Yep, we know that sound for sure. It goes up like a siren, holds for about 8-10 seconds, then it climbs down with a growl at the end. We heard two of them, possibly hunting, in Washington. I was camped well outside Sumpter Oregon in the Elk Cap area. I was at the farthest end of a road near a gate. There is hundreds and hundreds of square miles of national forest into John Day area. Undeveloped swath of about 1/3 of the state. Im just below 3800 ft the edge of a steep thick forrested hillside of white fir, alpine fir, blue spruce hillside No one around. Im in my chair at camp, sunny peaceful very still summer day when a Hollow, echoing tremendous bang occurs. It had to be an eight or ten inch diameter log swung basebal-bat-like full whallop against a standing tree. No snapping branches before or after. I stood to see if any commotion could be seen but nothing. It came from the steep hillside across a narrow ravine. I saw nothing, no more episodes. It was an interesting deal because I remembered that 19 years ago, the only other time id been in that area i was camped at the farthest Forest Service Campground on Phillips lake in my RV. I was with a friend who wasnt as experienced in the outdoors as myself. Ive seen amd heard all the animals of the northwest. Heard a wolf high in the Salmon La Sac area....wow, that was a thrill. Anyway, we went out to look at the stars when as soon as we opened the door a hideous screaming laugh-like sound, like a banchie siren....just creepy, very loud, very sharp and seemingly quite nearby. I said it was most likely an owl.....but to be honest i wondered if maybe a cat of some kind, i tried to downplay it but that was a CREEPY noise. It wasnt from a human, too much power. Ive heard screaming cougars before. I told myself it was likely a bobcat, maybe in heat. Anyway, my only time in life to hear that particular sound......then 19 years later an echoing, reverberating, powerful smack of a tree onto a tree with more force than gravity could provide.....hmmmm
Sometimes I have a hard time sleeping at home after watching some of his videos. I can't begin to describe how I will never go into the woods at all let alone at night. No way José!!!!
Hey Chris, I own an old mountain home with two cousins and a brother in Sierra City, our grandfather was a gold miner born in 1886 and he and my grandmother met at the Blairsden Hotel way back in the day and married and made their home in Sierra City. I have been all over the Lakes Basin region, up on top of the Sierra Buttes and I will honestly say, something is there that defies all explanation! I heard some people had made some audio tapes of a possible Sasquatch conversation, very interesting! I have heard many strange sounds over the years!👍
Great storyteller, Chris. As I enjoy my morning coffee in a San Diego Park I imagine Bigfoot jogging on the nearby harbor tributary. Funny how one's imagination works.

Great story, Chris! Yep, Bigfoot I'd say. I didn't see a physical bigfoot, but I was scared by knocking sounds. It took 40 years, after seeing a video that featured knocking sounds, for me to put it all together. Knocking sounds and telepathic communication. I thought it had to be some kind of illusion.
Hey Chris! When I was 12 (a good guess) we were hiking around Wapiabi caves, this is Alberta Canada. I remember we seen some barefoot tracks in the mud, middle of nowhere. Very large tracks. I took a photo with the disposable camera I had with me but it didn’t turn out. The risk you take! Haha! I have the memory but no proof. Love your channel!
Wow. This experience you just shared is pretty amazing. No wonder you got more & more curious after seeing something that really can't be easily explained. Also, when you showed that aerial view of the lake where you mapped out the footprints on your computer... did anyone else think that the shape of the lake resembles a right foot?!? Maybe my imagination is going a little overboard. 😀 Great story, Chris. One of my favorites so far!
WOW Chris! That's so scary, how you have the courage to go outside your tent after hearing those noises is beyond me. Looking forward to Dr. Meldrum's report on those footprints. KH!
I really liked hearing your story, and I can't wait to hear the other one! I was thinking that probably a lot of people might come across those footprints and just try to normalise it in their minds, like, yeah, it's perfectly normal that a child should be walking alone, barefoot, out in the middle of the woods, while it's raining. 🤪
I am excited for more gear reviews. My 13 year old son and i are avid backpacking fans. Lately i don't let him watch your channel because i don't want him to be afraid of the woods.
