comfort compared to your sports bikes. I’m currently ridinga Super Tenere 1200 and love the size and comfort of it. Love your Honda Cross tourer 🤘🏻
I like the contrast of the white on black with a little splash of red. Nicely done. I don't think I've ever seen a white one here in the States. Happy trails.
@@Motourev It's hard to go wrong with a Honda. I've had three Honda motorcycles, three automobiles that we've driven for at least ten years each and two mowers. I'm a fan. Even if I were to make the same observation I would probably overlook it because I am predisposed to liking it after all of the many years of satisfaction with all of the Honda products that I've owned. I have yet to ride one. Your review motivates me to do so before I give anything else consideration. @@engrcumins9809 go for it mate would be good to see. Honestly it’s the best bike I’ve had and for me it feels better and handles better than the brand new NT1100. Yes it’s a bit heavy to push in the garage but riding it I honestly don’t know what people find heavy, it rides and corners like there’s no weight in it.
Just swapped my VFR200x DCT Highlander which I owned for 6 years from new. Now 67 I was starting to struggle with the top heavy nature of the bike, especially wheeling around. It was beautiful touring around the Picos and Pyrenees but not ideal on the hairpin bends. Swapped it for the latest NC750x DCT. So much lighter and with the fuel lower down much better balance. Still enough power for touring with full Honda luggage. 7,500 miles in a year and no regrets.

I would love to try and join you on one of your trips ,i think it was so commendable how you looked after alby.
Yes mate she will be kept in tip top condition as I use specialist motorcycle products by Autobrite, I would not use anything else to keep her in pristine condition.
I have one as well. I find the clutch to be very heavy to pull. The previous owner added heated grips but that is interfering with how far you can pull the clutch leaver.
Just recently came across your channel after seeing your France tour (was there recently and Luxembourg) . Liking the bike ,if it has the same size tank as the vfr1200 you'll be first to panic 😀, we had 2 stroms and a tiger on our trip , while the vfr rider had 30 miles left , we were still nearing the 100 ! , look forward to seeing more touring on your new toy .
What a brilliant motorcycle! I’ve have a VFR750 and a GS1200 as well…I’d have a VFR1200 instead but they’re as rare as rocking horse sh!t in Saffaland! Enjoy, ride safe and I’m jealous! 😃🏍️💪🇿🇦
Congrats on the new bike, I nearly had one of those myself but the carrying capacity was an issue for me so it was a no go, iirc it doesn’t take a lot to overload them.
Lovely looking machine...congratulations. Thought you'd keep the Viffer 800 a little longer...remember my red one was the quicker one? Funny though, I've been looking at the 1200 crosstourer too but maybe the DCT. Not yet though, my VFR 800 still makes me smile so she's a keeper for now. Congrats again and enjoy your new bike 👍
Hi mate i was looking at these bikes last night, I've found a 17 plate for 7k. It's got me thinking about chopping my bmw k1200rs and ktm duke 390 in for it. Same colour as yours too. Great vlog mate. I think u made my mind up for me.
gorgeous bike I swapped my exhaust out (i have the sportier 8th gen not the crosstourer) just because its so long and hideous it covers that gorgeous single sided swingarm, beautiful bike though
Looks very tidy!!!!! Get some bright bulbs and led side lights in it. Tinted screen, oooooo that can needs to go on, will be a lot lighter just leave the baffle in ❤
Very nice indeed, I looked at getting one a while ago but my wife who tours with me found it a bit of a climb to get on, great for me as 6 ft 2 but for a short arse like her, it put her off.
amazing bike Craig and looks very smart. I love the spoked tubules wheels. that's my only downside to my AT. I get anxiety on long trips as I can't just plug the tyre.
@@Motourev no the 1100 are tubules but mine was the last 1000. its the only problem I have with it but I can't justify spending stupid amounts to go tubules and most of the conversions iv seen havent work correctly

Just came across your vid. The bike looks great and I hope it's still running well for you. Where did you pick up the sat nav mount? I'm looking to pick one up.
