I did the previously impossible yesterday! Yesterday, on the way to visit my MIL she asked for some ginger ale and floss. The only thing around without adding a ton of time - was a Target! So I went inside telling myself not to get sucked in to anything else and while I noted some adorable Easter decor and some very unhealthy snacks- neither my husband nor I gave in to temptation! We had zero buyers remorse hours later which was a first after leaving a Target. I credit this channel for the strength to stay away from the dollar section. No remorse, no extra money spent, and nothing in my house I would end up giving away anyway. Thank you!!!
I just found your channel and I really like it. I am going thru my house like crazy, and giving away lots of stuff. It has amazed me how much stuff I kept in case I would need it. When I go into a store now, I am much more aware of how they are trying to get me to buy lots of cutesy, but unneeded stuff. I am much more careful about what I buy, and I realize that shopping was sort of a hobby thing, Buying something new was a bit of a thrill. But it is so temporary! I am also "undecorating" my house, so it has a less cluttered feeling. It really makes a difference! I always felt I had so much work to do. Now I wake up and everything looks peaceful, light, and clean. Wow!!
We are a non toxic household, I do not have high heels but I would actually like a pair of plain kitten heels. I do use a clear nail polish, since nails are thin, children are way grown, I like the scents from my herb garden. I cut Hub’s hair and trim mine, learned during Covid, never diffused, do not burn candles. I cannot wait to return to the gym. Since we are senior seniors , it was an important part of our life. No sugar drinks for us, we make all foods at home, we like it better. We do buy in bulk, since we live in a remote area in Montana. I use what i buy, and buy what we use. I am very pleased with how well we plan and save money. I purchase only basics. We are both tall and thinnish senior seniors. I use warm flannel nightgowns. Eucerine is a good product, great in our dry climate. Since we mask, I have not used any makeup. We use natural elements to celebrate seasons, no craft store cutesy! We try to keep our consumerism to the absolute minimum. I have bought all white linens for many years.
I am so happy to see your laundry supplies. I am going non-toxic in my home. I use vinegar instead of fabric softener, wool dryer balls instead of dryer sheets and non-toxic detergent. I still use color safe bleach. I am swapping out my cleaning supplies slowly to ones that are not toxic. I never realized how toxic all these name brand cleaners are.
I've had two friends whose houses burned because they used candles, so no candles for me! I learned that the ingredients in nail polish actually harm your nails, so stopped wearing nail polish of any kind and found that my pathetic nails became strong and beautiful all by themselves! Nice list.
I have FINALLY found a style (home decor) that I can live with forever (all thrifted). And I also finally completely widdled down our christmas decor to 1-2 containers of classy simple decor. Before i had several tubs of stuff and would buy more each year. Great video!
Love your channel! Just began watching. THIS video had me pause it - got rid of 10 bottles of nail polish and continued watching for more minimalistic ideas!!
I love that your minimalism style is simple and pretty and just all around approachable for anyone. And I love how you don’t share that you want to live more sustainable but a lot of your habits (buying second hand, not being wasteful, etc...) are very sustainable!
Completely agree! I’ve tried several times to get on board with the essential oils obsession, but neither me or my family like them. I love the coziness and ambiance candles give off. 👍🏻
@@jjjks5 Yeah, I’m tired of EOs. Some of them don’t even smell all that great for the price you have to pay for them. With a candle they’re quiet, cozy and most of them have amazing scents that aren’t too “in your face”.
To freshen the car, I got a tree or similar car freshener, and when it ran out put a few drops of essential oil on it instead. Makes the car smell great and it's customizable to what I like to smell.
Hello! I am SO happy I found your channel (just recently) and you’ve inspired me to become a minimalist!! I love your honesty, your real life experiences, and energy. Thanks for all the awesome ideas. I started decluttering my house and it already feels more airy and I’m loving organizing because I’m not as stressed, but still have a long way to go, but your videos will guide me through
On high heels: more than 30 years ago I "declared" (to anyone who would listen!) that I would no longer wear high heels. They were uncomfortable (for me), and I had seen too many pix of women's worn/injured/awful shoes and the damage they often caused . I remember reading one particular article detailing these maladies that literally made me cringe, and vowed from that moment forward NEVER to be one of those women or own any of those feet! Yet somehow, I have gotten successfully thru life!