I tell my kids about EVERYTHING that could potentially harm them. Being PREPARED is being FORWARNED. And being FOREWARNED is knowledge that might save a life. I can understand wanting to hold on to the wonderment of nature and the peace and serenity it can bring, along with the innocence of youth. But two heads are better than one when you're a team out there. Why should you be the only one with this knowledge? And what if he finds out later that you KNEW but didn't tell him? Honesty is ALWAYS the best policy. Keeping potentially dangerous things hidden is why the world is in the state it is in now. Take the risk and be honest with him. I believe he'd respect you for that. It would show him that you trusted him enough with the information to tell him. Just MHO. Best of luck and many years of peaceful backpacking experiences to you both.
I have been backpacking for twenty plus years. My son has been with me for 10 years. He was afraid of moths at the beginning. We have come a long way from there. We deal with coyotes bears and squirrels lol. Dont judge untold legends untill they are proven real.
We talk about realistic woods encountering. It's not something that goes bump in the night. I just wanted to make chris realize his channel has future people who watch his channel. Even if Bigfoot was a deal in the woods, it's not a bigger threat than a grizzly bear.
Another excellent story Chris. You said you "were on the border of concern..." with all the howling and when "it" was outsideyour tent....I can easily say I'd have been paased the border, jumped in my car and gone home! 😂 dont know how you solo camp but glad you share your experiences and those of others. I truly think it was a juvenile bigfoot.
I remember attending summer camp at Lake Tahoe and hearing those loud footsteps outside of the huge tent where we were sleeping. I asked to go home the next day.😵💫
HI Chris. I watched your videos of your encounters in Lassen National Park. I grew up in the Lassen and Plumas and Shasta County area. In 1977, a hunting buddy and I had an encounter at Brokeoff Meadows. That is on the very edge of Lassen Park. It was close to face to face with Sasquach. Very scary.
Good morning, Chris, I'm a new subscriber, and have been enjoying many of your past postings over the past couple of weeks. I cannot tell you how much I've been enjoying your amazing accounts. Today's beer, Trail Pass Golden from Sierra Trading, sounds really good. I like beer that tastes like champagne. And today's accounts of your experiences are fascinating! Thanks for helping us look outside the box.
I LOVE 💕💕💕 this channel and the way you tell stories. I love the way you added in the sound effects in now. I go into the woods turn on your stories and sit by the fire pit. That is the emerse yourself type story telling adventure.
Wow Chris. Dr. Meldrum's looking at your footprint photos? Awesome. His book, Sasquatch meets Science (may have that title turned around) convinced me these creatures are real.
Wow. Well, I figured you must have had firsthand experiences to have such a dedicated channel on the topic. Thanks for sharing. As often as you camp and hike in the mountains, I'd pretty much expect it. Right now I have task lights, small flashlights, and a great multi-light headlamp for my camping experiences coming up. I'm going to add a strong bright light that goes deep in the night... for just in case.
You can get some Solar Lights that light when Motion is detected. Just charge them good before you go Camping. You can put them around your Camp to help keep Predators away.
Thanks again 👍Love getting the early posting out here on P.E.I. There is a video of a sasquatch from here taken by some film students. It looks quite real to me
Always a joy listening Chris and this was extra special with your own account. I think once you have truly experienced Bigfoot you are a believer and a fan. Thanks for sharing.
Chris I have the same exact heater...they are awesome.. Another great story Chris. I have always been on the edge of caution when it comes to Bigfoot...but so many people have had these experiences it does peak my interests. Love your story and look forward to them every Sunday.
Your story is amazing and scary. You are so brave to stay, I would have packed up with the first howl 😂 I love the outdoors, but with as many stories as I've heard, there is most definitely something in the woods! KEEP HIKING 😊
Great Story, Chris. Thank you for sharing. I think it probably was a Bigfoot. I have heard one Howl. They are So Loud, its unbelieveable, and Everthing else goes Dead Silent, but Coyotes Always seem to be nearby. Take Care and Stay Safe out there. 🙏🙏🙏
Gee Chris, why doesn't Jeanine go camping with you sometime? That would be fun! I definitely believe that the footprints that you found are indeed Bigfoot's! 👣👣👣👣👣👣👣👣👣👣👣👣👣 Keep Hiking Chris!
