Ezra Furman - Sex Education: Unreleased Soundtrack

- Whenever a new season of Sex Education drops, Ezra Furman will have made an absolutely astonishing soundtrack for it. But whenever these soundtracks are officially released, a few tracks will be left out. This is usually due to the songs being unfinished, but these songs still get a lot of attention online, so I thought I'd help out by compiling all of the unreleased Ezra Furman songs from Sex Education.
Songs Written and Performed by Ezra Furman, Ben Joseph, Jorgen Jorgenson-Briggs, Sam Durkes, Tim Sandusky, Trevor Brooks, and Oli Julian.
Apart from "Origin of Love" which was written by Stephen Trask, "I Can Change" which was written by Pat Mahoney and James Murphy, and "Devil or Angel" which was written by Blanche Carter.

A bit of extra info on the tracks...
I’m Coming Clean (Alternate Version)
Featured in the first episode of the show. It seems to be a cut down earlier recording of the song that was eventually released on the soundtrack.
Right on Time
A song featured at the beginning of season 3. I edited together parts of this song used from snippets that the Sex Education Instagram account put online and parts from the show itself.
Whatever Will I Do
The reason a lot of these songs aren’t released is because they’re usually demos, and the short versions heard in the show are probably as long as the track actually is.
Little World
This song was featured quite regularly throughout season 2 but got a new version in season 3, so I edited them together to make a “full version”.
Bedside
Another short track from season 2, episode 1.
Dressed in Black
A new track from season 3 (and probably my personal favourite). There’s a point where sound gets a bit messy and that’s because of the dialogue over the top I’ve had to edit out, it’s not too bad on this track but apologies because it can be quite bad in places.
The Origin of Love
A beautiful cover performed by Ezra and her band (at the time “The Visions”) that was featured in season 1, episode 7, when the band appear onstage at the school prom. This recording was a really difficult one to work with. When there was dialogue, the song got pushed into the background and became swamped in reverb. But whenever a direct shot of the band was seen, the music became a bit clearer. Unfortunately the end of the song can’t be heard as they were interrupted in the show. I really hope to hear the full version of this at some point. Sex Education
The song recorded in 2018 that plays over the end credits of the first episode.
I’m Coming Clean (Live)
A live version that Ezra recorded from home for the Sex Education Instagram account. Heavily edited and cut down though, due to audio that was played over the top.
Love You So Bad (Alternate Version)
I edited this version together using elements taken from the trailer and the series itself. The version in the show seems to have bass and Tim’s live saxophone dubbed in. The ending of this track trails off into a sort of “remix” made by Oli Julian for the series. This can be heard in the opening scenes of season 2, episode 1.
Can I Sleep In Your Brain (Alternate Version)
An edit of the original version that features new organ dubbed in. From season 3.
I Can Change (Alternate Version)
An edit of the original track with overdubbed bass and percussion. Featured in the infamous scene where Eric and Adam start smashing junk with baseball bats in season 2.
Amateur (Alternate Version)
Featured in season 2. Quite possibly a demo. Not too far off the final version but has acoustic guitar and is missing some synth.
If Only The Wind (Demo)
From season 1. It sounds to me like an earlier take on the song that was eventually released. Very different to the final version.
La Madrugada (Demo - Snippet)
There wasn’t too much to work with here, just snippets. Sounds like a guide vocal, so not too far off of the final version.
Little World (Alternate Version)
The version of the song featured in season 2.
Devil or Angel (Alternate Version)
A cut down of the final version with overdubbed backing vocals and a different opening.
Every Feeling (Early Mix)
The version featured in the show. The big difference I spotted between this version and the final mix is the backing vocals being very dry effects-wise.

Why can't find the song 40 days in kansas anywhere !! Its so good i wanna hear it 😭
It took me a while to find it too, 40 Days in Kansas and Doomed Love Affair were from the Year of No Returning album but as hidden tracks. There was a way of finding them of the time but I'm not quite sure how it was done. I think you can find them on any streaming platforms if you use a VPN and change your location to america, that's how I did it anyway. Hope this helps :)

I watched your Doctor Who trans representation video a while ago, and today I searched up Ezra Furman because I'm a big fan, and found you a second time!
would you consider making some kind of instrumentals to ezra's songs? even the simplest ones. just a suggestion 🧡
i've covered most of them by myself, essentially getting as close to the original recordings as possible, but i've not released any yet. if there's a particular song that you want an instrumental for, there are online ai websites that remove the vocals for you. i think there's a decent one called "vocalremover.org" try that one out. but if you do want any of my covers, do let me know!
