Quality is such a big issue , there is definitely a swing towards more mid priced brands based on longevity and therefore value for money . I have bought high end items in the past only to find they have out performed lesser known , lower priced but still very well made items !!!

100% Historically, the whole point of "luxury" is high quality. It's hand made artisans, and the lifetime guarantee. Now brands are relying on their brand name to carry them and sell cheap $10 t-shirts at a premium. There are a lot of mid to lower end brands reintroducing this quality concept and making people look elsewhere

    • @thebigh9324

@@sophiaottley7203 I agree with you totally ! I also think there might be a couple of possible exceptions at the top , unlike Chanel and Dior etc , there haven't been any reported quality issues with Hermes , only time will tell if they really do hold up ! However their bags do seem to have become much more commonplace and some of the colour and design schemes are ' questionable ' to say the least . Now it seems like anyone and everyone can acquire a Birkin it would seem , providing they have the funds !! x

I agree with other posts on here, quality and over production. Decades ago, in the 80s you didn't see Chanel bags all over the place and I know that was before social media. These days it seems everybody and their brother and sister own a lux bag and then ...is it really lux anymore if its common? I also believe a lot of the bags are mass produced in China, my opinion. It may explain the quality coming from a factory that isn't monitored the way it was, less than materials and hardware. I believe the bag is finished in Italy and the label is made in Italy thus allowing the bag to be labeled as Made in Italy. It may also explain why the fakes are so darn well made, some people think it makes more sense to own one of those.

They have their LV all over the place to make sure the whole world knows what it is. I feel like they should give me the bag for free as its nothing but a billboard for them. As a person who is studying industrial design and have a humble understanding of consumer psyche ( being a consumer myself and having worked with some ) and understanding the ins and outs of designing. Manufacturing. And and brief understanding of the market.
I see where both partiest lie. However, the "luxury brands" arent putting a good front or maintaining whats rest of it.
+ being a produce corp you need to have and feel responsibility regarding the environment ( and by which not only planet earth but also all living beings and such ) and yes some might say. Would you actually care if you were making all that money ?
The answare is yes! Yes i would. And lets suppose i didnt "care" about planet earth. I would "care" about my reputation in the market. Maintaining my front is everthing ! Absolutely everything !
If i didnt care about human labour. I would care about what people would think of me in case i got involved in such scandal !
If i didnt care about the carbon foot print of my manufacturers or factories i would care what people would say knowing im producing recklessly !
And it goes on and on.
Especially with the fact that there is a huge economy hit effecting billions of people. Companies and even countries !. The fact that human health is significantlly deteriorating ! Due to horrible working conditions ( manufactures and such )
I could sit and talk for hours about the horrifics of this matter. But im decently sure the message has been delivered. And by all means i stand with the consumers !

The quality of luxury handbags has significantly declined compared to a generation ago, while prices have skyrocketed to astronomical levels. Many UA-cam content creators have uncovered the stark contrast between the actual cost of production and the retail price. Furthermore, the emergence of 'super replicas'-so expertly crafted that even experts find it difficult to distinguish them from the originals-makes purchasing overpriced, supposedly 'authentic' items increasingly redundant.

Luxury companies died when they diluted their brand and made it accessible to the middle class who can charge it to a credit card. Affordable luxury is not luxury. Some LV products are now manufactured in some small-town factory in Texas! WTF? No thank you . Also, I work at a private jet company where I see millionaires in and out everyday. One thing I notice is that they never wear any luxury logo clothing or bags. They look ordinary but their clothes have quality. Real rich people don't need to show off - just us middle class, rich wanna-be have the need to buy "affordable luxury" to feel better about ourselves.

    • @Taylor987-h8j

The real question is what about society makes the some of the middle class behave this way? Could it be the millions spent on marketing and advertising to condition them to feel like they need it? It’s not about wanting to look like a plain Jane rich person, most of who don’t know how to dress. The reality is, it’s a capitalist society that squeezes money from the middle and lower classes on purpose

With covid, when products were dumped on eBay, there was so much of the stuff. I got lucky with a batch of fossil watches and paid for about ten watches between 2.50£ to 11.00£. The problem is when there is so much stuff that is over valued, people think it has potential resale value when they need the money. Unfortunately there too much stuff. Nobody can afford the price of buying second hand. Wages and job insecurity are a big factor when people buy stuff. In my pervious comment I said that luxury brands are not fun. The brands are boring, they are not fun, having nothing to say, lack cultural identity. I would like to see bags with graffiti on them or have quotes about what we are. The colours are made to match everything that is worn because of the cost, but that makes it boring.
The worst thing about luxury brands is that what does not sell get destroyed, wasted product that ends in landfills, burned, destroyed as they make more money by getting rid of the surplus. I think the craft industry needs to grow, as they will make more interesting less boring items.

They don’t care they want a particular customer back, which will bring the value back over time, rich people don’t care about a bag falling apart they buy a new one and have hundreds if not thousands more

Used to work for LV. I'm telling you we had returns from every category almost everyday! the quality is very bad for the price! You only paying for the name at this point! LVMH also purchased Tiffany's in 2021 and now the jewelry is made with cheaper materials. Save your money!

majority of Lux brands invest in sick causes around the world, so no thanks, I don't want to support wrongdoers, neither give my hard earned money for an item that only costs €57, but is being sold for €2,000. tbh these days I even feel ashamed to carry anything with those logos. and when I see someone wearing/carrying chanel dior etc, I don't think that the person is rich, I think that he/she lacks knowledge, or has self-esteem issue so needs to show off.

I have been a huge fan of Louis Vuitton since I was 17. I am 54 now. I have over 300 pieces. However, I stopped buying in about 2019 when it dawned on me when walking into a LV store, it’s like walking into a department store. Cheap sunglasses and belts and sneakers..! Today’s LV stores are not the real LV. The brand is definitely not what it used to be. And being in Australia, walking into a LV store… not a white person to be seen and all the men are gay… it’s a different world now, a world where I don’t belong anymore!

Bless yalls heart. Yall are so special. Luxury goods DO NOT cater to average consumers.
There will ALWAYS BE PPL WITH MONEY And those ppl will continue to seek the services of these houses.
Yoi guys are the ones lost in logos and monograms, but these houses PROVIDE SERVICES. You basic consumers dont have any idea the affiliations of these houses and the serivces the actually provide.
Just because you arent buying, doesnt mean the target niche isnt.
You guys are not the target. Sorry to bust that bubble. You can support the brand, but you arent the target.
If you are not in the top three tiers of the houses consumer, please shut up.

People can be gay and still be homophobic. The same way individuals can exhibit racism toward people of their own race. D&G market to gay consumers but oppose gay families. They opposed surrogacy and the idea of same-sex couples raising children, which alienated many in the LGBTQ+ community. Don't be so fast to say "I don't think you know what you are talking about" without doing your research first ;)

You do realize this stuff breaks on purpose. So that they can have you buy more. That is their plan. Just like the light bulb on your house it goes out on purpose so you will buy more light bulbs. If things did break and lasted longer people wouldn't need to buy new things and businesses would go out of business. Hope this makes sense.