The good thing about most of the bigfoot stories on your site, including this one of your own, is that they are not over the top. To me, that lends credibility to the experience and your conclusions. Thanks for the interesting subject matter.
Thank you so very much, Chris, for all the hard work you do bringing us such a fantastic program! The encounters are always awesome, and you do such an amazing job making us feel just like we're right there in it with them! And the scenery is always breathtaking. Cheers 🍻 and thank you so much ❤️
Good to see you again Chris! This is such a treat every Sunday you have amazing stories. I am amazed at your story. You really had me on the edge of my seat! Lol. Coming from you makes this story excitable and intriguing. I have to say that you are one courageous guy and fantastic story teller! Can't wait for the next one!!! Stay safe ❤
Thanks Chris. Great story. Great pictures. Well told. Being from the midwest and surrounded by corn fields, I have never seen anything related to Bigfoot. Not quite enough timberland in my area. There are large wooded areas a few hours away in neighboring states. Extremely interesting subject. Have watched and read many reports. Fairly certain they are out there. No doubt about it.
I remember when you shared this experience a while back. And how cool is it that your prints are being looked at by someone with such great authority! Keep us posted on the outcome of this, please. As always, many blessings and hike on! Jules 😊
That sound Chris is the famous Ohio Howl as recored by Matt Moneymaker around 1994 in Columbiana County, OH. Dogs barked in his recording also. There is some kind of synergy between the Bigfoots and coyotes sometimes. Numerous others have recorded the same sound. I heard it July 4th time frame of 2011 about 2 pm at night while on the porch of my sisters cabin on Round/Indian Lake, in Iosco County, MI. It was a long ways away but it was deep and really carried coming from the Huron National Forest. The next year in late September, same place, my wife heard same type of sound. I knew what it was at that time. Those 6 inch footprints are really good and quite deep for a youngster. And that they have no straddle is a huge indicator of a Saquatch child in your case, Chris. I have found singular footprints, mostly in SW, Ohio. However finding an outstanding trackway in the new snow, that had just been made just after a 20 inch snowfall, first Saturday of February 2011 was by far my best find. It was about 3/8 of a mile down the road, Latham Lane, of my sisters cabin again. Took my 2 Golden Retrievers for a walk toward the forest. Last house before the forest was the trackway, which darn near anyone else would have given little thought to. Lathan Lane had just been snow plowed maybe an hour earlier. I stopped and followed that trackway fearing my dogs would follow and mess it up as they love snow. The tracks were much larger than my size 12 snowmobile boots and in a straight line going towards the house. About 50 to 75 feet from the road, the subject went over a 4 to 5 foot cyclone fence in just one step. It made a few more tracks on that side of the fence and then crossed back over to the road. I assume it then went back into the forest. To my amazement my dogs did not follow. Instead they stayed on the road and barked at me continuously for that 10 minutes and when I got back to them they ran off to my sisters house. I was aware years ago that dogs are useless for following a Bigfoot trail, and simply want nothing to do with them. My case confirmed this. Wish I could have videod it, however I had a flip phone at the time with no camera. Really like you channel Chris, keep the cases coming. Chuck.
Loved your story Chris. I can't wait each week for your story (stories) as you are such a good storyteller. I, too am a storyteller, but not Bigfoot. My niche is Female Soldiers of the Civil War and first person Clara Barton. I truly enjoy your channel. Keep up the great work that you do. I know how much effort you put into your videos. Some people might believe that having a channel and filming videos is so easy; however, it is not simple. Thank you again for this enlightening story.