You can always use baking soda to get scents out of carpets, especially in the car. Or wax melts, the left over wax from a candle. Put it in a glass container, in your cup holder. As the temperature rises, it let's out some of the scent from the wax. As it cools, it will solidify, but next time it's warm, you use it again.
I don’t own high heels either! I’ve been minimizing my life and I realized I don’t need them. I could never walk in them and I work from home now! Thanks for making this video
Like you, I only use either Jergens or Dove soap in the shower and bath, and it works for shaving and facial cleansing as well. Then I just use Lubriderm body lotion for my face and body. I would love to see a video of what you do for your make up routine as my makeup is minimal to non-existent. Thanks for sharing and putting yourself out there. 😊
Yes - a small amount of conditioner shaves great. Leaves skin softer and more moisturized than soap. I'm with you on the soap for showing instead of shower gels or body wash. I never got into those.
Oh I agree with you on so many points. I dislike car fresheners as well, they smell too chemically to me. Also no to too much makeup, too much seasonal decor, to all the body washes, body sprays, and nail polish I rarely wore... I feel like we’re that key demographic that we let ourselves be sucked into the consumption for these things!
Thank you for sharing . Wow such a long list . It’s made me have a good long think about changes I can make ..thanks . I tell you what I would buy in abundance though if you could bottle it and sell it ..is your enthusiasm . 👍🏻💛
I have found essential oils to be healthier to breathe than many candles and they can purify the air. The key is to not over buy or buy what you don't need. 🍊🍋🍈 Simply getting lemon, lavender, orange and peppermint with a diffuser may be all someone needs if they are working on minimalism.
Baking soda saved my car when we spilled water on the floor, and it was so stinky!!! I put an open jar full of baking soda in the cup holder and it was a little miracle!! I keep the covered jar in the car all the time, and take the lid off when the car has an odor :-) Thanks for your videos! Lots of encouraging ideas!!
Have you ever done a video about your "on camera" makeup? I am fair skinned like you and would be interested in what products you use. You always look wonderful.😊
Just watched a couple of your videos and subscribed! I love your energy! We are slowly becoming empty nesters (4 girls) with only a 17yo who just graduated. We moved twice last year and have been going through boxes and bins - getting rid of things and decluttering, keeping only things we are actively using. As we pull out seasonal items, we are going through them, still have lots to do and we still struggle in a lot of areas, but we are getting better at it all the time. A few years ago, I started making more of our snacks and baked goods in order to decrease our sugar intake so I like to make my own lower sugar/gluten-free snacks and baked goods, greek yogurt, homemade jerky, peanut butter, and mayonnaise. We grow our own herbs and some vegetables and recently got chickens (we'll see how that goes!). I cut/color my hair and the girls' hair when they ask. I am working on decluttering tables and shelves with the idea of 3 items or fewer on a table or surface. I just switched to Laundry Detergent Eco Sheets (no big bottle that cannot be recycled) and we have used wool dryer balls for years. We recycle and compost as much of our trash as we can. We love to craft and knit, so that is a major area that I need to declutter and organize better. I did make a promise that I wouldn't buy any more yarn until I start working through my supply on hand.
For the car smelling better...My husband and I have a no eating in the car policy which helps. But with littles make sure all trash is taken out at every stop or each time you get home. Vacuum up bigger messes immediately and maintenance vacuum weekly. Put windows down when parked once in awhile for air circulation. These tips might help to lessen odors. 💜
Can I just say, your videos make my heart happy! 🥰 I just love all your videos, your personality, and your aesthetic. I would love to see how you organize your clothes because I'm sure it'll look so pretty.
