@@BroadPNG Why have you replied to so many comments calling Ellis a naughty little flirt boy Nothing in this video is like that, it's just a couple friends enjoying a shite time together ya fruitcake
It's easily the worst I have been in. The tunnel/cage is like something out of eastern europe. The home end isn't much better either. Been that side for a few semi-finals.
As a student I lived next to the old ground. It was magnificent. A sloping pitch and standing so close to the pitch that if a player took a throw in you could have easily taken the ball off them. The Kassam is OK - it just drains any atmosphere. Even a higher fence with a mural of a stand would be better than an open end. If you ever drive there and park in the car park where there are a load of spaces free, just beware. A poor shot at goal can easily fly into the car park and do damage!
2:25 I'm from Romania and I think that is Dinamo Bucharest not Zagreb but yeah, it's funny that an random Dinamo Bucharest sticker is on the Oxford stadium 😂😂
Thank you for publishing this. Livelong OUFC here. We utterly hate the Kassam Stadium and the way our beloved club has been treated by the landlord is downright disgraceful. We need a new home before our lease runs out. Thankfully a new stadium is on the horizon and we can forget this three sided nightmare.
I recognised the stadium in the first second from Nieve's video! The comment made in her video about putting a giant ant farm in the empty car park stand still lives rent free in my head.
In reality, it's both an ox AND a bull. The term "bull" can be applied to uncastrated males of various bovine species, and "ox" is not really a specific species either, but rather a term for any kind of bovine that has been domesticated as a draft animal. Overall, the majority of oxen are castrated, and are therefore not bulls (which does make the inclusion of the balls on the statue a bit odd and unnecessary). However, there are indeed some parts of the world where at least some of the oxen are bulls. This is not common overall because bulls are significantly more difficult to control due to their much higher testosterone levels, but it's not impossible, especially depending on the specific job. It's a bull-ox with bollocks!
The Kassam seems to have acquired "character". My nominations for bad stadiums are from the 80s: Colchester United's ground at Layer Road had an away section enclosed with chicken wire; the ball regularly ended up in someone's back garden and parts of the terracing were fenced off for safety reasons. Northampton Town used to ground share with the county cricket club, and had open air urinals. This video was very entertaining; I think you should treat Nieve to a game at Dereham Town.
There was a time, not so long ago where clubs were owned by people who had their hearts set for said club. Now it’s become an investment thing, an endless moneymaking pit (at least, that’s what they hope). If it goes sour, or for whatever crooked reason, they just bail. Sad. On a lighter note, another entertaining vid, pigeons included.
It has a similar feel to Twerton Park in Bath, two beautiful cities in which the council neglect their football clubs and the areas they are located because they are more interested in keeping the city centres prestine. I understand why but feel bad for the fans.
It stinks because of the sewage works next door. Also there used to be a pub just opposite called The Priory, Kassam evicted the tenants and then left it to rot despite it being a listed building. We pay a service charge that supposedly means the stadium will be upkept, but it's consistently dirty and the toilets are minging. There's no hot water and the reception is non existent. The sooner we leave this dump the better.
You should try Broadwood Stadium in Cumbernauld. The Scottish version of the Kassam, just colder! Three sides, neglected and ran into the ground by the owners.
@CopperHTID Broomhill are now playing at Dumbarton. Clyde are playing at Hamilton Accies. The only team left there are Cumbernauld Colts in the Lowland League

As a Canadian, it boggles my mind how close everything is in the UK. When you credited the Peterborough fans for making the trip, I googled the distance. It's a 2-hour drive. For me, the CLOSEST away day is a 6-hour drive.
For a weekend game you would think nothing of it, but this was a Tuesday night game in a meaningless competition. Those fans wouldn't have got home until after midnight, so fair play to them for bothering.
@@bobbyt8547this is true, but they only dress like that for public appearances like parades or press conferences. A normal officer on shift looks more like an American officer.
I live in metro vancouver and it takes me 2 hours just to get to a whitecaps home game. That’s why I end up going to more cpl games. But away days are brutal cuz the closest one is a 2 hour ferry ride and a 3 hour drive away
Echoing the thoughts of the fans you spoke to Ellis, I don't dislike Grenoble Road, I hate it. The sheet metal sides, cold concrete, lack of much to make it feel like our home. It's Awful. I'm gutted I couldn't experience our old home The Manor Ground, it was a proper British stadium, had a slopped pitch and everything. To expand on what Nieve said about how cold it can get, from late October to mid April every season, standing in the East stand (the one behind the goal) is like arctic level freezing. If the inability to clear the pigeons weren't enough, until a few years ago, every penny from concourse sales went to Firoz as well as the Hollywood Bowl complex. It's believed when we eventually leave, the whole thing will get torn down and replaced with houses. I can't wait to leave Grenoble Road. But, cos the approval to build a new ground is taking a while, it looks like the solution will be to extend our license to play there until our new stadium is build.
