I bet you already know about it but there is a new animated superman show called 'My Adventures with Superman'. It's about Clark, Lois, and Jimmy as twenty-somethings at the start of their careers. It's excellent.
its amazing, and doesn't have a lot of episodes so far, I hope she watches it at some point
Getting closer to World’s Finest episodes
Can't wait to see her reaction to the redesigns of Batman and Joker. Harley is about the same just slimmer.
And getting closer to the bigger picture🦇🦸🏻♂️🃏🎩🪄🌊
I have been waiting for those episodes since meg started reacting to Superman 😅 soo excited
Can’t wait for that!
Justice League TAS has my favorite Joker design by far
This was back when the concept of a evil Superman wasn't driven into the ground. At least this version has some nuance to the premise instead of "there just assholes".
Of course even Marvel and DC have toyed with the idea. Marvel had Hyperion, and long ago DC introduced the Crime Syndicate, an evil version of the Justice League from a parallel Earth where the moral alignment of heroes and villains was reversed.
It sucks cuz because of how over saturated the idea has become, characters like Omni Man who are actually written well get ignored. The idea of an evil Superman is fun when done right but now people seem to even prefer it to the proper, heroic Superman that's the genuine article.
hell even the DCAU got the justice lord superman as a lamer version
why do people latched into injustuce superman that is really just a way for the mortal kombat game that needed a big bad is beyond me
I know "with great power comes great responsibility" is Spiderman's line, but to me that's a central pillar of who Superman is. I always love seeing the line that Clark walks between ultra-powerful hero and totalitarian ruler just by his motivation. It's so easy to lose yourself and forget why we do what we do, when our end goals and trauma overtake our altruism and respect for others.
Clark always keeps that core morality, that love, central to his actions, and it's why he's such a great superhero, even after nearly a century of stories. 🧡
Except "responsibility/obligation/duty" is a myth. Superman chooses to devote his great power to others when he could simply choose to be selfish and that's how he's good i.e. how he's a hero.
The difference between Superman and Spider-Man is that Spider-Man has to remind himself that power demands responsibility, while Superman understands that implicitly. Where this alternate version of Superman went wrong is that he lost track of exactly how to live up to that responsibility and apply that power. He wasn't acting out of selfishness, he just went about it the wrong way, influenced by Lex, who *was* acting out of selfishness, and without Lois to reel him back in and remind him what he's fighting for.
Spider-Man, meanwhile, is in an ongoing battle with his selfish impulses, and the fact that he keeps choosing responsibility no matter how much life punishes him for it and no matter how close he gets to quitting for good is what makes him a superhero.
@@Swenglish _"The difference between Superman and Spider-Man is that Spider-Man has to remind himself that power demands responsibility, while Superman understands that implicitly."_
Supes and Spidey _believe_ that, not "understands", since it's not the truth. The truth is "responsibility/obligation/duty" is a myth, it's entirely imaginary.
@@Mansplainer2099-jy8ps Ok, Ayn Rand.
@@Swenglish Ha, I wasn't advocating _objectivism,_ it's just fact that organisms do not have this invisible thing inducing them to help eachother.
There is a similar episode of Lois & Clark the New Adventures of Superman from the year before called Tempus, Anyone? where Lois is taken to a universe where she is dead and in this timeline Clark never became Superman.
I believe the episode was named tempus fugitive
I am FOREVER a Die Hard Superman Stan. He is just simply HIM.
The writer who wrote this episode also wrote a similar plot for a two part episode in the Adventures Of Superboy TV show in the late 80s/early 90s.
I’ve been waiting for you to get back to this show. You’re on the verge of some really great episodes.
I totally forgot about this episode. Its interesting to compare it to the even more fleshed-out JLU story with the Justice Lords.
They have done something like this after this episode. It's called Injustice, but it's much darker than this one.
There's Injustice comicbooks, two video games & an animated movie that was not well liked (it had some flaws, especially the death of a certain character that was not believable at all!)
i love Lois episodes, and this one is so good. and her asking to get personal in the end 🥹
If you like this one, you should see the movie "Superman: Red Son".