I can’t bring myself to cut my oldest son’s hair. It’s so thick and curly but I take him to the cosmetology school in our town. It’s super cheap for a hair cut ($10) and it gives the students the practice and hours they need to graduate. Double win! I also have invested in gym clothes and go to PF. I’m an avid weight lifter so until I can save the money to buy the really expensive bars, machines and equipment, it’s worth it to me to pay 23 a month to use the gym four to five times a week. But I agree with you on everything else!! Love the videos ❤️
I agree! I have a tiered tray in our kitchen and I have a few little seasonal things for it that I rotate out occasionally. But that’s it. I used to go nuts with decorations for all of the holidays but I’ve learned it’s a waste of money and causes me stress too.
Having many serious allergies, I find that I can’t even go into someone’s home if they use/have scented candles, air fresheners, Febreeze, hairspray, scented laundry items, diffusers, diffuser sticks, body sprays, non-natural perfumes, scented cleaning products (especially spray cleaners), lots of improperly-stored books, or mold. If I do go into such a house, I could likely leave via ambulance. There are more people like me than you might think, and if a toxic home can make me dangerously ill, it stands to reason it can make everyone else somewhat ill.
We used to take advantage of after Christmas sales. But I found that we often ended up getting too much or getting something different for people instead of what we'd bought after Christmas, thus ending up with bins full of gifts that went to no one. Also, wrapping paper and gift bags. I donated some of the items to the thrift store in January. I didn't want to overload them with Christmas items in January though, so I put a note on the remaining bins: Get rid of by Christmas 2021. And then my hubby went to a sale and bought stuff for nobody in particular for next Christmas...baby steps. I put it all in my bins with the rest and I'm going to consider it items we can donate.
This may sound like a silly request, but I love your hair! I recently cut mine and it’s about the same length as yours. I’d love to see a video on how you do your hair. :) P.s. I’m 💯 percent with you on the candles! They’re so cozy.
My list of what I don't buy is so similar to yours! I have cut way down on buying items and decluttered so much in my home. Your videos are inspiring! I would love to see your minimalist make up collection.
Love this video! High heels are highly uncomfortable, but nothing makes one look more dressed up and put together than high heels. I love highly scented body sprays. I'm very aware that people have allergies and just don't like certain scents so I've cut back on using body scents as well as using scents in my home. Mrs. Meyers makes scent sachets made from essential oils that aren't very expensive and can be I used in your car. Happy Spring !
I make my own make up removal pads. They wash beautifully and are very economical. You could too consider buying a second hand sewing machine for mending, upcycling, repairing, altering clothing. Sewing is the best hobby ever. Thanks for your time.
Please do a video about makeup in particular. I’m one of those people that wants every new release. It’s the one thing I’m really struggling with. I’d love to know how you changed your mindset for it (especially limited edition FOMO!) and what you use now
My favorite bar soap is Pears and I get it at the dollar store as it is cheapest there. This is a glycerin soap and it has no harsh stuff in it and I wash my face too. Thanks for sharing i wrote out the list to consider what can i do away with.
High heels are a no! Wedges all the way!!! Love this video and agree on so so much that you said. And yes yes yes to your minimalist makeup collection!!!
Something I don't buy anymore is all-purpose cleaner in a spray bottle. It's like 90% water so what's the point. I buy a big bottle of concentrated all-purpose cleaner, pour a little amount in an empty spray bottle and fill up with water, and I clean everything with it (floors, counters, surfaces, etc) P.S.: I just found your channel and I love your videos! You give so many useful advices and you're so friendly and nice! ^.^ Best wishes 😊
I love wedges. I have had a love / hate relationship with heels. Looks great but so uncomfortable. I’m bad I started up doing my nails. The way I love myself. I’m totally into 2nd hand especially to help environment and of course pocketbook. I love perfume but I started buying one and use it until finished. Start to cut hair at home because of pandemic and now think too expensive to even go to little neighborhood shop.I enjoy candles more may not smell as strong but I like the flickering lights. I cleared out a lot of glassware too.I’m trying to make my Starbucks drinks at home to save now. I buy magnets as souvenirs. I love textiles but I also gave up buying pattern towels lately too
I can’t remember the last time I wore heels. Probably my wedding almost 17 years ago. They’re just not comfortable for me and I’m clumsy enough with my feet flat on the ground lol
Glad to see more people stop using scented laundry products, no one seems to realize that some people are actually allergic and find it painful to be around perfume-y clothes!