This was my local when it was built, I saw the very first match there against Palace. I was actually down the Palace end as a long time sufferer of Palace (before they became premier league quality). Palace lost on penalties. But I remember the ball going over the fence and hitting cars in the car park. The place has never felt nice and felt rundown from the very start. Also, rumours were that Kassam couldn't afford the 4th stand but built the entertainment complex to pay for it and have a longterm income. He managed the second one. The new ground about to be built will be far easier to get to as well.
I travel from Seattle,Washington USA to watch oxford yearly and I have to the Ka$$am has a special place in my heart. Love both you guys. Keep up the good work
Taunton is dangerous for away fans, advertised capacity of 1,000 in the away end, safe capacity, about 600 at most. 3 Porta Potties for all the away fans, Pitch constantly Flooded, No proper food only pastries, no room before the pitch meaning fans are dangerously crammed in together, and meanwhile the home end gets way more room only to bring less fans than the away. Overall the Club is very nice but the Stadium is almost dangerous.
Sounds a lot like Nantwich Town’s ground I had to steward at for a cup game involving Chester, my team. That place is barely a bloody stadium! I refuse to go there again.
To be fair us as Bolton Wanderers fans can go to Hollywood bowl for a pre-match pint there's a bar in there and it's always packed. But we do also have a harvester and a couple other bars dotted around the place.
Why is everybody dissing it having three stands. I think that stadiums with three stands are brilliant and I'm definitely not biased or a partick thistle fan and their home ground definitely does not have three stands or anything.
I visited this stadium like 10 years ago, when London Welsh (rugby) called this place home, I vividly remember the lack of fourth stand and view of the carpark
In Peru, this would be considered a pretty good stadium Also you should really go to the highest stadium in the world. It’s in Cerro de Pasco in Peru and is the home ground of Union Minas.
"There's no pub here" There's literally a aports bar above the Hollywood Bowl, and the worst pub in England is five minutes walk away, just behind the houses at the end of the ground with a stand.
I can never understand why people buy a ticket for a match which is generally not cheap and then leave before the match is over. Surely if their team is losing, then that is when they need most support

The "Argentina" shirt is a remake of one of our Umbro shirts from the 70s. It was produced by a fans group in order to raise money for a statue in honour of Posh legend Tommy Robson who died a few years ago.
One small comment - you said that this is the "worst competition" for Oxford United, however it really can't be, seeing as they won it in 1986 - credit where it's due. The ground just looks unfinished, and badly so - the stands are so disconnected, at least Shrewsbury's look like they're on speaking terms. On a more serious note, the pigeon situation is a serious Health and Safety violation, that looks disgusting and really unhealthy.
As a fan who’s been going to that stadium for almost 20 years, it’s an absolute hole. Never cleaned, no character, everything done on the cheap (hence why it’s so unbearably ugly), grim interior, and the weird gaps and 3 stands mean that atmosphere is very difficult to create inside the stadium. Even if our new stadium plans were fully accepted and construction started immediately, there’s no way it would be finished in time and ground sharing is inevitable. Various owners of the club have tried to buy the stadium from Kassam but he won’t budge. Not only do we not own the stadium, the club has to pay hundreds of thousands of pounds every season to play there. So yeah, not great.
If you think a Dinamo Zagreb sticker on a wall at Oxford is bad, we've got a Hansa Rostock sticker on the urinal cistern at Dunkirk from when we had some German guys came to watch (Notts kicked off at 12:30, so they went to us after).
As a oxford fan our staduim is just utterly shit, glad you see the problems we do. Hopefully in the next couple of years we will get it all sorted! Btw the smell you talk about is the sewage place in Sandford (the next estate over).... its especially lovely on a sunny afternoon 😂
It's an interesting and unique game day experience. A friend and I took a day trip to Oxford a few years back when we were traveling around the UK from Australia and went to an Oxford United game at this stadium. Public transport to the stadium was a bit sketchy, the fact there are no pubs around seemed strange to us. But the fans were fantastic during the match. I still remember a kid after the game getting all excited that my mate had an Adelaide United kit on haha. We enjoyed the experience, but it was 100% different to any other game we attended that trip up and down the pyramid. Though public transport to venues was a reoccurring issue to a lot of stadiums and grounds we went to in the UK.