Chris thank you for sharing your experience with us, that was quite the encounter you had without actually seeing a Bigfoot. I heard some strange sounds that occurred 43 years ago when I was 17 and deer hunting in mid Georgia. It was early morning just after sunrise and I decided to walk some old logging roads while my friends and others were hunting in stands on the opposite side of a 2 lane road. I was probably a mile and a half down this logging road which had a lot of good size hills on one side, I chose to go there as I had jumped a good size buck the day before but didn’t get a shot off, anyway I heard a similar howling type sound as you were describing in the todays video, the sound seemed like it was coming from several hills over from me and it wasn’t a sound that any animal native to Georgia would make. Even though I had a 12 gauge shot gun loaded with slugs and 00 buck shot I suddenly became somewhat fearful and immediately turned around then walked back to camp as I had an overwhelming sensation that I needed to leave the area which was very strange as I was 17 and not fearful of too many things especially when I had a weapons in my hands. I never went to that side of the road again unless someone was accompanying me and I wouldn’t stand hunt there either. I will never forget how I felt that day, strange as I am thinking about it now it seems as I can feel that fear like it just happened.
Hey Chris I've heard many stories about these creatures but was not sure if the teller was to be trusted. After I found you I knew you were a trust worthy guy . I love the certainty of them. Plus you have a story tellers gift . Stay safe and keep on hiking. Looking forward to next time.
One of my friends found small barefoot tracks in the fresh snow at Goni Canyon between Carson and Washoe. He was up there first thing in the morning (6am), so I guess some little kid was wandering around with no shoes in a snowstorm??? And I'd have to ask him, but I think it was 2015/16. And just in the last year, Sierra Sasquatch UA-cam channel found some barefoot tracks in the snow above Bridgeport.
Chris, I WISH you could have seen my cat react to your impressions of the howls you heard. There has be something to that. She left midway through the second impression. Wow. Thank you for all you do!
Thanks Chris for the weekly posting. Up early on the west coast living on my 71 yr old trawler at the age of 63. Cheers!

Also, when you showed that aerial view of the lake where you mapped out the footprints on your computer... did anyone else think that the shape of the lake resembles a right foot?!? Maybe my imagination is going a little overboard. 😀 Great story, Chris. One of my favorites so far!
Glad you enjoyed it!🌲
That’s its Daddy’s Footprint, that filled in with Water???
Hi Chris, nice clear prints. The picture of the lake looks like a big foot🤷🏼♀️.
I would give my son a can of bear spray. Before a can of bigfoot spray. And do they make those? There is a reason why.
We talk about realistic woods encountering. It's not something that goes bump in the night. I just wanted to make chris realize his channel has future people who watch his channel. Even if Bigfoot was a deal in the woods, it's not a bigger threat than a grizzly bear.
How many kids have been in danger or killed by bigfoot? I would rather them be aware of a bear.
Thanks and welcome
@@joeybobbie1 Oh, I fully intend to have those, plus trail cams. I'm thinking super bright light to see deep in the woods.
I am just seeing this and curious how your camping trip went? Get an creepy sounds or pics on the trail cam?
Just looove your setting Chris!! And ur show😬😬😬❄️☃️
Awesome story mate! Thank you for sharing! :)
Glad you enjoyed it!
Animals have super balance. A bear can stand on a wire fence and not even waver.
Thanks again 👍Love getting the early posting out here on P.E.I. There is a video of a sasquatch from here taken by some film students. It looks quite real to me
I find Lassen to be a really disturbing area. Same with Shasta. Even when it’s sunny, it’s spooky.
Love your channel! Your Bigfoot hat is awesome! Where did you get it?
Always a joy listening Chris and this was extra special with your own account. I think once you have truly experienced Bigfoot you are a believer and a fan. Thanks for sharing.
Chris I have the same exact heater...they are awesome..
Another great story Chris. I have always been on the edge of caution when it comes to Bigfoot...but so many people have had these experiences it does peak my interests. Love your story and look forward to them every Sunday.
😮 Chris, when are we gonna see you over here in the UK?
We have big scary badgers, and in north wales, where I am, the occasional dragon!
That was an interesting story. I look forward to your stories every week. Thanks!
Thank you Chris for all the work you put into your weekly stories. Top notch!!!!