How does the movie compare to the book?
@NeilEvans-xq8ik IMO opinion it’s better, it condenses or gets rid of some of the more tiresome parts while introducing a few cool elements.
As someone who’s read the book I tend to prefer the original comic, a lot of the additional stuff in the movie was unnecessary and took away from the story rather than adding to it.
this plot was done on other super hero shows. Both before and after this both on shows you follow and shows you don't follow. Its a fun idea but kids had seen it before.
In every alternate universe where Lois dies, Superman turns evil. Superman=Supersimp
Not true at all. Case and point: Kingdom Come Superman. He didn't turn evil, he just went into exile after Lois' death, mostly in part because he lost faith in humanity after Magog killed The Joker and everyone was okay with it. But then he actually came back and ended up saving humanity like he always does. Or more aptly put, he came back and ended up saving humanity like what the *REAL* Superman always does.
@Lord_Draco_III oh yeah, sorry, I forgot about that one
There's only one universe I know of where Luthor is a good guy, the Antimatter Universe where good and evil are reversed and he's the world's greatest hero... though even there he's pretty pompous.
1:41 Yeah, that Batman one is all over the place. You don't seem to have a reaction for "On Leather Wings", which is literally the first episode of the show, so that's how wacky that is. Supes seems to be fine over here. This would bepisode 12 of season 2, but yeah.
The episode itself kinda ends up suffering from not being a two-parter. Big Blue just gets along with people off-screen because there's gotta be an action scene. Don't worry, though, there is much better take on this subject coming down the line. This also kinda does this thing that become too popular where Clark would go full dictator if he lost Lois. Lois is not the center of his moral compass, it's the Kents.
Superman is the greatest superhero.
It's so goofy of Superman to think that he can simply crush Lex like Lex didn't always carry a thing of Kryptonite all the time even before Superman became a tyrant like I know Superman is emotionally defeated but he still shouldn't let his guard down though especially with Lex Lol
Seguro Luthor tenía formas de detener a Batman y a los otros superhéroes
There's a decent video game from the studio that does Mortal Combat called Injustice Gods Among Us that tackles another dimension of an evil Superman after Lois dies, different story, but very solid
Great watch, Meg! This series never shies away from heavy themes. It might be more accurate to call this an "all ages" show rather than a "kids" show.
If anyone's interested in a great Elseworlds tale that unpacks some of the themes from this episode, check out the Kingdom Come comic miniseries from 1996. It's a true work of art by Alex Ross, and examines the role of Superman and other heroes in an increasingly callous world.
This never would have happened, Batman would've shut him down. Batman in fact has a plan for it actually.😂
If you want more like this episode then i highly recommend playing injustice 1 and 2 the games. Same concept where supes loses lois and goes rogue. The injustice games are like civil war from marvel where its team iron man vs team cap except its team superman vs team batman. And kevin plays batman again
Also the same concept appears again in the justice league cartoon which takes place after this show
The official season cutoffs of this show are largely meaningless- they reflect the way the network ordered and aired the series, but not story arcs in any meaningful way. But if you wanted to divide this show into sections based on story, you are just about done with part 1. Lots of things narratively and thematically have paid off by now- in this episode, in the Phantom Zone Criminal arc, etc, and "Ghost in the Machine" will just about close off the storylines that drove this half of the show.
And then comes some real fun.
Out of all "What if Superman, but evil", this one is probably the least tiresome. At least this Superman is good inside, just misguided.
Exactly! I have never been a fan of evil Superman, any more than I am a fan of Batman with guns, but this version isn't so much evil, as he is clinically depressed. Which is ver human, and therefore, very Superman.
eh, I never liked this episode cause this version of superman went evil over so little, with the nazi imagery and such. my favorite evil superman is the one in the last two episodes of the series. My headcannon is that the kents died young in this world and Superman never became clark
@@henrybelman7424 And see, MY headcannon in Brave New Metropolis is that his parents died young, too! Superman turning his back on his beliefs never works, to me, if the Kents are in the picture, in any way, shape, or form. That's why I don't like Injustice.