For a while there was a pub, next to the car park, called the Priory - and it was a great place, a proper friendly, traditional pub in a medieval building, an oasis of history and character in a desert of dull concrete-and-steel modernity - but, guess what, Kassam made sure it was impossible for the owner to make a living. It's now boarded up and neglected (despite being a Grade II* listed building). Kassam is a soulless money-grabbing creep.
I went back to Upton Park to be an extra in a movie a few months after the last ever game. There was pigeon crap everywhere and the toilets hadn't been cleaned. I think this ground is similar.
Awh Ellis taking his gf Nieve on a date and pretending to let her educate him on a subject he just got done doing extensive research on for this video😂 what a gentleman, how sweet of him😂😂
I see your Kassam Stadium and raise you Central Park (Cowdenbeath). A football pitch in the middle of a stock car track. Almost every single view is obstructed by safety fencing. Let’s not forget the fact it has an Indian/Nepalese buffet in the car park as well. It’s for sure a stadium from a bygone era and has a rather unique charm despite being an absolute dump of a place.
I've just looked that up, that's crazy 😂 Despite the football being older than the racing it somehow looks like the pitch was added as an afterthought.
I do have a suggestion for the worst stadium in europe, Top Oss here in the Dutch 2nd division have a horrible stadium. Would not even call it a stadium They also have a horrible goaltune in my opinion, But thats for you to potentially find out
My mates and I went to Oxford United's old Manor Ground a couple of times, as it was so easy for us to get to...just hop off the bus at Headington Shops! Great atmosphere for such a small place. Never managed to get to the Kassam as it wasn't on a bus route, and they put the prices up wayyy too much!
Should've gone upstairs to J's Sports Bar instead of the Bowl. Much more atmosphere in there, loads of TV's and they usually allow away fans in. Can get very busy though for league games so arrive early.
the placement of this stadium feels very American, especially without the trains being immediately accessible. I'm sure there's a worse stadium but it can't be by much. thank you for suffering with the Oxford fans for the video, football is back, so is AwayDays! Gettin!!

Not sure if you’ve checked out Meadowbank in Edinburgh yet, might not top Oxford but definitely pushing them in a title challenge
I still remember when Stamford Bridge had 3 stands and a carpark behind a goal
Stamford Bridge was a real shithole in the eighties
This is the crossover content we came for!!
If you think a Dinamo Zagreb sticker on a wall at Oxford is bad, we've got a Hansa Rostock sticker on the urinal cistern at Dunkirk from when we had some German guys came to watch (Notts kicked off at 12:30, so they went to us after).
A fine stadium, particularly enjoyed the Ghislaine Maxwell Suite, The Julian Allsop Banana Bar, and for the kids the Graham Rix Crèche .
@@DaveDunford Sad that this happened to them and the club. Hopefully a new ground is on the horizon.
Would not even call it a stadium
They also have a horrible goaltune in my opinion, But thats for you to potentially find out
Just checked it out on Google Maps. you weren't lying...it is horrible!
Real talk 😂
I LOVE STUNTPEGG
The chicken curry pies in the ground on match day are lovely 🤤🤤
may be losing my mind but ellis looks sm like paul mescal at 2:36
The best comment we’ll ever get
I think he looks like Sam Fender
My mates and I went to Oxford United's old Manor Ground a couple of times, as it was so easy for us to get to...just hop off the bus at Headington Shops!
Great atmosphere for such a small place.
Never managed to get to the Kassam as it wasn't on a bus route, and they put the prices up wayyy too much!
Should've gone upstairs to J's Sports Bar instead of the Bowl. Much more atmosphere in there, loads of TV's and they usually allow away fans in. Can get very busy though for league games so arrive early.
8:55 when the stadium's so bad it hurts
Best collab ever!
The mustache 🗣️🗣️🔥🔥
Weird location for a ground!
I can't believe you was at the Kassam and i didn't know also love how you say how are fans are great
From Uzbekistan good luck
the placement of this stadium feels very American, especially without the trains being immediately accessible. I'm sure there's a worse stadium but it can't be by much. thank you for suffering with the Oxford fans for the video, football is back, so is AwayDays! Gettin!!