We’re always looking forward to your videos Chris! ❤
I almost fell out of my chair laughing at the hot stove feedback. Cheers.😂
I love that you are gonna do more cooking & camping! Awesome to watch!
Thanks for the new weekly story❤ Look forward to your updates😮 thanks Chris & take care & keep hiking😊
Thanks for watching!
Gee Chris, why doesn't Jeanine go camping with you sometime? That would be fun!
I definitely believe that the footprints that you found are indeed Bigfoot's!
👣👣👣👣👣👣👣👣👣👣👣👣👣
Keep Hiking Chris!
The good thing about most of the bigfoot stories on your site, including this one of your own, is that they are not over the top. To me, that lends credibility to the experience and your conclusions. Thanks for the interesting subject matter.
Wow Chris! Wish you could lead a camping expedition up in those areas. I would certainly sign up for it! Thank you so much for these great stories!
My pleasure!😘
Love your stories. Stay safe. Always carry more gun than you think you're going to need.
Thank you Chris. I would have been scared if I heard big stomping behind my tent.
Interesting stories Chris. When you start back on your hiking trips, please put those sites on your checklist! But be safe! Scary even!
And don't go "alone"!!!
Great story Chris! You are getting good at imitating the Bigfoot sounds :)
Thank you kindly!🌲
Great sound this time Chris. Sometimes the inside videos are a bit flat but this is very nice to listen to. Whatever you've done, keep doing that 😁
Yes! Been updating my audio … with a decent wireless mic.👍
Thank you so very much, Chris, for all the hard work you do bringing us such a fantastic program! The encounters are always awesome, and you do such an amazing job making us feel just like we're right there in it with them! And the scenery is always breathtaking. Cheers 🍻 and thank you so much ❤️
Glad you enjoy it!🌲🩷
Good to see you again Chris! This is such a treat every Sunday you have amazing stories. I am amazed at your story. You really had me on the edge of my seat! Lol. Coming from you makes this story excitable and intriguing. I have to say that you are one courageous guy and fantastic story teller! Can't wait for the next one!!! Stay safe ❤
Good morning everyone from Colorado. Early story with Chris! Thanks
Great pictures, Chris! Thank you for sharing this, cheers!
Great story. Love the early post 🦍🤠
I remember when you shared this experience a while back. And how cool is it that your prints are being looked at by someone with such great authority! Keep us posted on the outcome of this, please. As always, many blessings and hike on! Jules 😊
Thank you for sharing your encounter Chris!
Wow! Thanks for sharing your experience! 🏕️
Chuck.
Thank you Chris for another entertaining and informative story telling video. You never disappoint. 😊
Chris thanks for sharing your experience. You take care!
Good story keep them comeing
Loved your story Chris. I can't wait each week for your story (stories) as you are such a good storyteller. I, too am a storyteller, but not Bigfoot. My niche is Female Soldiers of the Civil War and first person Clara Barton. I truly enjoy your channel. Keep up the great work that you do. I know how much effort you put into your videos. Some people might believe that having a channel and filming videos is so easy; however, it is not simple. Thank you again for this enlightening story.
This was extremely interesting. Thank you as always, Chris!
I'm glad to hear that you had an encounter of sorts and that's why you got started. Thanks for sharing 😊😊😊😊😊
Hello from southeast Alabama. Love your channel. Please keep on keeping on!❤❤❤
Chris, I WISH you could have seen my cat react to your impressions of the howls you heard. There has be something to that. She left midway through the second impression. Wow. Thank you for all you do!
Love the stories ! Not much of a chance of Bigfoot encounters in NJ but we have our own devil to our own!
You have a cozy looking man cave! That section of Goose Lake also looked like a footprint😳
Great story glad to see you’re a great person that loves the outdoors
Thanks 👍
Looking forward to your upcoming camp outs. Don't forget the chili ! Great stories as always Chris 😄
Will do!! 🌶️
❤Base Camp Chris❤ keep hiking! 🥾 Cheers 🥂 Cannot wait until the other experience 😊