@@notavailable8514 all three of them. Honestly one of my favorite evil Superman stories comes from the late 50s maybe early 60s, Superman 301, where red kryptonite separates him into Clark Kent and an evil Superman. Clark is the leader of the resistance in that comic
@@henrybelman7424 Makes the most sense out of all of them... There is no Superman, without Clark Kent :)
You know now that I think about it you really have to watch Smallville. It's literally one of the best Superman shows in my opinion. Even though and I'm gonna kind of spoil this, he doesn't put the suit on till the very last episode but just the character and stories are in it or peak Superman in my opinion. And Tom welling is just a great version of the character.
I love that Lois is capable in any situation yea she was shocked but she climbed up the monument with a gun 😂. & it’s interesting seeing Lex vs Clark here it really sings to the thought of a personality being so strong it transcends space and time as Lois said “Everything here is different but you Lex”
Debe ser por hija de un coronel seguro recibió entrenamiento militar
You should check out X-Men and Spider-Man TAS too. It’s as good as this. 😊
@@Xehanort10 Yeah, wish it could’ve happened when Norm Spencer was still alive 🥲
@@Xehanort10 i hope this inspires them to make a sequel to spider-man: the animated series with Christopher Daniel Barnes back as spider-man
Hi Meg hope you are having an great and awesome day ❤️
hi Meg
This is a great one, in fact there is a comic (I believe) that shows a similar version of this Superman.
7:23 who said it was, the fact is animated doesn't mean is for kids
I mean, this show was made for kids, nothing wrong with that it's still a good show
❤🎉❤🎉
Another day another alternate universe/timeline where Superman goes bad. But this is a good episode so I'll let it go.
Você precisa reagir ao filme animado injustiça
Have you played injustice gods among us, that's like this episode
There's more emotional episodes coming up. Brace yourself.
Unfortunately Do to personal politics this is as close they get to a deeper relationship. Corporate doesn’t think superheroes can have a anything more than a friendship because “we”would not approve in their context
7):( D
The most oppressive and dictatorial world in the DC universe is Apokolips
The reason she doesn’t get more subscribers is because she only shows a very small percentage of her reaction. More channels show free reaction time on UA-cam, if I am going to have a UA-cam channel in my algorithm, it’s going to be a channel of our reaction movie, and or shall channel that shows more of a higher percentage of reaction time than just simply them reviewing the episode. Time is money.
Law and order is vital for a civilized society. So is Border security. Taking Charen form there parents is not a fully accurate statement either. You're not getting the full story if you believe that one. Its a half truth.
Bottum line, to make a long rant short, we HAVE the ability to END Illegal Immigration and Homelessness but we lack the creativity and vision to use it.
To TRULLY help people you NEED to turn against the ideology that Woke people and Conservative people believe so strongly in and accept a NEW way of doing things.
You have to be willing to enforce morality on those who insist on being immoral.
BOTH Democrats and Republicans fail and that's why we still have this issue. You HAVE to be some thing else. you HAVE to do things an other way. What we do NOW doesn't work. and most people lack the vision to try it.
You don't have to become a tyrant, but asking nicely for people to want to change doesn't work. Sending people back home and ignoring the problem as you do nothing doesn't work. Letting do whatever they want in doesn't work
You have to tell people to do things the RIGHT way and give them no other option. Show them they DON'T go home until they AGREE. on a solution. FORCE the solution to happen and DON'T block it in the courts. LET people DO there jobs. LET good ideas get done. LET people with good ideas HAVE resources to do them
And STOP holding things up in court. Let people MAKE changes. STOP trying to block new laws. Thats the real Tyrant.
The problem I have is Democrats Demand ideas that have a TON of flaws and don't consider consequences
Republicans chose to have no change and keep things as they are and ignore reality
We NEED a 3rd way. IDK what that way is. but we need to try some thing else.
The Batman series is better