I really enjoyed mine while I had it, but I sold it to get into a DR650. I still have a zg1200 for big miles and 2 up riding. I think I might eventually try an Africa twin, or super Tenere . I hope you have plenty of good times on yours!

Beautiful bike. I recall you did a video not long ago about emissions laws in France , does the 2013 bike mean you should be able to tour in France pretty much free of any worries in that department ?
New subscriber,.Just found your channel through this video , as iam also considering getting a crosstourer , there value for money when you compare them to a bmw gs of similar year.
Hi mate. Am test riding a cross tourer on Monday. You still got the sp engineering exhaust might be interested in buying it if its for sale and I buy bike
Its a thing of beauty.....except for the wheels.....if i could change one thing on mine it would be a pair of black powder coated cast wheels.....thought i might be able to put the other (police) VFR'S wheels but apparently only the rear fits. Bugger🏍️💨😸
So it's official then you are an ageing hippie !!!! welcome to the old man's club 🤣🤣🤣 Nice bike mate very pleased for you and adventure tourers may be the way to go but for those of us that are vertically challenged we can't touch the floor on 'em 🤣
I think you've made a great choice, I've always doubted KTM reliability for touring and the GS reportedly is abit boring & clinical. :) I'm considering the 800 version.
Great intro vid fie the 1200x. I've had my eye on these for some time and plan to pick one up maybe next year. Having a limited width to get the bike in the garden is something I also have to contend with. How wide is the Crosstourer bar end to bar end? (If you don't mind measuring 😄 i never seem to get close to one with a tape measure) thanks.

Believe it’s the 21.5L tank
What a brilliant motorcycle! I’ve have a VFR750 and a GS1200 as well…I’d have a VFR1200 instead but they’re as rare as rocking horse sh!t in Saffaland! Enjoy, ride safe and I’m jealous! 😃🏍️💪🇿🇦
@@richardho5955 ❤️🙏🏻
Congrats on the new bike, I nearly had one of those myself but the carrying capacity was an issue for me so it was a no go, iirc it doesn’t take a lot to overload them.
Lovely looking machine...congratulations. Thought you'd keep the Viffer 800 a little longer...remember my red one was the quicker one? Funny though, I've been looking at the 1200 crosstourer too but maybe the DCT. Not yet though, my VFR 800 still makes me smile so she's a keeper for now. Congrats again and enjoy your new bike 👍
❤️👍🏻
Looks like you got a steal there mate,it looks brand new, hope to catch you out sometime ;-)
Ride Safe Mr B \m/
very nice machine mate, i need to start saving for 1 of these beauties.
Lovely bike, stickers set it off, shaft drive! Low maintenance, is that rare on this kind honda?
Hi mate i was looking at these bikes last night, I've found a 17 plate for 7k. It's got me thinking about chopping my bmw k1200rs and ktm duke 390 in for it. Same colour as yours too. Great vlog mate. I think u made my mind up for me.
18 months later mate and still love the bike, amazing machine.
gorgeous bike I swapped my exhaust out (i have the sportier 8th gen not the crosstourer) just because its so long and hideous it covers that gorgeous single sided swingarm, beautiful bike though
Looks very tidy!!!!! Get some bright bulbs and led side lights in it. Tinted screen, oooooo that can needs to go on, will be a lot lighter just leave the baffle in ❤
What clean bike it looks great 👍
Very nice indeed, I looked at getting one a while ago but my wife who tours with me found it a bit of a climb to get on, great for me as 6 ft 2 but for a short arse like her, it put her off.
hi mate i have just sold my vfr800 vtec and brought a tiger 800 so comfy i had to remove my hand gaurds aswell to wide
you enjoy mate
amazing bike Craig and looks very smart. I love the spoked tubules wheels. that's my only downside to my AT. I get anxiety on long trips as I can't just plug the tyre.