I have a couple of pairs of shoes that have little heels on them. I can't stand high heels and that junk. I do like my wax melts, defusers, and candles. Food cans can be used for so many different things: weights for working out, weights for holding something down. My mother had to be in traction and we had one at home she used. We used canned goods for the weights. I too am a homebody. I only go out when I absolutely have to. One of those is going to work. I use my Snoopy Halloween and my Rudolph Christmas mugs, year round. I wear some of my holiday clothing year round. I will wear them under other clothes for extra layers, and even as sleep wear.
I pretty much have never bought any of the things you have listed. (not for myself) and if iv ended up with a set of body sprays, it will have been a birthday gift......only exception is shoes! I'm a massive shoe lover!! xxx
I make my own lower waste/cost laundry booster with Epsom salt, baking soda, and light essential oil (optional) for scent. It works better than unstoppables and so much more affordable.
I’ve really enjoyed your channel, so motivating!!!! I totally cut out buying magazines!!! I would grab several when I was in the checkout line..... probably would spend $40 a month just on silly magazines……😬
When you are finished with magazines, please donate them to your Middle School art class. We used to have magazines and newspapers for projects, but people don’t buy many anymore. 👍👩🏻🎨❤️
I figured out as well its not worth buying bulk in the long term. Plus it gets in your way of freely choose what you want to eat since you are just forced to use them up. Made me frustrated.
Thank you so much for the Lavanila perfume recommendation! I have been on a quest to find a perfume that I absolutely love the scent of, and also one that doesn't gives me headaches. I tried out the grapefruit vanilla scent and it smells absolutely beautiful! I tried some on and asked what my husband thought of it. He said " It's good! You smell like an ice cream parlor." Haha - that's just what I was going for - a scent that is soft and sweet. 🍨
I don’t buy seasonal decor anymore. I burn candles, although I was given a diffuser. I have recently decluttered my entire closet. Took a lot of clothes and shoes etc to Goodwill. Trying to get my husband on board to do the same. ( he keeps everything )
Dryer sheets leave a residue on clothes...they were originally made to stop static cling but most people think they need them all year round when dry climates or winter months are when the are to be used..
You’re my favorite to watch! You motivate me so much and are so down to earth! Like literally. Being so realistic of what we need and making use of so much with so little!
Love your videos!! Wondering if you can do a cooking & meal planning video? Always looking for minimal new recipes with few ingredients!! Keep the videos coming!!
Love to see what make up you are down to. I am down to foundation, powder, blush, 3 different makeup brushes, under eye cover up. That’s it. All but foundation, powder, under eye cover up came from my daughter.
Allergies, eczema and asthma here. Prefer essential oils to make my own cleaning products. Try to avoid chemicals. Can't tolerate candles...prefer essential oils. Dryer balls, Tru Earth laundry sheets and hydrogen peroxide. Very rarely I use bleach tablets. 🌞
I haven't worn heels since my wedding 7 years ago...I do still have 1 pair of black heels that I keep because I'm sure sometime in the future I will need them. I burn candles too! I got rid of my essential oil diffusers because they can be harmful to pets. I don't want to risk it. Love EO scents though they are lovely.
In my MOPS group we made car fresheners with those little wool balls (the ones you see on garlands) and a few drops of essential oil. Then the little tiny clothes pins to pin them to your air vent in the car. We put 3 on a little thread that had a little tassel at the end. Looked cute and smelled great! You don’t need many drops at all. It may not seem it still first, but the scent can be really strong once it’s closed up in the car.
FYI I use cream rinse to shave my legs with. I always seem to use up my shampoo before my cream rinse, so I just use it to shave with to use it up. Try it.
Agree with you on all of the things you mentioned in the video. I too have changed my ways and my shopping, it is all good. Love the fragrance you use, thank you for recommending it, I did get it and just love it. Good on you for doing what you do and sharing these things.
I only buy white bath towels and washrags. I have red and white dish towels and dishclothes. I have patterned plates, but if I ever need to buy new, I will buy solid white, so even if I changed decor the plates would work.
Essential oils on an old dryer ball, works to freshen up your car. Just put the dryer ball in your cup holder or anywhere really and you have a car that smells just how you like it.
I used to LOVE to buy my kids secondhand clothes...and then my daughter turned into a teenager! She is so picky and will barely wear anything I even pick out so I don’t waste my money! 🤣 She sends me hyperlinks of the exact clothes and colors she wants for holidays and birthdays.
for car freshner, use rechargeable bamboo charcoal bags. it absorbs smells. I used in my house to get rid of dead mouse in wall smell and it worked great. I bought mine on amazon.
I like candles for scents/coziness but oils are different better for health and have tons of beneficial properties. Scents are physical things entering your body. Oils can bring zen too.
Instead of car air freshener, maybe essential oil. I have a lot of different oils I bought for a diffuser, I could keep it in my car and apply a few drops on a cotton ball and keep in the console

Love this video👍❤
So true!
Wish I learned this years ago.
I just happened to see they are making free and clear color safe bleach recently, That was a big surprise!
I cannot stand the feeling of dry sheet product on towels/clothing. I love the crunchy feel of air dried clothes or simply drier dried items
I used dryer balls but found i still had a lot of static. Do you have this problem and if not did you do something to help with it?
@@trackydoo I put a drop of essential oil on the dryer balls. Using vinegar as fabric softener helps a lot with static.

I put it all in my bins with the rest and I'm going to consider it items we can donate.
yes baby steps!!
This may sound like a silly request, but I love your hair! I recently cut mine and it’s about the same length as yours. I’d love to see a video on how you do your hair. :)
I will look for those for my car!! Thank you!!! And I agree about the heels. They are SO PRETTY!
I’d love to know how you changed your mindset for it (especially limited edition FOMO!) and what you use now
Yes, please a makeup video. Love the shirt today. Where is it from?
My favorite bar soap is Pears and I get it at the dollar store as it is cheapest there. This is a glycerin soap and it has no harsh stuff in it and I wash my face too. Thanks for sharing i wrote out the list to consider what can i do away with.
Oh awesome! Thanks for the tip!
High heels are a no! Wedges all the way!!! Love this video and agree on so so much that you said. And yes yes yes to your minimalist makeup collection!!!
Wedges are SO much more comfortable! And I'll post my makeup collection soon!
I use rosewater and lavender water...it's non toxic and smells heavenly!I spray it in my house too!
There’s these scent bags that smell phenomenal!! You just place them wherever and have cute designs !
Yes please, would love to see your makeup routine.
your fashion sense is on point!!!!
Something I don't buy anymore is all-purpose cleaner in a spray bottle. It's like 90% water so what's the point. I buy a big bottle of concentrated all-purpose cleaner, pour a little amount in an empty spray bottle and fill up with water, and I clean everything with it (floors, counters, surfaces, etc)
P.S.: I just found your channel and I love your videos!
Our library gives away magazines after a certain time...most articles are timeless...
I get magazines digitally from the library. Ours has many of my favorites.
I would love to see your minimalist makeup collection 😍
During the pandemic I started cutting my hair & my hubby’s too. Saved lots of time & money. I also use only white towels. Saves time & looks so fresh.
Oh, and also.....I am loving the content of your videos! I am so glad I found you on UA-cam.
i love wax warmers, especially the ones with lights...
I don’t buy seasonal decor anymore.
I burn candles, although I was given a diffuser. I have recently decluttered my entire closet.