I thought your were tubeless
@@Motourev no the 1100 are tubules but mine was the last 1000. its the only problem I have with it but I can't justify spending stupid amounts to go tubules and most of the conversions iv seen havent work correctly
That is one cracking Bike mate. Love that. What a find. That extra 40kgs are because of the quality parts that'll last a lifetime lol. Top Bike mate, you got me looking...
Just came across your vid. The bike looks great and I hope it's still running well for you. Where did you pick up the sat nav mount? I'm looking to pick one up.
A lot of bike for the money.
Good call!!
Enjoy mate from weston riders
made up for you pal its lovely looking👍
Had a cross dresser back in 2015 great ride but dropped it twice its too heavy so it had to go
I really enjoyed mine while I had it, but I sold it to get into a DR650. I still have a zg1200 for big miles and 2 up riding. I think I might eventually try an Africa twin, or super Tenere . I hope you have plenty of good times on yours!
That a beauty 😍 looks like the kawasaki versys I think Honda should of gave you that bike you had for France🇫🇷 😁😝 this one looks beautiful suits you well 🔥🔥🤘 ride safe
Bit late with my comment. I do like your bike, hope it's still going strong and expect ill be having one next.
Beautiful bike. I recall you did a video not long ago about emissions laws in France , does the 2013 bike mean you should be able to tour in France pretty much free of any worries in that department ?
Yeas it will be fine it relates to bikes pre July 2000
Quality over-engineered machine. Hard to imagine Honda will ever make VFRs again.
I know
New subscriber,.Just found your channel through this video , as iam also considering getting a crosstourer , there value for money when you compare them to a bmw gs of similar year.
They are mate built like a tank and they feel solid. I’m very very impressed with it.
Hi mate. Am test riding a cross tourer on Monday. You still got the sp engineering exhaust might be interested in buying it if its for sale and I buy bike
Sold it mate sorry. I love the god damn thing it’s a beast. Let me know how you get on and what you think
Looks a cracking bike Craig , you off to the NEC this year ?
Yes mate
How many miles on the clock it has and what year it is? All the best, looks awesome
Very Good 👍
Its a thing of beauty.....except for the wheels.....if i could change one thing on mine it would be a pair of black powder coated cast wheels.....thought i might be able to put the other (police) VFR'S wheels but apparently only the rear fits. Bugger🏍️💨😸
Agree, cleaning these wheels are a nightmare
Very pretty bike. What case do you have for your phone on there?
Ultimateaddons
great bike, like i say i have the 1200f, cracking bike
So it's official then you are an ageing hippie !!!! welcome to the old man's club 🤣🤣🤣 Nice bike mate very pleased for you and adventure tourers may be the way to go but for those of us that are vertically challenged we can't touch the floor on 'em 🤣
😂😂
nice one mate how the seat hight with us short arses lol
I find it ok, can’t flat foot it but can touch the floor
Hope you have many happy miles together and your wrists and back will also thank you 😊
Did you not fancy another NT1100?
Hi which satnav is that you got there please ?
Garmin Zumo XT
I think you've made a great choice, I've always doubted KTM reliability for touring and the GS reportedly is abit boring & clinical. :) I'm considering the 800 version.
What sort of mileage has the bike done terry
30K
Great intro vid fie the 1200x. I've had my eye on these for some time and plan to pick one up maybe next year.
Having a limited width to get the bike in the garden is something I also have to contend with. How wide is the Crosstourer bar end to bar end? (If you don't mind measuring 😄 i never seem to get close to one with a tape measure) thanks.
I will measure for you
@@Motourev thanks ....
Bike looks awesome with those stickers too. Works really well.
It is better vfr 1200 or NT 1100??
Personally I prefer the vfr as it’s got more grunt and more aggressive acceleration. The NT has more technology but I never used it at all.
You've got a cracker there, you'll eat miles on that.
Wouldn't want to pay for a big service;-)
Never will
@@Motourev Good move;-)
@@jetrex1986 will move it on before it’s due 😂
well ,that was honest
Love the god damn thing 😂