Took a lot of clothes and shoes etc to Goodwill.
Trying to get my husband on board to do the same. ( he keeps everything )
My hubby likes to keep SO much, too!! But he's gotten better about getting rid of stuff the more I've decluttered!
Dryer sheets leave a residue on clothes...they were originally made to stop static cling but most people think they need them all year round when dry climates or winter months are when the are to be used..
I like diffusers with essential oils. I feel like it’s healthier and cost effective.
Minimalist makeup collection video please!❤️
Yes please ❤️💄
You’re my favorite to watch! You motivate me so much and are so down to earth! Like literally. Being so realistic of what we need and making use of so much with so little!
Thank you so much!!
It’s really just changing your mindset over time isn’t it. I am trying to get better at being more minimal.
Oils, ugh... total budget buster! I even decluttered my candles.
OMG I love your green and white top!
YES! ID LOVE A MAKEUP VIDEO. YOU LOOKED DO PERFECT IN A PINK OUTFIT AND LOVELY LIPSTICK....ON ANOTHER "I DONT BUY" VIDEO.
Love your videos!! Wondering if you can do a cooking & meal planning video? Always looking for minimal new recipes with few ingredients!! Keep the videos coming!!
Yes I would like to see your minimal makeup routine!
Coming soon!
I also LOVE dryer balls!
I would love to see the makeup video. I am really inspired by your videos. Can’t wait to get started 😊
Yes I would love to see your video on your minimilist make-up. Thank you. 🤩
Not buying fabric softener & dryer sheets have really saved my budget too!!
Dryer balls , wool and natural plastic ones. 👍
Essential oils!!! Candles have so many hazardous ingredients in them.
FYI I use cream rinse to shave my legs with. I always seem to use up my shampoo before my cream rinse, so I just use it to shave with to use it up. Try it.
I do, too! Silky smooth!
Same
All juices have tons of sugar. Just bought a juices, we make our own fresh juices. Love it
Agree with you on all of the things you mentioned in the video. I too have changed my ways and my shopping, it is all good.
Love the fragrance you use, thank you for recommending it, I did get it and just love it. Good on you for doing what you do and sharing these things.
Glad you loved it!!!!
I don't like either I love to collect candles. I have a diffuser and tons of candles however I rather wax warmer or natural air from opening the door
I burn candles - I worry that the defuser will ruin my furniture.
I use Mrs. Meyers to clean our home and love the lavender scent.
Thanks for sharing!! I LOVE Mrs. Meyers, too!! The Mint scent is my fave!
I love burning candles!
They are SO cozy!
I only buy white bath towels and washrags. I have red and white dish towels and dishclothes. I have patterned plates, but if I ever need to buy new, I will buy solid white, so even if I changed decor the plates would work.
I love your plate tip!!
Essential oils on an old dryer ball, works to freshen up your car. Just put the dryer ball in your cup holder or anywhere really and you have a car that smells just how you like it.
BRILLIANT! Thanks!
Love diffusing essential oils! Yes, to white towels only.
What is your favorite to diffuse?
So many good things to ponder. I will be watching this one again soon.
When your teen is old enough, she can babysit or have another job. It will really limit her wants when it's her money. Tina
Magnetic meal planner looks cool...very simple!
I know this is an old video but im new to the channel and for the car you could get some wood and use the essential oils if youve kept any
Hey. I use my bath and body works sprays that I don't use or get them from the yard sales for my car❤
for car freshner, use rechargeable bamboo charcoal bags. it absorbs smells. I used in my house to get rid of dead mouse in wall smell and it worked great. I bought mine on amazon.
Yes to makeup video!
Coming soooon!
I like candles for scents/coziness but oils are different better for health and have tons of beneficial properties. Scents are physical things entering your body. Oils can bring zen too.
Yes please would love to know your makeup routines 💜
Instead of car air freshener, maybe essential oil. I have a lot of different oils I bought for a diffuser, I could keep it in my car and apply a few drops on a cotton ball and keep in the console
